I think Baylor's offense is more receiver friendly than UT's, and with Briles' quarterback recruiting reputation coupled with the fact Baylor is likely to send another wideout to the NFL Draft in the first round next year, it's not a tough place to sell a wideout to come aboard and shine.

I don't get that feeling. If you watch Boise St., then you can see what the passing game will be at Texas. It's just a matter of time.

I think this is a pretty big assumption at this point. First of all, Texas has to find a capable quarterback to operate the offense. Second, they have to start developing wide receiver talent better as it seems most of their recruits in recent years are either busts or have left the program. Finally, the offense has to be shown to be effective outside of the WAC.

I don't think there's any question that Baylor is a more attractive destination for receivers right now, all other preconceived notions about the two programs aside.

I don't. Texas has the top ranked QB in the country commited in Swoops, they have Brewer who has talent this year, they have two young QBs who should be much better and they have one of the best OCs in the college game. If they had the old coaching staff, then I could probably agree with your statement a bit more. However, because they now have Brian Harson, I don't think it's a stretch at all. He will install the same kind of offense we saw at Boise St., just with superior athletes. As for your statement about the offense, well, that's a talent question, not an offensive scheme question.

At this point, Baylor is in worse shape offensively then is Texas. They lost some very key players from their offense and they won't be replacing those folks easily. Your statement about Baylor being a more attractive destination, based on your reasoning, doesn't hold water.

Chuckle... here's betting that the author of that piece went to Baylor...

The truth is, this is ONE recruit that Baylor snatched away from Texas, but the Bears have hardly "outrecruited" the Horns in this 2013 class... Rivals.com lists Baylor as having the 19th best recruiting class in the nation, with 12 signees-- no 5 star recruits, 1 4 star recruit, 10 3 star recruits, which adds up to 11, so I guess they have on recruit who grades out at 2 stars or less... the average star rating for their 12 recruits is 3.0, and Rivals gives them a grade of 885 (to be honest, I have no idea how they compile those grades)...

Meanwhile, the Horns currently have the 4th ranked recruiting class in the nation, with 15 signees, 1 5 star recruit, 9 4 star recruits, 4 3 star recruits, and 1 recruit with 2 starts or less... the average star rating for their recruits is 3.79, and their Rivals grade is 1913...

Here's hoping Baylor "out-recruits" the Horns every year like this... :D
Whoa cowboy, whoa:) I was talking about a player, not a sensational news headline, but the headline didn't hurt my feelings.

True they lost superstar QB, possibly the best QB in Big 12 history, but they actually are going to be just as good if not better at receiver, are replacing the Big 12's leading rusher with a five star recruit that transferred from Oregon in Lache Seastrunk, and return 3 starters on the offensive line and have a quarterback who i respectfully promise is better than Ash.

So they may not be as flashy at signal caller but i don't expect a tremendously different team in terms of production.

Now their porous defense needs to improve, so we'll see what recruiting did for that in a positive manner.

Aikbach, none of that post was aimed at you... I was mocking the tone the writer took...

I don't disagree that they have talent coming in but I don't agree, based on the circumstances provided by Slant that Baylor's situation is better. From the QB perspective, Texas clearly has a better situation because they have more talent and experience coming back at the position. They are better because they have Brewer coming in and Swoops commited. That is much, much more talent and experience at the position then Baylor. They have a much stronger Running Game then does Baylor and they have vastly improved OL that is only acquiring more talent. If I'm a WR, I don't see the huge advantage that Baylor offers of the talent or offense at Texas. This is really not a statement on Baylor. I was simply pointing out that the argument put forth was not a very convincing one in why Baylor might be more attractive from a talent or scheme standpoint.

I had posted earlier on Caleb Benenoch (Katy/Seven Lakes) being at Texas for a recruiting function this past weekend and about Brown having a private conversation with Benenoch. Apparently Benenoch has announced that he has de-committed from Michigan State and speculation is that this will open the door for a move to UT or possibly OU who also offered him as recently as last night. It is only speculation but based on previous activities, it does track.

Also, the recent signing of offer for Geoff Swaim, the JUCO TE by Texas was a bit of a head scratcher by some but if you look at it closer, it makes all the sense in the world. Texas has what many in the country believe to be the finest RB talent in College Football. They have revamped their OL and have several quality underclassman coming back on the OL this year and several quality recruits coming in on the 2012 class (Kennedy Estelle - Camerhon Hughes - Curtis Riser - Donald Hawkins ) and the follow on 2013 class (Darius James - Kent Perkins - Jake Raulerson and possibly Benenoch or Billings). Swaim is probably the very best blocking TE prospect anywhere in the country. Texas offered him specifically to solidify the OL and add that much more strength to an already loaded group of OLs.

Update on ATH Ricky Seals-Jones. The family was going to cancel the trip today because a lot of the UT coaches were not on campus, but the staff is going back specifically for him so things are back on. RSJ will be accompanied by his parents and possibly his AAU coach.

This doesn't surprise me at all to be honest. He said that Texas was still number one on his list.

BTW, he was at TAMU yesterday.

A&M got commitmets from two nationally ranked corners today, oneof whom just decommitted from Tech a few days ago.

The other TAMU commit is Tavares Garner out of Manvel. I think he's probably the better of the two signings but we will see.

RS-J on his visit to Texas yesterday.

"Good day at Texas. I just talked to the coaches and took a tour of the basketball campus," he said. "It felt good to be there again. Texas is still No. 1 in my heart."
