Jason Garret was the offensive coordinator in 2007, a year where the Dallas offense was unstoppable. TO had over 1300 yards with 15 TDs, witten had over 1000 yards receiving, and crayon had almost 700 yards receiving as well.

So why did Garrett's system so much more effective in 07 then it is now. Has he changed his principles or where the 07 receivers far better than these cowboy receivers. I see a lot of arguments concerning the offensive scheme but Garrett scheme looked awfully good a few years ago. I'm wondering if TO stretched the field more and got better separation w crisper routes and a younger faster witten was able to expose the defense underneath.

I love Witten, but he's a problem. Obviously a great player, but becoming less effective by the minute. Romo relies on him too much and the offense has become predictable as a result.

He's ruined Romo's career and probably set this franchise back another five years once Romo retires.

I wouldn't say 5 years....but let's be honest. If the Cowboys were to draft Paxton Lynch.....I don't want this staff anywhere near him. Hell...I'm scared as hell they may have planted stupid things in Kellen Moore's head.

Whoa. We got ourselves a Witten hater.

Be prepared to get scratched and clawed.

I wouldn't call myself a Witten hater.....but he is part of the problem as well. Not Doug Free level...but he's gaining ground.

Will Garrett ever win a game again with out Romo at quarterback?

It seems many want to blame Romo's injury for the 7 straight losses, so Garrett's success is solely dependent on a healthy Romo. No Romo no wins!

I think that Dez in a different offense, becomes one of the greatest WRs in history. I think Garrett's offense frustrates him out of the game. Dez has more physical talent than Julio and Hopkins, but will never fulfill his potential under Garrett.

If you watch the All 22 of other offenses you really get to see how pathetic JG's scheme is. Watch Saints offense and you'll see how simple our offense is compare to theirs.

They do so much more misdirection, bunch formations, and just different little things to fool the defense that help their offensive players.

We do some of it but not nearly as much. Funny thing is we did some misdirection type of plays with Lucky and it worked for 2 weeks then we don't see it again. This is typical with JG. If something works, he doesn't do it again for a long time.

While I will agree that Garrett was part of the problem for Wade it was more the fact that Wade lost the team, entirely, that got him fired. The whole team (Except Dez and Witten) basically quit on him entirely the moment Romo went down.

There was tension the whole year, because the offense was stagnant and kept turning the ball over. Wade was pointing this out, about how they needed to run more and control the TOP.

We had 19 TOs on offense by the time Romo went out and even then, Wade's defense got 10 TOs.

Finally, everything imploded when 5 games straight Wade's team kept the losses to less than 6 points on average, never losing by more than a TD.

It was pretty clear Jerry was looking for the move to promote Garrett..

Jerry is learning his lesson now..

He's meant to be a Dallas Cowboy and will retire as one.

Well he is and he will, also with many millions, but odds are no SB ring or even a conf champ ring.
I felt sorry for him after the ints, and then getting hurt again, but then thought , he chose to stay with JG and Jerry, and he does have the money
so no need to feel sorry for him.
He chose the wrong coach and owner to try and get to SB with.
Same for witten.

Literally, the worst coach I have ever seen for the Cowboys for watching them close to three decades... And I'm not lying..

His offense is worse than Dave Schula's was...

I have seen pee wee football games with 8 yr olds running a more sophisticated offense than what we have...........Linehan has to go at the very min.

I don't think it matters who the OC is if we keep running JG's pathetic scheme.

I was hoping Linehan would add more to this pathetic scheme. He did change some and added things that we rarely saw JG do. I'm not sure if that's Linehan not wanting to or JG not allowing him to make the changes.

Teams like the Dolphins give the Garrett homers a leg to stand on but when we face a team like Carolina your coaching matters.

I don't think we'll ever get through a playoff run with the mentality that our guys will just lineup and beat everyone else.

Jerry owes it to us fans to bring in Sean Payton.

It's critical that he makes this hire or we will never see a Super Bowl in the Romo era.

I couldnt have said it better myself, we have some of the best players at their positions just think if we also gave the a schematic advantage. I miss the days of Jimmy when I knew that we had the smartest coach on the sidelines every Sunday. I rarely if ever feel that way with Garrett.

Any major changes are resisted by Garrett. That is why they got Linehan in the first place, as opposed to Callahan who was essentially moving away from Garrett's offense.

Changing Linehan won't matter unless the new OC is given absolute control over the offense.

And Jason is not a good coach, because he is totally resistant to change as is exemplified in the Callahan fiasco.

Jerry already admitted this year that Callahan wanted to run the offense and last year, pretty much said Jason didn't let him and pointed out the different philosophies, Callahan coming from a West-Coast. Jerry compromised and brought in Linehan.

With Jason, you are stuck with his playbook, otherwise he's going to cry and Jerry isn't going to do anything about it. With the playbook gone, he's even more useless than he is now.

ok, I am very tired of keep hearing about Callahan as he was the savior with a halo on his head. if anyone hasn't noticed not one team in the NFL offered him an OC position. they had several years for one team to make that move. and everyonelauds him as this God of OLs yet 30 other teams didn't throw the bank at him to run their OLs. only team was Commanders. is he a good coach? yes. is he a good OL coach? yes. but lets stop with this Callahan this and Callahan that!!!!

LOL. I have to laugh at this because Jerry already took away his play calling duties. Now we need to take away his duties in overseeing his playbook by effectively scrapping it.

Then Garrett can totally focus on his football politicing, platitude speaking, and cheerleading duties and bring that trophy home!
