Third down conversion, or lack thereof, contributes a great deal to the other teams ability to rack up the rushing yards.

It is, in fact, a primary goal of a ball control offense such as ours. Keep their offense on the bench where they can't hurt you.

It's your position that our inability to convert third downs and maintain possession had "nothing to do with Dak"?
true but as far as blaming dak, he was bad during 2nd and 3rd qtr, but did we run the read option at all??
did they coach dak to take off and run if open lane ?? do they coach dak to throw in 3 seconds like goff?
no they dont lol it is just a poorly coached offense.
Dak was real bad at times tonight, but I would like to see him play for another HC, and see if he is better or not.

instead of extending JG, we should make kris R the new HC and give him 2 years to just see if he can do better .

Troy commented on how when talib was out of the game they should be passing deep to gallup and cooper, but throw to cooper
a lot, and linehan didnt change calls at all when talib was out of the game.

No. The Rams average 33 pts per game. So the Defense held them under that. What we needed was an explosive offense to match the firepower of the Rams.

And we don't have one of those.

Why people don't get that is a little beyond me quite frankly.

The Rams just have a better team. And were coming off a week's rest. So we were always going to need some breaks to beat them. And it just didn't happen.

I'm sorry. That is just the way it is.

We need to improve on offense in the off-season to get more explosive. And by explosive I mean more run plays of 10 yrds or more. And more pass plays of 20 yrds or more.

So we can score more pts. This is the NFL. That is the kind of offense you need to get in the final 4.

Maybe I'm crazy though. If you look at who is making it in, that's who they are.

Rams only scored 33 because they played conservative. Why risk throwing when you can run for 10 yards every play? They probably could have scored 70 points if they wanted/needed to.

But we held a high powered New Orleans offense to 10 total points.... So it was highly possible that we could do the same to the Rams.

1) Biggest Culprit? Hot Boyz without a doubt.
Atrocious, embarrassing performance. Amazing we had any chance at all to tie or win.

2) 4th and 1 dive call that everyone knew was coming. Everyone. Had they run the option play on the last 4th and short, we might still be watching a game.

3) individual standout bad plays from several players

Byron Jones ginormous penalty
Heath on Goff bootleg

It sucks the season ends and we didnt play our best ball in the last game. That's what hurts.
They need to first get rid of that lame *** hot boyz name during the off-season.

Yep, the coach that wasn’t even of legal drinking age when we hired Garrett built a team in a few years that is without doubt better than us, before t I’m sure that will be different if we give Garrett 5-10 more years it’s all about PATIENCE
Just the thought of resigning Garrett makes me physically ill.

Absolutely. I know TO enjoyed it too. Too bad the fans have to suffer. Sighs.
TO probably did a few celebratory push ups in his driveway at midnight last night.

Perhaps a few sit ups too..

I blame the nfl for only allowing one organization to lift a curse yesterday. It’s a conspiracy I tell ya.

got to blame Linehan or Dak

hell their CB's were playing off ten yards

an Dak can't see that

hell how many yards were left on the field

The defense didn't help us, but the fact your QB and OC can't recognize 10 yard cushions the whole freaking game is bizarre. It was the whole freaking game!!! We didn't force their D to do anything. They sold out vs. the run and we played right into it. They were basically giving us the 8 yard plays every play and daring us to throw, and Dak wouldn't/couldn't do it. On one play even Troy mentioned Dak had 4 receivers wide open and managed to throw a lame duck between two receivers. Troy was talking all night about the corners giving us a massive cushion. Linehan is in the booth did he not see that too? And let's not even talk about Dak's awareness, throwing mechanics or footwork. He hasn't hit a timing route all year, can;t hit a receiver in stride, and generally doesn't seem aware of what the defense is giving him. A lot of this is coaching, but a lot of this is on him. He needs to find himself this off-season.

And the stupid 4 and 1 when we put everyone on the line and run up the gut. We do this over and over again through the year, and we are successful a lot of the time. But yesterday our line was getting owned. Why not spread them out and throw a quick slant? Or a TE out? I mean, they weren't even pressing us.

This game was just more of the same given the season as a whole. We came out and looked like JV players and couldn't make any adjustments at half time to overcome our issues. Same problem we have every year and if Garrett and/or Linehan are here next year it will be the same problem again. Since I am pretty sure Garrett is hanging around I just wish we could put in a new offense with some real scheming, but I don't see that happening either. Buckle down Cowboys fans - this won't get any better for a while.

You don't like Dak. We get it dude. Give it a rest... Linehan should have been fired last night.

I actually blame the offense more than the D. Holding them to FGs on those first two possessions was huge. You knew McVay was going to come out with something good that our D wasn’t ready for.

After the TD, I think our O went 5 straight possessions with no points. 3 of those possessions were 4 plays or less. They squandered a chance to get points before the half, then couldn’t do anything with the first possession out of the 2nd half. If the offense doesn’t go missing for two quarters the D probably holds LA in the low 20s and probably handles the run better in the 2nd half. They were completely out of gas by then. You can probably control a Saints or Rams offense in your home stadium, but in their house they will get theirs and you better keep up. I said all year that Dak disappearing in the middle of games like he has all season will get you beat in the playoffs against good teams and that’s what happened.

Too funny and too easy. I am a Cowboys fan, not a player fan. I love whatever gets us to the next championship. Dak is what he is, and I am not really sure how we got here. He was outstanding the first year in the league, and with each successive year has gotten progressively worse. I don't blame the player for that, I blame the coaching staff who can't seem to do much right any more. But when you put together a game plan and the defense gives you 10 yards every pass play and you can't get it done, the blame has to fall on the player once in a while. Dak also missed at least 3 plays for big gains because his mechanics are failing him. I don;t know, maybe we should actually hire a real QB coach??? Anyway, I am sorry if my post came off as an "I hate Dak" post. It wasn't mean that way but the reality is both Linehan and Dak hurt us badly yesterday. Let's hope next year is better...

McVay had his team so much better prepared it was sickening. They ran the ball 48 times. 48! No way Dallas saw that coming. Yet Dallas comes out with the same old stale offense. Predictable play calling, not recognizing opportunities like the DB's playing off, no changes after the half. How do you keep a coaching staff after that kind of performance? To be sure not all the blame goes to the coaching staff. Despite the numbers, Dak was bad, missed open receivers, inaccurate, didn't run when he could/should have. You could see frustration on some of the receivers reactions. Opportunities were there, just couldn't take advantage.

That's why it's more instructive to look at what a team did in the regular season as an average than pointing to any one game.

But I get it. I'm very unhappy with the outcome as well.

Maybe it would have been better to have played NO on the road than to have played the Rams? Maybe we just match up better with them?

idk. I'm not smart enough to say one way or the other.
