Say what you want about Michael Young's production but he is still an important part of the team. His reaction after hitting the home run after Nellie got hit was simply priceless.

The first pitch after they hit Nellie he takes them yard and basically speeds around the bases. And got to Nellie and was basically like "that was for you" and everyone was emphatically getting excited and pumped up. I'm sure there are videos. It just seemed like a great leadership type moment.

First pitch huh? Nice. I knew he hit the dinger, just every account I read was talking about the Royals announcers. I will need to find the video.

Haha yeah the Royals announcers were being tools from the video I heard. I'm sure I'm making a bigger deal of it than it was, just happy to see Young to do well because he knows he isnt up to his usual par.

My computer has been broken so I can't watch MLB TV right now like I have been able to.

I am currently watching the game in the lab though and Yu is looking real good out there. KC may not be great but they have plenty of talent in that lineup.

It's like Murphy and Young swapped bats this season (kind of). If Young can heat up we are insanely dangerous. Next stop, Napoli.

What are the Rangers going to do? Michael Young still has one year left on his contract at around $13M I believe. (I thought it was much more, but Roto world says $13M.) I'm really not wanting to let Murphy go, though what are you going to do? If Hamilton stays (probably not) you need a center fielder and with Kinsler probably moving to the outfield when Profar comes up. Kinsler probably takes Murphy's spot. I'm guessing Leonys Martin would replace Hamilton as a center fielder, though they may get someone else with more experience to help fill in to give Martin more time.

Cruz is up for $10.5M next season and has escalators that can add another $500k.

I think Cruz and Hamilton could be gone in the next two years. That might be enough to keep Murphy depending on what other teams are willing to offer him. Then you could have Murphy in left, Martin in center, Kinsler in right in the outfield. Definitely not as scary as it is today and as good defensively as they are today.

Gotta say, I don't think I'm so comfortable with Kinsler in the outfield though. Especially in right. Kinsler has a good arm, but nothing like Nellie's arm. I love Nellie's cannon in right. I'm pretty sure Kinsler isn't going to want be a DH this early in his career. You could put Murphy in right and Kinsler in left, but the same problem exists.

Messy messy messy. Maybe the best thing to do is take a hit next year by trading these ending contracts (next year, not this year) to grab more outfield talent in the minors. I think we are set in the infield for some time.

Yeah it really is mess and complicated. Young is my favorite player, but sadly I think it is his last year as a Ranger. I really don't know what to think of Josh, I hope he stays, but I think he will also leave. And Nellie will play out his contract here and get a big offer somewhere and he will be gone. If Murphy keeps up his pace he will demand some money as well. Ian will have to go through some years of being moved around just like Young did. I just think 2 years from now it will be a very different looking team.

We re-sign Josh and everything is fine. Kinsler in left, josh center, nelly right. Then you keep the corner of beltre and Andrus the same. Profar at 2nd (more of a power hitter if that really matters), and rotate Mitch/Olt at first. Catcher is still a weakness. I think Josh stays; I have faith in the new ownership. If we can throw $100 mil to get an unproven Yu I like our chances with Josh.

We probably lose Napoli, Murphy, Cruz eventually. Wish Murph could stay; unfortunately he's getting recognition now which is great for him bad for us.

A move like this would ultimately kill the Rangers as we know it.

Sign Hamilton to a max deal, and lose 3 players in the process?

OR

Lose Hamilton and sign 3 players, have money left over to sign somebody else..

OR

Lose Hamilton and sign 2 players and have money left over to upgrade pitching.

I'd definitely be willing to lose Cruz, Napoli, and murph :)( ) for josh. I hate it but it's the better option. That's why you trust the farm. Lock up your stars and let the farm do the rest.

If he is anything like his brother, HELL YEAH! :laugh2:

=================================

Rangers sign 16-year-old brother of top prospect Jurickson Profar

The Rangers have signed 16-year-old INF Juremi Profar, the brother of top prospect INF Jurickson Profar. Juremi Profar is primarily a third baseman who, at 6-1, 185, is bigger than Jurickson was at the time the Rangers signed him.

The As have lost three straight while the Rangers have taken 2 of 3. The AL West lead back up to 5.5 games.

Magic Number is 20. But Roy Oswalt sucks and has been a huge disappointment so no making the number 19 today.
