I've already posted too much about a non-Cowboys player, but I'll sum up what I think about Tebow:

1. A video was just posted here recently that showed another Florida Gator that was on one knee balling like a baby...that guy was Emmitt Smith after a loss to Auburn...10-7, I believe. Do I think Tebow will be NEAR as successful as Emmitt was in the NFL? No way, but I do know that passion to win has not only forced Tebow to tears, but guys that we hold in high regard.

Thats the key, it's one thing AFTER the game. But crying like a baby DURING the game? That shows your teammates right then and there that it is hopeless. Just give up for today type attitude.

I work in Las Vegas in one of the Casinos. The other day I had a player on the table who said he had just come from Denver. Now there is no way for me to know whether he was telling the truth or not, but he said he went a Pro Shop (or whatever you might call it) in the airport and another at one of the popular Denver shopping areas. He stared in disbelief as the only Jersey for sale in either store was Tim Tebow's. Not one other Denver player's jersey was even for sale. I'm not sure who is buying all the Tebow jerseys. I just know if you live in Denver you aren't buying anything else.

I have a hard time believing that as they have some good young players.

Knowshon Moreno, Elvis Dumervil,Eddie Royal come to mind.

You're making an assumption that I'm some sort of Tim Tebow supporter.

I just don't understand the blind hate. I never once indicated that I was a Florida Gators, Denver Broncos, or Tim Tebow fan.

But I applaud your effort.

Thank you...

and to clarify

No I really did not make that assumption and took your post for what it said

I just don't understand the blind hero worship.

I am not rooting against Tebow..if he makes it fine, if he doesn't fine. I really don't give a flip either way.

and ya know I still love ya casmith

It was for the cameras? You know this?

Just as you can not prove it was not... I can not prove that it was... Sometimes you have to go by what your gut tells you there is no other way around it...You may feel differently about the guy but to me that was all show.

After the draft until the preseason would be a pretty dead time for jersey sells I would think. I bet the reign will be short lived.

I'm sure he's a great guy, it's the same as Reggie bush the build up of him is so collossal it turns you off to that person. A 50 yr old man saying he's a better person since he got to spend ten minutes in Tebows or anyones presence makes me want to puke.

You really think his work ethic is that much better than everyone else's in college football? I don't buy it, and it's not a knock on him. I just think it's a knock on the amount of time, effort and heart other atheletes at elite levels put in.

I got sick of hearing how Reggie Bush was a "once in a generation player", the guy wasn't even the best player in college football that year. It made me despise him and that wasn't fair because he wasn't saying it. I still felt that way.

It's the same with Tebow, is he that much better of a person than everyone else in college football? Based on? Mccoy never got in trouble, swam across a lake and saved someone, became the winningest college QB, replaced Vince Young after a National Championship, transformed his body from a skinny kid to a 3rd round pick in the NFL, and quickly became the leader of his team.

There are hundreds of just fantastic kids in college with stories of overcoming adversity that McCoy and Tebow never even dreamed of that's why we get such a Tebow backlash, it's nothing personal Tim.

Rant Off

Moreno was a first round pick last year and led all rookies in rushing I believe. He ran for 947 yards and 7 tds. Pretty impressive stats. He was one of the best selling rookie jerseys last year I believe.

Damn, you people hating on him for no reason is really lame. He isn't asking everyone to follow him and give him this praise. He's being himself, and he's a very strong leader and those of you who question that are absolutely foolish.

I don't think anyone's saying he's a better "person" per se, but he's accomplished so much in his football career and says and does everything in the right way. Obviously he's not perfect, and who can expect him to be? I'm sure he'll be the first to point that out.

And to the poster that said, "something's going on with him behind the scenes." Yeah, right. He's about as genuine as they come. Only thing going on behind the scenes are his Missions trips and all his time dedicated to helping other people, something I'm sure very few of you on here hating on him can say you've done.

He's never made a show of himself. He's never said "look at me!" He goes out, plays football, does his own thing in his personal time (and I WISH I could brag about that sort of free time resume) and does it all with no BS.

Usually when someone has a squeaky clean persona, it comes back to bite them in the rear. Here are some examples:

Remember Barry Sanders preaching to everyone about abstaining from premarital sex? It turned out he had a child out of wedlock himself.

Former MNF broadcaster Frank Gifford's wife, Kathy Lee, used to brag about how perfect her husband and kids were. Then he was caught on tape cheating with another woman.

And on a non-sports note, I don't know how old you are, but back in the 80s Vanessa Williams became Miss America and she put up this goody-goody perfect girl act. Well, let's just say some not-so-wholesome photos of her were revealed not long after that.

My point is, if you know you're not perfect, you shouldn't act like you are. Tebow has that holier-than-thou air about him. Like many others, I wouldn't be surprised if some "truth" comes out at some point. That doesn't mean I hate the guy. I'm just not as gullible as his persona needs me to be.

How about guys like Staubach in sports? Was he hiding some dark side? As for Tebow I don't think he is acting. Why are people being so jaded? The guy has done nothing so why not give him the benefit of the doubt that just maybe what you see is what you get believe it or not there are many good people out there who find happiness helping others and living a Christian life the best that they can.

I do not doubt that. Look at their roster. Since Marshall was traded, who else is marketable?

Kyle Orton? D.J. Williams? Brian Dawkins? Knowshon Moreno? They probably still sell more Elway jerseys than they would for these players.

That team lacks star power. Tebow, even though he hasn't played a down yet, is the most marketable player on that roster, so it makes economic sense at least.

I don't think he is hated overall because of his beliefs. I am sure there are some that do not care for the pushing of his belief system, but that's a small part of it. All you have to do is see how the media is falling all over themselves to follow his every move and overstate what he does off the field. And of course, this all-time overstatement is one I will never forget:

"In such a cynical, sarcastic society, often times looking for the negative on anybody or anything, if you're fortunate enough to spend five minutes or 20 minutes around Tim Tebow, your life is better for it." - Thom Brennaman

Perhaps some are buying the jersey to improve their lives.

I agree that some of the comments by some in the media is silly however Tebow can't control what a person says. Is he suppose to act like a jerk or go get drunk and in trouble to make others feel good about him? After all who wants a nice guy on the team. :laugh2:
