Oklahoma is going to smoke Texas. That's sad. And what's with all the in-fighting with the Texas players? The players may have felt some entitlement before Strong, but at least they loved playing for Mack Brown.

This is just disgraceful of late.

Texas may not win another game this season. People can defend Strong all they want but this team is worse than last season.

People thought when Strong came aboard that they were getting a coach with Brian Shaw pedigree. At this point, not sure the Athletic Department allows Strong to finish the season.

I defended Strong, but there should be at least SOME improvement. I've seen absolutely no proof of an upward trend.

Charlie Strong is the black version of Charlie Weiss. Hype and no substance.

It really is difficult to defend the product we're seeing on the field. And the embarrassment that follows is new for each player, fan, and most of the coaches. None of us think we have to put up with this.........this is UT, for Christ's sake! (there is some dispute that Christ actually was a Longhorn)

Mack's ship began to lose its rudder while Vince young was there, because the looseness that VY embodied still led to success, largely due to his amazing fit in the read option. He and his buds just did their thing, made practice fun, and attracted a lot of the same type of recruits -- the kind that may have had an air of entitlement and and subpar work ethic on the field and in the classroom.

If truth be told, I'd bet Strong wouldn't have taken the job if he realized how pervasive the disease was that turned Longhorns into fat lazy cows.
If he'd been able to accurately assess how many players would need to be booted out, and had seen what little was left over, he probably would have declined the offer. If he did know the depths of the problems and came anyway, then he deserves all my respect for tackling so much dysfunction.

Regardless, firing him won't change our personnel. We have a freshman team that makes mistakes. There is no quick fix, but we should go from 4-8 to 7-5 to 9-3 by 2017. I know, that's optimistic, but that's just how I look at it. I've also heard that patience is a virtue.

Don't know what to tell you other than I will gladly take Mack way including 2 trips to the National Championship and 1 win over what I am seeing from Strong. I still contend top programs turnaround do not take as long as I have seen teams come off suspension with very limited recruiting play better than this. This season could end up a 1 win season over Rice and people can say what they want on mack but none of his team ever played like this crap I am seeing from Strongs team. Sooner he is out of here the better

Just now finding this thread. I have been in the give Strong time camp for a while.... but that is starting to go away because there are NO SIGNS of improvement along the way. If the FLUKE special teams gaffes had not occurred there's a chance we would have 3 wins.... so I had to give him the benefit of the doubt. I still am not sure I'm ready to can him. I'm just CONFUSED. I didn't read the other 6 pages of this thread so.... as Cowboys fans.... what do you think about the possibility of Chip Kelly. I do NOT want him. Maybe it's my Cowboys bias/Eagles hate but I don't. I don't know who else is out there which is why I'm willing to see how this season shakes out with Charlie... thoughts?

I don't want his fast-paced, gimmicky, trick offense. He pays no attention to defense. It's all finesse offense for Chip, and everything else seemingly takes a back seat. That, and I don't want to see the Longhorns wearing 12 different uniform combinations.

DITTO

On Hornfans.com where I lurk and sometimes post I'm the ONLY one who doesn't want him and exactly because of his offense. Even if he were still at Oregon and never coached the Fecals, I can't stand his offense.

I can see why one would say it started then but you really started to see it in the Colt era. Mack was lucky that Colt was a gamer and a great leader. He also had great leaders on the coaching staff too as well as good recruiters. But Mack started to get lazy. Stopped recruiting players like Vince. Couldn't recruit a top running back to save their lives after Jamal Charles. They just went with what was the player on a star rating system in Texas instead of the best player for the program. Classes basically finished by the end of April which was 9 months before NSD.

I think Strong does stay his 3rd year regardless of what happens but if he doesn't improve and Texas still is not a contender for the conference in 2016, I think Tom Herman will be a good candidate.

A record Texas could be looking at. Worst finish in Texas Longhorns history. 1938 1-8 and 1-9 in 1956

I remember seeing Mack Brown teams getting blown out badly by OU. They most definitely played like crap in those games. Games where you could see DBs give up on tackles. I recall a Brown team playing against NCSU in 1999 that had a few punts blocked, which cost them the game. They were so poorly coached that when the Wolpack lined up 10 players to block the punt the Longhorns gunners never left their split positions to move closer to the line to make sure they had enough blockers. Brown didn't reach a BCS bowl game until his 7th season. He was given time in his coaching tenure. He inherited a team that had talent. Strong has not. This is a complete re-build. Anyone who thinks a coach could have come into Austin and immediately turned the team around is delusional and ignores just how far down Brown let the program slip.

Mack is a much better coach than Strong will ever be. Mack earned his what the hell has strong did expect make Texas a complete embarrassment? Look if Horns fans like it fine, I will be happy when they clean house.

Stoops is weak. This is just like 2013 when they were dominated by the underdog Texas team. It looks like his coaches and team didn't prepare at all
