I'm saying if we don't go to the playoffs because of his lack of production in the second half of the regular season, then those numbers are pretty moot.

You do realize that we went 6-1 down the stretch, right?

I'm glad he had some success in the playoffs, but I absolutely worry about him disappearing for long stretches next year, when we're going to need him to produce pretty consistently.

So you're going to be worried if we win a game by two touchdowns and he doesn't have a catch?

You were the one that started talking about romos numbers when Dez was out. That's why I said what I said about Romo not having Dez. You took it off subject.

You are mistaken. YOU brought up Dez being out, not me. Your exact quote was: "Let's see those stats if Dez were to go down, and the defense didn't have to worry about a Dez."

I never said anything about Dez in this entire thread until you started talking about Dez going down with an injury.

if you think Williams is a great number 2, then you have low standards.

I never said he was a "great" No. 2 receiver. I do think he's more than adequate, though, especially for a guy who has played only two seasons and who is on a team that passed so little last season and has the No. 1 receiver and tight end that we do.

I don't care about his touch downs

Interesting ...
he barely does anything that leads up to those TD's.
Would you rather have him fall down at the 1-yard line instead, so he can set up a TD instead of scoring them?

So you're saying he's excellent at getting wide open for big plays?

Come on man. He was in on most every passing snap and you've listed his targets. I'm not saying that he is not good at getting open but unless you make 'routes run' the denominator it's not a fair assessment of his performance. The figures you have as the numerator aren't compelling given that.

Williams was a real nice pick and has been productive. I don't think he is going to be more than a solid number two receiver though, and there is nothing wrong with that. IMO he is a guy you get a lot of use from but he is a guy you don't resign to that bigger second contract when his rookie deal is done.

We didn't win those games because of him. Again, I know you're smarter than this, so I'll try again... Without the success of the running game from last year, we will need him to be a consistent producer on offense, if we're going to win a lot of games next year.

Romo had a 108.0 passer rating, 71.2 completion percentage, 19 TDs and 5 INT when throwing to anyone but Dez last year.

Yep, major bustola.

You are basically implying that romo could do what he does with or without Dez.

Nice try, spin it how you want, tell me I'm putting words in your mouth, it does not matter to me. I know what you meant when typing this. So yeah. You brought it up first.

Outside of a couple of games, most of his touch down games end with 20-30 yards. What does that tell you? We get to red zone and he gets his cheap TD there.

So he does no work during the games. So I don't want to hear anyone bring up his touch down totals. It's deceiving.

If that's the case there are a bunch of number 2 running backs who just come in on goal line situations, that should be starting in the NFL, because the get touch downs.

Beasley just like last year. Williams and Escobar play the weakside and Tony seldom has to look that way with those 3 over the other way.

If you're trying to argue that Beasley has supplanted Williams on the priority list, I think you're making a case against him.

I think if you are trying to make me pick sides then you are barking up the wrong tree. How we choose to look at things does not dictate reality.

This is not a zero sum game where TWill becomes less talented as Beasley improves either.

My concern is consistency.
