I see the potential. But I really wished they hadn't have tried to force this so hard last night. It could have cost us more than what it did.

Harris is the better option. Big play potential be damned-- Williams has not earned half of what Harris has.

+1

This is kind of thing that baffles me about JG. Why was it necessary for Williams to be so involved in the game last night? It's not like we don't have any other options. It was a season opener. A prime time divisional game. In front of home crowd. I bet all the rookies were nervous as heck. He hasn't played alot in the preseason. Why is he getting that many snaps?

Bring the kid along slowly. For now, we have better options. It's not like he is a high 1st round pick that "has" to play now. Let him learn the offense before giving him so much playing time.

I don't get it, in the past Garrett was hollered at for not getting guys out on the field and now he is getting it because they are? Williams has good talent he will learn from his mistakes. As for why he got so many snaps chances are they like Miles int he slot and Williams is a true outside WR while Harris is a slot guy.

He definitely has had me furious on dropped balls and blown routes. I hope he can pull it together and get it right, but some of his mistakes are just about stupid stuff. Like that ball he flat out dropped, he dropped it because he tried to catch the ball with his body instead of his hands. Stuff like this should've stopped during training camp, I can live with a wrong route or two because I understand those will stop eventually.

This was the first thing I noticed in watching his "highlights" from college. Kid needs to learn how to catch with his hands and not his chest... Until he does that, it'll be drop city and inconsistent production.

is garbage.
Didn't like the draft pick; Haven't seen anything impressive in this player. He seems awkward and below-average in basically every regard. What am I missing?

good god man, he's played in 1 NFL game before and quite likely had some serious jitters going on. so you didn't like the draft pick. build a bridge and get over it already. i hate it when someone doesn't like the pick they have to shout out in here how much the player sucks without even giving said player a chance. and why don't they give the player a shot?

CAUSE THEY WENT BOO HOO ABOUT THE PICK.

not gonna miss your posts.

I think the idea with Harris is that since he's a key guy in special teams for punt returns and coverage, they want to keep it that way. He was really spectacular in special teams coverage last night and is a very good returner (had 9.5 yards per return last night). Tough to get that from him if he's playing WR full-time. So the idea is probably along the lines that in 11 personnel, they feel they can be better with Miles playing the Y and moving Williams to the Z and they like that more than Harris playing the Y and Miles playing the Z. On top of that, keeping Harris fresh for special teams.

That is called growing pains. It hurts now but he will progress far more rapidly if he is thrown into the fire, so to speak. Let this dude get in as many high pressure situations as possible. Then he might actually be valuable come playoff time. And if you're worried about "hurting his confidence" then he is too thin-skinned to be a true NFL receiver anyway and it's better to find that out sooner rather than later.

Yes, his mistake cost us a pick six. But I can guarantee he'll never make that mistake again. LOL.

It was his first real NFL game. The guy was getting open. I'm sure he'll start catching better once he settles in.

That bad route on the interception cost Dallas between 6 and10 points. Came close to potentially being a 14point swing. You tell he felt terrible about it. Just a rook though.

Must be trolling because anyone with an ounce of intelligence would never declare a draft pick as "Garbage" after only one game.

Is Terrence Williams garbage? No

Is he rediculously raw? Yes

He's got a long way to go but he should be able to run 3 or 4 routes for us this year and stretch the sideline.

This is one of those guys that will take some time to develop and im not sure how patient the coaches will be with him after the next time he screws up.

I think Williams can be a quality player, but the problem here in dallas is how often the competitive process is circumvented. Just because you were drafted high and you get the label of having a ton of potential, you get put in the game over guys who've shown it on the field?

True. I frankly like how Romo blew up at him then later went back and talked to him on the sideline. The kid made a mistake he will learn but he also has very good talent that can help this team.

Many rookie WRs need time on the jugs. He'll get it or he'll be out. They'll give him time to develop. He has good speed and more quicks than I thought. While he probably just needs to learn one position right now he looks like he might be able to play the slot, too, at some point.

I have no problem with Williams getting some real game experience. But the way and the amount he was targeted last night doesn't make sense. It could potentially have cost us the game.

I was concerned about his play last night as well. He did make a couple of nice catches but that wide-open drop should never happen. I thought he would have learned from that in pre-season and here he is catching it in his body again.

First game, he should get better with more reps and a better understanding of defenses. Out of him and Escobar, I like Williams the most at this point in their careers. I think he has more upside IMO.

Never been sold on Williams. Bad hands and nothing special stands out about him. However I'm willing to give it time and hope I'm wrong. But last night Beasley would have been a better option given the Giants coverage

Well it was a good matchup for him too.

NYG was playing 2 deep safeties so sending him on go routes and opening up the middle of the field was most likely apart of the plan.

He's a raw rookie. That being said, he should be taken out during crucial third down plays. He needs more time to develop. Let him develop on 1st and 2nd down for now.
