probably getting hoza scott on the 12th as well.

it is my opinion that the sec screwed up. they let in a team that didn't wanna play their brand of football and then that team beat the big dog and now all the kids have taken notice. atm now gets to sell recruits on sec defense, sec caliber of competition, and now a high powered O that puts up points as well as playing for the next three years with a Heisman trophy winning QB.

I know us UT fans talked a lot of crap about them being a door mat for 5 years but I think we will be eating crow for a long time because I really see a national championship in their future.

seriously this situation at texas is starting feel more and more like bobby bowden at FSU. hoza scott, rsj, manning, nick harvey.....these are the type of tough athletic football players texas needs. i'm seriously starting to hate mack and his recruiting style. he's trying to take all of these players that fit a certain "image" and it's really pissing me off. he's pretty much forfeited inner city dallas to the aggies at this point in order to get these prissy little central texas kids who never amount to squat in their four years on the forty acres. idk why he neglects that area, golden triangle, and east texas so much.

well the thing you have to realize is that mack is pretty much the closer, it's up to the rest of the coaches to be an awesome recruiter and with as much staff turn over as we have had it really opens the door for other schools because these coaches don't have those relationships with the highschool power houses that our old staff did. Our coaches now are having to work harder to get these recruits because the HS coaches aren't recruiting for the school like they used to. There is a reason major and akina are our most consistent recruiters that get their guys right now.

I really wanted RSJ but if we don't lose big names like a'shawn I really like our class this year except we are really going to have to find a safety. We also flipped some guys down the stretch last year and got a stud like daje because of it so hopefully we can get a guy in that manner again this year

In addition to McEvoy, it appears that we are also considering a couple of other JC QB options. Iowa Western CC's Jake Waters, and Tyler Ferguson, who plays for College of the Sequoias. Both are considered pro-style prospects.

This is the doing of Harsin. He clearly is not happy with what Texas has done at QB and what he has to work with. I'm not above good JC players but I think those who have said that Texas has not done a good job of recruiting QBs are being shown to be more right then wrong. Texas has been loaded with QB talent for several years and Texas just has not taken advantage as they should have.

The good news is that things will turn around. TAMU has gotten a lot of recruits but they also had a lot more ships to work with.

Next year, we will be in much better shape where available ships are concerned. We will sign a lot more talent but I do agree, we needed a Safety and we didn't get the one we really wanted.

Marcell Harris out of Orlando was the guy we really wanted and we were in his top 3 but we lost him to Muschamp.

We really need to upgrade our Safety and LB positions.

UT's staff is ignoring Overstreet and I think they're missing out, he's sitting there on the Longhorn bench un-utilized and Art Briles' offensive coordinator Phil Montgomery said he saw shades of RG3 in the guy coming out of high school, Baylor couldn't get him.

they aren't ignoring him he isn't vibing with harsin, they have been arguing and harsin isn't happy with where he is in his development. I have LHN and the guy really can't hit the broad side of a barn. He constantly misses receivers on the run and even when they do 40 yard lobs into the basket net in the endzone he misses. Plus the plan with him from the beginning was to redshirt, if they had ever had to start third string it would have been brewer.

I have no doubt that his athleticism probably makes up for a lot of deficiencies he may have as a passer but I only get to see the first 8 periods of practice so I don't see what he does full speed

Issues for Overstreet is he's a 2-A QB, who functions in a spread/zone read O, looking up at a prospect like Conner Brewer who's exactly the opposite and fits what the UT offense is trying to morph into.

I'd bet he's already putting the feelers out in regards to transferring.

I think the whole notion that ATM is owning recruiting is a bit overstated, last ranking I saw after RSJ committed to them had them at six and us at 8, and that's with their SEC size 34 commits, we only have 14 at the moment. I'm not too worried about it, there is plenty of talent to go around.

SEC has nothing to do with the 34 commits for A&M. Sumlin only signed 19 last year, releasing anyone from their commitment who didn't want to play under him or in the SEC. Of the 34 this year 9 will be coming as mid-term signees before spring practice and will actually count to the 2012 recruiting class. The SEC has a cap of 25 but we are allowed to continue filling out last year's class. The SEC cap was 28 but they changed it in 2011 to 25.

Texas still clearly holds an edge in Texas with 4 recruits in the top 10 for ESPN compared to A&M's 2 and 7 ESPN 150 commits to A&M's 6. And that is with the small number of guys Texas has committed so far. I think most people are just surprised to see some of these guys that probably would have gone somewhere else are now heading to A&M. Mack Brown still owns the state of Texas, Sumlin is just doing a good job of keeping the guys UT missed in the state.

This is more about available ships then anything. TAMU has 34 commits. Texas has 14. This is going to turn around once the numbers balance out a bit. TAMU will recruit players and Texas will also but it's not going to be like it is this year. The ships will even out and that will bring a little order to the recruiting efforts.

Those predicting the demise of Texas football must realize it is but a phase, too many resources to stay lethargic forever, it may feel like a return to the Mackovic years for a season but it will pass.

A&M suffered through late RC Sloucum, Dennis Francione, Mike Sherman spoiling good recruits before finally appearing to get the formula right.

Baylor suffered a horrific time the first 12 years of the Big 12 with crappy coaches like Dave Roberts, Kevin Steele and Guy Morriss replacing the legendary Grant Teaff.

It will pass, take heart...but watch those other teams in the meantime.

That is a guy I won't worry about until he is signing. He already committed and decommitted to Bama and Auburn, until ink is on paper I won't believe a word he says. He would be a great steal but I'm not getting my hopes up.
