Just looking at the box score...why did Wash bring Feliz out of the pen tonight?

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe since he was technically supposed to start tonight because the rain delay? I don't know.

Due to the rotation getting thrown off from the double header, they decided to give Feliz some rest early rather than later in the season. The said they didn't do that with Ogando last year and he started to really wear down late in the season. (basically said, we lived and learned)

New Ranger record:

First time the team has ever started the season winning 6 straight series.

Congrats Rangers and keep it going!

The Rangers are currently the only team in the Majors that have not lost back to back games too. Nice little stat right there. :)

Robbie Ross is a beast right now...finally a good lefty in the bullpen after the days of Darren Oliver

I'm going to a Roughriders game this weekend, so I'll get to see some the young bucks.

Rays are tough...I'd hate to play them again in the playoffs. Beating them 3 years in a row is a tough task.

Agreed... this could be a legendary battle...

what happened to hamilton?

Back stiffness and is day to day. Hopefully it isn't serious. But knowing him it will linger all season.

He gets better every game... when he is on, well... I've never seen anything like him... he makes hitters look plain silly...

Nice to see him starting to settle in... bad news for the rest of the league...

Nolan strikes again...

Speaking of Nolan he was in Huntsville today and had a talk with students. Very humble genuine guy. I'm glad he is the face of the Rangers.

I want everyone in Japan to be wearing a Texas jersey :D
you know with all the advertising and merchandise sells he's generating, i'm pretty sure the rangers will recoup that $52M transfer fee easily.

So...

That Yu Darvish guy is pretty good.

You know Blue Jays fans are quite pissed right now they missed out on him. The media was telling everyone that they won his rights before it was announced that the Rangers actually won his rights.

I'll say.

4-0 now and real strong.

Even after giving up what was it 5 runs in his debut, he already has his ERA back down to 2.18. Only Colby Lewis (1.93) has a better ERA of the starting pitchers.

Both pitchers are in the top 6 in the league for ERA. Top 5 if you only include pitchers that have pitched at least 30 innings. (#1 has only pitched 22 innings. Colby: 32.2 innings, Yu 33 innings)

What's scary is that he still doesn't have complete control of some of his pitches and still struggles at times throwing first pitch strikes. Imagine how good he'll be when he consistently starts getting up in the count.

Still? I heard he is up to 70+ percent not only strikes, but first pitch strikes. (his last two starts, Yankees and Blue Jays)

They (the Blue Jays guys) were raving about that last night saying when you first see a pitcher you usually sit back and take a look at his stuff. They say it's tough to do it against Yu because you will be down 0-2 and immediately be forced into a safety (put it in play) swing.

That's a huge part of the Maddux approach. Pound the strike zone early and often.
It's true, the stats show it, once a batter is down in the count even 0-1, his odds go way down.
