Interesting read. That is going to do nothing for Talib but cost him money since a lot of people like about 4-5 corners more than him anyway.
Hey
goldenrichards83, I really like your trade scenario. Golden Richards, man that brings back great memories, great username.:star:

for the most part, i agree. but the question is how many of these other atheletes then are just not getting caught.

sorry - i understand how people get upset about this, but i'm not one of them. you can let a raging alcoholic pass w/o question but someone who smokes on occasion is held to a different standard.

maybe it's a flag. maybe not. it's not to me cause i don't put pot smoker into the thug category right off the bat.

Me either, but I put anyone in Talibs situation who smokes pot as borderline ********.

Pot use is so . . . unnecessary yet harmless.

I'd be more concerned if he were a boozer like most scouts at the combine.

Being a three time offender, I would have to take Talib off the board. That sounds like Chris Henry coming out of WVU. A shame ... I really liked him.

I agree. Doesn't matter how good you are, if your not on the field. I would use a late pick on him but I would not take him before the 4th round. JMO

oh look wat a surprise they get caught smoking pot but they're allowed to stay in school and go to the NFL when someone else does that they would get kicked out the school. Then the NFL wonders why they have "thugs" if people stop getting extra benefits and treated special just because they play sports it would be a hole different league. I am not saying that smoking weed makes these guys thugs but they should have been kicked out of school i know ppl who have gotten kicked out off college for smoking weed.

I don't think so. It would be treated as his first offense and get put in the substance abuse program.....I believe.

He only goes under the policy if he test at the combine and joins the NFL if I understand it correctly. His prior college test should have no bearing on his stance in the NFL substance abuse program. yes it hurts his draft stock and something to be weary off. I take him off my 1st round board as well

Because they can get suspended from the team if they are drafted and fail another test??!!

It is not a matter if I think smoking it is ok or not, I have no problem with people who do and presonally think it should be legal.

But I don't want some putz coming on the team, lighting up, getting caught and hurting the team. Not hard to figure out really...and apparently this guy is not smart enough not to get caught.

which is why i said i for the most part agreed with you as a concern. while i don't *like* the fact people do drug testing and the alcohol double standard is there - it is. i can't change that. if you have millions on the line or think you will, it's not worth it.

i know it's a standard of the nfl, one i don't like but not my call. so i agree he's being stupid for taking a risk he shouldn't take.

however, my point is i don't call him "thug" and "pacman" simply because he's smoked pot.

Did Talib fail these tests in his Freshman, Soph or Junior seasons? Did he fail the test once a season? Did he have any tests where he did not test positive and then 5 months later tested positive?

It's possible he hasn't touched any weed since his Freshman year. If it was last season and he failed all these tests at different times, as in he says he was passed it and then got caught again and then again, then this is a definite red flag.

He says he changed his ways after his daughter was born. So I am assuming he didn't fail any tests since then. That's a good sign IMO.

Unless they busted you on campus or at a school event, they wouldnt expel him.
If anything the only way they get caught is via a piss test which no regular student would have to submit to. All kinds of friends of mine up in Austin got popped for this and that and they never were expelled. Now that i think about it a friend of mine got kicked out of Jester for pot and he stayed in school.

and i know people who've been caught but haven't been kicked out. not college anyway. i hope you're not going back to high school to make this comparison.

in texas you can get caught with up to 2oz and it's a misdemeanor. laws are stepping back but yes, still a law. how many times do people get kicked out of school and prevented from working a job they're otherwise qualified for after committing a whopping misdemeanor?

some people simply overreact because they seem to think that watching reefer maddness is close to reality.

some people just make stuff up to fit their views/story cause they've not learned that's it's ok to be wrong in life, or to simply sit and learn.

I disagree, slushy!
Once, a loooong time ago when I did not inhale, that substance made me play the piano in a frenzied state. And I did not even know how to play the piano.

maybe you're just a prodigy and it took "relaxing" (the main benefit from it, as i understand it!) to get that out of you. : )
