Terrance Williams Disappears

That's probably a function of him running longer routes than most of the other main receivers.

Yep. Williams' average catch came 14.0 yards down the field, compared with 10.1 for Dez, 7.2 for Witten and 4.6 for Beasley.

I checked Williams six worst games, catch-percentage-wise (not including the Weeden game), and the 14 incompletions thrown to him came an average of 16.6 yards down the field. Three of them were at least 30 yards downfield, and only two were less than 10 yards downfield.

T.Williams is definitely our big play guy. He might not have the number of catches that some would like, but he makes the biggest catches in the biggest moments.

Romo had a 108.0 passer rating, 71.2 completion percentage, 19 TDs and 5 INT when throwing to anyone but Dez last year.

Yep, major bustola.

Yeah Nice stats.

Let's see those stats if Dez were to go down, and the defense didn't have to worry about a Dez.

Williams will never be an elite receiver until he learns to catch the ball consistently with his hands instead of his body. It severely limits his catch radius and thus if you cant hit him in stride, its best not to throw to him.

All the top receivers in the league catch with their hands and not their body...............its not a coincidence

He was pretty damn good in the playoffs. Plus, he had "the strut" which I enjoyed so much:

Why would you want to see that? Are you rooting for Dez to get injured?

And the last time Dez missed a game, Romo put up 345 yards and a 116.4 rating, with three different receivers putting up 96 yards or more.

For a long while there, Terrance went through a period where he wasn't running his routes properly and Romo finally lost confidence in him. Consequently, the passes in TW's direction became much more infrequent.

Eventually, they managed to get more in tune with one another and things went significantly better from then on. TW's performance appears to be on the upswing now. He is arguably far more dynamic and consistent now than what he had been previously. I'm reasonably satisfied we haven't seen the best of him yet.

Two seasons in a row Terrance Williams has started the season strong, but fades badly in the second half of the season. I wonder what is going on with this kid. I'm in the camp that wouldn't be opposed to upgrading the WR2 position, but I do like this kid. I wish he would become a more reliably consistent catcher who uses his hands rather than his body.

We're going to need to lean on him more this year, so I hope he is there for us.

You "wonder" and "worry" too much. Just accept the fact that players are going to have moments of success and moments of disappointment; it's part of competition.

Let's just close the message board entirely.

We averaged 10.1 yards per attempt when throwing to Williams (10.9 in games Romo started), and 14.9 percent of the passes thrown toward him went for touchdowns (16.4 percent in Romo's games).

How will we ever solve this huge problem on our offense?

Without the running game of last year, the emphasis is placed more on the passing game. The focus will mostly be on Dez, meaning the team will have to lean more on Williams. What was his touchdown percentage in the second half of the season?

Don't worry, I'll wait.

I'm waiting for you to provide credentials that offer substance to your posts. For example, how did you reach the conclusion the running game would not be as effective as last year?

Yeah, I want Dez to get injured.

Bottom line, Romo would not put those numbers up consistently if there was no Dez.

Williams is not holding down the fort. No numbers or statistics you want to throw my way, will convince me otherwise. If I listened to numbers, and stats, I would of thought Ken Hamlin was All Pro back in 07

Man most of the times if it wasn't off just 1 big play for a TD..... We would work a team, all the way down the field using every weapon not named williams, then we would get in the Redzone, and we would do a quick pass to williams for a cheap TD.

Go look at his stats, a few of his games where he scored TD's he barely has any yards attached to them or receptions. Why? Because we did all the work and the D forgot about him, and he would score.

It's the equivalent to saying such and such RB is really good, because he get's TD's when we work the ball all the way down to the 5 yard line.

I call BS.....he doesn't disappear at all. We throw the ball 30 times a game now and he is a number two receiver. He steps up when teams double Dez. Alvin Harper averaged 30+ catches a year as a number two. Did he disappear?

3 TDs in the playoffs too

I think Williams is ok. Not a perfect or great player but he's a good WR. He "disappears" because he's the 3rd receiving option(maybe 4th) on a team that also likes to run the ball. I'm not sure we could realistically expect markedly better production from that spot.

Good analysis. TWill is probably the 4th option on most plays.
