The aging, injured veteran I would trade Dez

Well, let's see how the team responds and how they plan to use Dez. The Commanders have the best secondary in the division.
Yeah I want to see what Dez does in a one on one matchup next week. If he owns that high priced FA they got from the panthers then that will be a good sign. In fact he doesn't have to own him as long as he is in the game.

One thing I do want to point is I like Dez, I have his jersey and I wear it every gameday for good luck. Refer to the superstition thread if you want to know my superstitions. Dez, Romo and Witten are my favorite Cowboys. But I'm starting to come to grips that Romo may be done cuz of injury, Witten is slowing down and Dez may not return to form. If we wanted something for anyone the only one that we could get something for is Dez.

I don't get it.

Do we hate Dez now?

I was just getting used to hating Witten and Lee. If I have to hate someone new each week, I will never be one board the right train!

If any aged player to trade it should be Romo. Reality is no one would touch him with that contract considering his injury history....

Dez has struggled against Josh Norman and Bashaud Breeland. He should dominate those guys.

As a former Dez homer, I'd do it. Right now, I'd pull the trigger on it. Dude gets too emotional when the game isn't going our way. Can get shut down easily and then gets mentally rattled.

So, should he look stoic and clap his hands a lot?

Did anyone see the two DBs climbing all over Dez everytime the ball got thrown his way?

What do people expect of him? The Giants game planned to shut him down. They are professionals too! Jeez, they executed a game plan and it worked.

Dez is fine.

Except I have to hate him now.

The Dez Bryant hate on the board is 10X as much as Jason & Tony combined. Again I wonder why.
I don't know what you are implying as well, I got an idea what your implying and it's not cool. But if you read the title of the thread it says, "the agining injured veteran I would trade". Since Tony Romo being traded, released and forced into retirement was talked to death prior to Dak showing that he's human, I felt that topic was covered. So if you're wondering why I am not talking about Witten is because I'm talking about injuries playing a factor in the decision. So how many games has Witten missed in his career compared to how many games Bryant has missed in his career and that's the answer why Jason isn't being discussed in this thread.

I've been a big critic of Dez over the past 2 years. He gets lazy on his routes and he needs to start making those tough catches if he wants to be considered among the best. But the coaches don't know how to use him either. It's frustrating as hell. If I was Dez I'd probably ask for a trade if this continues. But he's definitely no Michael Irvin. I never saw lrvin get shut down the way Dez does.....

Hey, I put a price on every player, it is business after all and the goal of management is to consistantly look for ways to improve the team. I mean, is there no price for which you would be willing to pull a trade?

So give me three #1's and we can talk. And, for those who think there is some "other" reason.....i'll toss Witten in for an extra 2nd rounder.

He should dominate them. Elite Dez would dominate any one on one coverage. He took it to Sherman up in Seattle in Sherman's house. So if he doesn't dominate one on one coverage this week then I am getting really worried about him.

He should be able to get something done this weekend. If not, then I'm more concerned than I am now, but a lot of that has to do with the game plan and Dak. If Dez goes 4-5 more games were he isn't a factor than we got problems. He may have lost a step, or that injury is something that may hold him back. If he's not the same Dez when Romo comes back then we're really in trouble.

No way. Dez gets crap every now and then when he drops a ball. Tony gets hated on whenever he puts on a helmet. Or a backwards hat for that matter.

Nobody hates on Jason Witten because he's too slow to hate on. We're just happy he's still able to move forward at all.

If someone were to come out right now and offer a 2nd rounder for Witten, I'd take that in a heart beat. I'd be sad, just like if we traded Dez I'd be sad but if someone gives a great offer then you got to take it. Again if we go into rebuilding mode after Romo retires, any heavy contracts we can get off the books for older players then you got to pull the trigger.

So same scenario, Romo retires and we're in rebuilding mode, someone comes up and offers a 2nd rounder for Witten, absolutely yes. No brainer.

My question is if some tea,, lets say the Rams were to offer a 1st or 2 first rounders for Dez tomorrow, would you take it or leave it. My answer to that wold be 2 1st rounders yes but if it's one 1st, I'd have to think about it. It'd be tempting.

I appreciate what Witten has done with this franchise but Broaddus pointed out an interesting stat. Witten and Beasley combined for 26 targets! That is way too many targets for guys who are not big play threats.

Dak needs Dez now and Romo will need Dez later. Don't panic over one game.
Ya I do agree that trading Dez would hurt Dak's development. That would factor into the decision. I'll admit you guys are doing a good job of talking me out of this.

Bryant has not been the same since he got paid and injured. He runs 2 routes. Either he doesn't know how to run more routes or the coaching staff doesn't use him correctly and his career is being wasted.

This I agree with this part, his route running ability (or lack thereof) and our inability to get him targets/touches in Garret's scheme is a massive issue. However trading him is completely overboard. The only way you trade him is if someone is offering a massive haul, at least two firsts and an above average pass rusher.

I would trade Dez Bryant. I would love to trade him for a 1st rounder and I would do it for a 2nd rounder, or two 3rd rounders, one this year and one next year. If someone is willing to take on that contract.

Bryant has not been the same since he got paid and injured. He runs 2 routes. Either he doesn't know how to run more routes or the coaching staff doesn't use him correctly and his career is being wasted. Might as well try and get something for him.

Thoughts
I don't want to trade him, but you're right on a lot of points.

Dez is extremely limited by his lack of football IQ.
