Just read on the official website that Switzer did practice this week, but didn't get enough reps in to play Saturday. Bryan Broaddus said Switzer looked good and had burst.

To me, Switzer is probably going to play a lot in the last preseason game. I just hope that's enough to knock the rust off before the Giants game.

Bryan is about as credible as Mickey Spagnolia was.

It's cool though. At least he's safe. Preparation always takes a back seat to safety, which takes a back seat to feelings.

Punt returner is a big issue because they don't really have another one.
McFadden, Beasley, Bryant,,, all three viable and intrinsically more lethal than anything we've fielded for years, and yes I'd 'risk' it with any 3 of them,,, if they play smart,as in the sidelines their friend they wouldn't suffer un-do injury

Man if he can play he needs to be in there. He didn't get enough reps to play in a preseason game? Then how can we expect him to play in a real game?

So how does Ryan Switzer make the roster when he's done absolutely nothing to earn it?

Welcome to the problem around here.
Interesting...........is he headed for the PUP list? Catching punts in practice ain't cuttin' it.

I think anyone who thought he would pass Brice Butler on the depth chart even without the injury, hasn't been paying attention.

Pretty much. Switz will have a few gimmick plays designed for him-- think of him like Lucky Whitehead 2.0. His value at this point are his return skills and some leverage against Beasley when the time comes for a new contract.

Lot of angst over a guy who would be the #4 WR at best in week one.

More like #5.

Switzer would only get a handful of snaps on offense anyway... And he'll still probably get those.

There will be a handful of plays that he's starting practicing in mini-camp that will most likely still be run during an early regular season game.

At this point he's not expected to play 60 offensive snaps and know the entire passing offense.

We need a new strength and conditioning coach. Het one of these young hot shots out there, like from miami, seattle, or carolina.

He's not qualified for the PUP list.

And secondly he's the #5 receiver. He ain't getting many snaps in the starting offense.

Even without practicing much over the past 3 weeks there's no doubt in my mind he could go out vs. the Giants and run the 2 or 3 plays the offense has for him. And he plays the slot and not outside. He has a limited number of routes (at this point) he needs to know.

This isn't a real issue. The young DBs who haven't been receiving reps are, but not Switzer. He's not needed immediately at WR and he's going to be the best PR in the division the minute he straps on his tiny little helmet.

What would you do? He looked excellent in mini camp.

One thing they gotta cut down on is how much they make them run per day, atleast initially. It's apparently non stop defensive drills followed by special teams which is more running. Bound to tweak something, especially your first year when you don't really know how to pace yourself

I'm not saying you're wrong - but I don't understand what the big difference is between running in college and running in the pros.

I know college practices are limited to so many hours a week but I also know in the offseason players work out for hours on their own at the school facility including wind sprints, weights and drills and from friends I know who played Division I football, those workouts are brutal.

Why all of a sudden do you get to camp which involves the same running and cutting you are getting hamstring pulls. Also, I've been to training camp many times and there's a lot of standing around in between drills or scrimmage. It's not like it's two hours of nonstop action. I don't get it.
