And Zeke had seven carries in one half of one preseason game last year.

There is a big difference in talent.

Switzer really needed to play some to see how viable he would be in offensive packages.

Right now, if he was even active against the Giants, he is nothing but a punt returner.

True, but Switzer also got a ton of first team reps throughout OTA's and minicamp when Cole Beasley was out with a hamstring himself. I remember that because the media was saying how he was emerging as Dak's favorite target.

As long as he doesn't miss any more practices between now and the opener, I think Switzer can still be a factor early on. There was a rapport between Dak and him and I hope it doesn't take long to recapture it.

And we used to call Wade Phillips' camps "camp cupcake". But this sort of stuff takes it to another leve.

This guy, realistically, shouldn't even make the team because he has proven nothing on the field to garner a roster spot - and I'm actually one who thinks Switzer can be a huge weapon.

For all this "open competition" Garrett always preaches, I'm not really sure how accurate that phrase really is

It seems like the team is being overly cautious on these rookies with hamstring issues
My take is Cowboys brass is going to try to stash these guys on the practice squad, therefore they aren't going to let these guys to show there skills.

Like DL M.Collins did nothing last preseason due to a foot injury...

Completely different situation. That was an injury severe enough that you knew he was gone for the preseason. This is a day to day hamstring strain that allows him to practice but not play.

Thanks for playing. Parting gifts at the door.

Eh, who cares, injuries happen on every team, we'll be fine. It's not quite as funny as players on other teams getting hurt but there is s small bit of humorous irony.

The new CBA doesn't give coaches a chance to prepare the rookies for camp.

Players didn't have near the number of injuries 20 years ago that they have today.
Then that's something that needs to change cuz' it's looking like these new guy's are approaching it as
"Do or Die" time in their mindset from day#1 and that also shouldn't be the pressure cooker stress these guys place themselves into to preform and make roster lock impressions,,, maybe a month long voluntary strength and conditioning course prior to training camp? I know they have the OTA's earlier but I'm talking position specific instructions made available

I'm glad that you aren't making the roster decisions then...

If you cut any of our top 5 draft picks, they will be as good as gone to another team.

He just needs to spend a lot of time catching punts because that all he will do if active in game 1.

Yea, in the future I think we can do some wicked sets and formations with him and Beasley, but I think 2017 was likely special teams only from the beginning
