Texas Rangers Thread

Back to back four dinger nights for the Rangers. :)

Who is this Moreland kid and why does he keep firing Jacks! :)

Mitch has been unbelievable. He has always shown flashes of this but never put it together. And to stick up for Mitch a little bit here he has always gotten on these rolls and then he gets hurt, and a lot of the time before now that he was actually playing he was playing injured and wasn't wanting to let his team down (much like football players do, it's just hard to consistently hit a baseball for average when you aren't healthy).

But anyway, Mitch plays baseball the right way, so I'm behind him, I hope it lasts for years to come.

Gallardo with a gem. I hope we can keep him next season, he's been pitching lights out lately.

Well, we suck haha.

The good news is we have a ton of young talent right now and it seems like we're trying to get rid of Choo, I wonder how much of that contract we're going to have to eat.

We have 5 prospects in the Top 50 MLB prospects right now, and that doesn't include Deshields, Odor, or Chi Chi. Also doesn't include Profar coming back, although he has quite a road ahead of him. He is long tossing right now though so that's encouraging.

Deshields and Odor are looking good for their experience levels and both have a lot of speed. Some of the outfield prospects we have coming up have a lot of speed too.

Not a lot of power in this league right now (probably given all the attention to PED's lately), so it's nice we have Gallo in the wings, hopefully he can take it to the next level sooner rather than later. A lot of speedy, defensive, contact hitters surrounding Fielder/Moreland/Gallo/Hamilton? next season would be ideal. If Profar can bust his butt doing rehab, he could take Elvis' spot next season, who is just a complete disappointment right now.

At this point, i think this year is about evaluation.. It'll be fun to watch our rotation start to come back and see how they perform over the course of the year, and how Deshields and Odor continue to acclimate to the big leagues.

I was afraid to talk about how well they are playing. Might jinx it, haha.

Nods, they have been playing well. The Astros have too making it difficult to gain ground. The Astros lost last night, so we finally gained a half a game on them. The Angels have now lost 4 straight, so the Rangers are now leading the wildcard.

There is enough games left that if the Rangers keep playing at their current pace, they can catch the Astros even if the Astros also continue to play well. If it weren't for that massive stumble the Rangers took a while back, they would be leading the Astros.

The Astros are just gosh awful on the road, lost 29 of their last 38 on the road. Plenty of road games left. And the Rangers are finally playing well at home.

It will be an interesting last month. Starting rotation, and bullpen are now solid, although not great. But just keep playing good baseball. Going to be a tough series with the blue jays.

I think it would be an outstanding accomplishment to make a wild card, but a division title would still be sweet.

I don't know -- our pen is still weak.
Diekman coming over with Hamels has been a big bonus.

Would love to see Holland and our starters shine, but they may not be able to throw as many innings at the end of the year, and our pen may be exposed.

Oh I agree it still is weak, but adding Diekman and Dyson have been a huge help, and Kela has been great since his Double A rest assignment. As long as the starters can go 6-7 it won't get exposed too bad. Holland should be well rested and I hope he doesn't have any issues to work through coming off an injury. Hamels, Holland, Perez, Gallardo, and Lewis is a solid rotation, not great, but solid, can chew up innings and hopefully put the offense in a position to win the game.

It will be an interesting final month. The Banister never ever quit attitude is really instilled in these guys. I just hope we don't forget how to play for a week and lose all positioning. Had 2 or 3 week long crap fests this year, can't afford one now.

Rangers lose. Astros, Angels, and Twins win. I knew I shouldn't have said anything. Haha

Sucks to blow a save against a good team like the Jays. Missed opportunity.

What the Rangers have accomplished this season has exceeded my expectations.

I just look at the pitching staff and question if they have what it takes to make it to the playoffs.

Are you kidding? Their pitching staff has been solid lately, including starters, relievers, and closers.

Rangers win big against WPBCowboy's Orioles. Love it. This team has no give up.

That was gem pitched by Holland.
Masterful

They offered MLB.tv for $10 for the rest of the season. The way they are playing, makes me want to do it. (I used to get MLB.tv every year, but not for the last two) Of course, the second I do it they will tank. (they've done it before) I almost did it a little while back, but I held off and they did start tanking. They've rebounded since though :)

I'm in Dallas, so I get all their games.

Does MLB.tv allow you all of their games the rest of the way?
if so, $10 bucks is well worth it.

Yep, but it ends with the playoffs. MLB.tv gives you all regular season games for all teams. (not just Rangers) Of course, blackouts apply based on local availability.

It's really awesome at the end of the season because you get to watch other games of teams with division leads on the line. Some of the best baseball of the regular season.
