Lawrence has never been a elite pass rusher so if that's why they paid him then they failed.

But like I asked earlier, who gets paid and gets better as they get older? In theNFL?

Well, the obvious example is Brady of course but then again he was constantly taking less than market value. You can easily point to Aaron Rodgers as well from the QB standpoint.....as well as Mahomes and Wilson too.

Randy Gregory possible extension or to be able to keep him next year?
We have a ton of players with expiring contracts.....the entire 2018 class, Gregory, and nearly every defensive player signed this past offseason was a one year deal.

So either we are going to completely stink this year, or have a huge dilemma as to how to find cap room to keep people.

Now is the time to do it make the room to be able to do that.

Even when it was done with Elliott and the place erupted, it was the right move.

It's extremely interesting that they didn't touch JSmith or DLaw contracts. Telling.

The Lawrence deal will kill them eventually. They better hope when it time the cap is much higher than it is now.

That whole situation was a ‘perfect storm’ of awful. From the timing to the market to the swings and misses at the position in bot the draft and free agency.
And now they pay - big time.

I acknowledged already that Quarterbacks get better. I was asking what non-QB's?

I ask because it something I never thought about but I've seen people make similar comment as you and I don't think its a issue of guys loafing around. I think when you hand out a big contract you have to do it knowing that guys best years are behind him. Unless he's a QB.

So why dont you complain about the rest of them every day like you do with Dak?

Well as I said, I questioned numerous players contracts but you seem to want to focus on Dak. I just showed you an example of me discussing DLaw so forgive me for feeling confused by your statement.

If I could do it now, I would do it. If he explodes this year the way they hope or expect, this team will never be able to afford him after this season.

So you are the Cap expert police? LOL

Just another punk that uses spotrac and thinks that makes him an expert.

Just curious but how is calling a member a 'punk' staying within the rules and how does that help you in any way? The guy was simply using a cap source just like many use to make their case so wherein lies the problem? He is trying to be more informed on his position and somehow that is a bad thing?

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a team do it immediately after signing the contract though
That was my first reaction.

Why wasn't it built into things?

So, I guess his cap figure is down to 17m now? I'm surprised they are able to make that work on only a four year term.....which was the holdup all along.

Yep, and that is why I would not be surprised if they are trying to get his extension done now.

"NFL, NFLPA agree to $208.2M salary cap ceiling for 2022 season"

Lots of us, most of us actually, think Jerry and Stephen are dummies when it comes to the cap, but maybe the restructure money is aimed at the totality of the 2022 season and there's hope for them yet....:p

I think saying people let it ruin their lives is an overstatement.

LOL..............you are the guy that does nothing but go around cutting up his top 10 QB. How is that a good life? Talk about pathetic? Why do you even bother coming on here? This forum is for Cowboys fans.

To hand out an extension "knowing the guy's best years are behind him" is a sad approach to take. If you were buying a new vehicle would you buy the one that used to be a good vehicle but will not perform like it once did or would you be buying the vehicle expecting it to perform well or better than it did?

Think of the scale too: a new/newer car is running between $20k-$40k these days which is a lot for a guy like you or me. By way of comparison NFL players, like Dlaw, went from $1.17M (his year before the franchise tag was applied) to now $25M......that is one hell of an investment for a guy whose "best years are behind him".

Because the trolls on here need something to whine about. Anything positive or even neutral they turn into a negative. They NEVER take a positive for it's value and say, hey, great news / move.
Untrue.

I did both.

It's the right move for the cap, but anytime I can take a swipe at Jerry it's gonna happen.

I'm a passionate fan of the Dallas Cowboys.

I despise Jerry Jones for ruining that experience for his own whim. He knows he has failed, has admitted it, yet still refuses change.

When is the last time I started a Dak thread? Of course people comment on Dak threads because that is what seems to dominate this group recently. That said, I also comment on threads about the o-line, defense, etc. So again, how is it I only focus on Dak?

Only you can answer the question of why you focus on Dak. Someone says something positive about Dak or starts a thread showing how good he is and you are there to insult the QB.

Maybe you should be the one to explain yourself. How does that help you? What is the point of that?

Show me all the other teams handing out Crawford deals. Then we’ll talk.
They actually paid out the fluff years on the back of the deal that the player doesn't typically expect to see.

All while he was either injured or in clear decline.

Jerry really needs to stop being friendly with the players but that's part of it for him. Being a celebrity and being liked.

Its truly maddening. Maybe that part will go away when the kid takes over. We can only hope.
