Often history gets mis-remembered...or forgotten. So let's review the 2016 Divisional Cowboys-Packer Playoff game, shall we?

I like to aim for a scientific, objective approach, though with football it's difficult, if not imposible. We're all humans and football doesn't occur in a lab room. But can we all agree to aim the arrow towards truth? I will bite your leg off if it's obvious you aren't trying.

Cowboys versus Pack...In particular...Dak versus Aaron, January 16, 2017. Are you ready?

Let' start with the little stuff:
Aaron Rodgers: 2 carries, 16 yards
Dak Prescott: 2 carries, 13 yards

More in a bit...
That gawd awful Packers defense was down 31-7 quickly the next week and got routed.

Try again.

That Dak wasn't making "business decisions"....this one does, which makes him JAG against the better teams.

I'm not actually sure the reason behind the thread.... that's the problem.
Oh and science (well actually statistics in this case) can become obsolete. Whatever comment the OP was trying to make is a mystery, but I guess that was the intention.
-At any point in this thread have I concluded anything about current day Dak or current day Aaron? Indeed, the thread title is "That time when..." Both quarterbacks were on the same field playing under the same rules.

Dak played well, but that's akin to the regular season yards, it's meaningless if the team doesn't win.
Please prove this contention.

You all Dak blind loyalists keep starting threads to prop up your hero and try to convince others not to believe your eyes
1. Am I a Dak loyalist?
2. Am I blind?
3. Is Dak my hero?
4. Am I trying to convince people of things that didn't happen?

Hint: My handle here is T-Ro. What Cowboys player was T-Ro?

Down 21-10. 1:19 left in the half.

The overall stats are nice but they don't paint the whole picture. They don't account for those handful of moments when the difference is made.

Dak played a nice game for a rookie playing against a horrible secondary but he didn't make a difference when he needed to, and the opportunity was there.

The argument always gets reduced to "Dak didn't lose the game".
Well, yea. He didn't play so terribly you can blame him solely for the loss. No argument there from me. BUT... He also didn't win the game with the one or two plays he needed in one of those critical moments.

I can absolutely see cutting him some slack on that, being a rookie. He played a nice game for a rookie, but he gets way to much credit for "going toe to toe" with Rodgers, and he did contribute more to the loss than the rose colored glasses contingent will admit.

The packers still did more with their first nine possessions than the Cowboys. When you’re down by 2 scores in the 4th and usually in a hurry up, that changes the pace and the swing in possession. GB did more in the first 45 minutes of the game which is the bigger reason the Cowboys lost than that extra possession. It unfolded that way because they were outplayed the majority of the game and couldn’t keep a drive alive. That’s not luck of the draw on GBs part.

Seemed to have left off Dak throwing an interception in the redzone in the third quarter and then not being able to convert for a first down on what should have been a game winning drive, instead they kicked a field goal and then lost.

Let's review the big picture of the game:

The Pack built up a big lead...leading 28-10 at the end of the third quarter. Dallas roared all the way back to tie the game with 35 seconds left.

Aaron Rodgers team: 31 points
Dak Prescott's team: 31 points

:35 seconds left.

Here's where "science" and "data" and "truth" must kick in, if we are aiming the arrow at truth. Upon the conclusion of the Cowboy's drive to tie the score each team had enjoyed nine possessions.
Dallas: Nine possessions, 31 points.
Packers: Nine possessions, 31 points.

Rodgers and the Pack won the game during an extra possession the Cowboys didn't enjoy. Same thing happens in numerous games, including historic Chiefs-Bills playoff game 16 months ago. Is what it is. Games don't always ensure a square deal. Sports and life aren't fair, but anyone interested in truth should try to be.
You keep biting that hard at everything you gonna end up in a freezer eventually. All the other fish just watching you dissappear out the water every 2 minutes.

Did I misread the stats or are you incorrect about Dak winning the QBR? If on me, my bad. It seems Dak had a hirer passer rating which is more passing stats-based but Aaron had the hirer QBR which more closely measures performance.
There are different formulas. The standard NFL passer rating for game:

Prescott, 103.8
Rodgers, 96.42

Why? Prescott had higher yards per attempt and TD ratio.

I reported identical details regarding Dak's one interception and Rodger's one interception. That is to say I reported no details at all beyond that each had one.

Are you eager to emphasize one and ignore the other?

Might revisit later in the thread.

Oh FFS, talk about cherry picking a stat. How about the 18 points in the 4th Qtr? give me 18 points from a QB in a 4th Qtr of every game and I’ll give him $60M per year
Good thing you're not a GM!

With an open mind I went to that video section in the game.

-1st down - Dak overthrow

-2nd down - Dak throws what appears to be perfect TD pass to Witten. Only Witten was tackled. Announcer said Witten was held and should have been penalty. [Images Below]

-Timeout by Jason Garrett after heavy dispute re. interference on Witten allowed play clock to get near zero

-3rd down - DB batted pass down.

Here 2 pics from play & 5 from replay:

That, after the no-call was recorded in the fantasy of NFL football as an incompletion. Aikman suggested in his game color commentary that Witten was held on the previous play as well.

The arrow of truth is pure; flies above and beyond the distortion of corrupt NFL and its refs. The defender knew he was toast acted accordingly. That's a likely 15-yard TD pass.

Next briefly: Cowboys second drive of game

Dallas inside GB's 40, 2nd & five.

The "personal foul"? Brice Butler checked into the huddle but then exited the field. Not gonna argue the call, though sure is an unusual one with harsh 15 yards assessed. Don't think I've ever seen that, w/15 yard hit, in any other NFL game ever.

Instead of 1st down on GB 16, it was 2nd and forever at midfield. Dallas ultimately punted.
