I don't know what got into the As, but they are playing extremely well. They are 3 wins away from their win total all of last season and they still have 34 games left and are playing well above .500 ball. They could easily improve their record by 20+ games over last season. That is very impressive.

We have a 4-game series with them at home at the end of September. Could prove to be a very important one if they continue to keep pace with us. Good thing we're on a hot streak as well or this could be neck-and-neck right now.

Oakland's September schedule is far far rougher than Texas September schedule though. We'll see.

There is an unwritten rule that for no extended stretch can more than 2 Rangers pitchers be pitching well at the same time. Now that Darvish is pitching better, either Harrison or Dempster had to tank for a few starts. I guess it's Harrison...

I still think we'll win the division, but the A's are making things a little less comfortable.

Martin Perez, Tanner Scheppers, Yoshinori Tateyama, Brandon Snyder and, Leonys Martin have also been called up for the expanded roster.
