Cutting McClain would only create 200K of dead cap money.

That has nothing to do with it. We are not talking about savings, but rather the fact he was signed and they are going to ride a bad decision out.

I firmly believe that McClain is still on the team because they are on the hook for his salary. Would not be the first time.

I'm talking about next year.

Terrell McClain will go to training camp, but he will have to earn a spot on the roster.

None of McClain's future base salaries are fully guaranteed.

Jeremy Mincey's base salary ($1M) was fully guaranteed this year upon his signing and $200K of his $1.5M base salary in 2015 is fully guaranteed.

Does anyone want an aging DE who can't get to the QB as a backup in your 4-3 defense?

Anyone?

Mincey's the kind of guy I'd love to have as a backup......for the Washington Commanders. He's a bum. Give me some youth and upside.

If they follow the same asinine blueprint as this past offseason, Jones and Co. sign a cheap no-talent and claim success just like they did with the Mincey signing.

Your probably right.....That probably is the play.

But I wouldn't dog Mincey. You get what you pay for.....And he has been Ok.

I like Jabaal Sheard personally. Think he's a better 4-3 end than 3-4. If JPP came at a price commensurate to his stats this year I would definitely go after him but he has too much upside and high profile for that to happen.

Mincey has actually exceeded my expectations for him. He is trying. Just too fat and too slow to be a real pass rusher.

Same here.

Jabaal Sheard was better in Cleveland playing 4-3 LDE prior to their switch to the 3-4.

He shouldn't cost a lot, either.

Definitely someone I hope the team brings in for a visit.

One free agent I want badly.

I would prefer to get 2-3 quality DL in the draft, one DT and two DE......

Though it will be virtually impossible, given we will be picking last in each round, I want these players in the draft:

CB Marcus Peters Washington
DT Malcom Brown Texas
OT Spencer Drango Baylor
DE/OLB Zach Hodges Harvard
RB Malcolm Brown Texas
DE Cedric Reed Texas
FS Justin Cox Mississippi St.

DE Jerry Hughes
DE Brandan Graham

Nascar package
Hughes-Lawrence-Crawford-Graham

It's one option. I don't think either two will break the bank,

THere really isn't a single player I see on that list that is a sure fire solution to fixing this defense. For those who follow college football, how do the prospects coming out next year look?

Seriously - looking at the FA list and who is going to be available, defense for next year looks pretty glib. If Lawrence doesn't progress, even if we have a fantastic draft, we are a ways away from good, solid defense.

I really like Adrian Clayborn. He might not cost too much, but has produced when he is on the field. Issue with him has been health. I like him though.

When you sign the Texans' backup and it still doesn't work out you are pretty much jinxed.

The college prospects at end are a mixed bag. It is kind of one of those years where some team picks the top rated player and regrets it, but some team who is patient gets the better player. At DT, not impressed compared to last year's group and that is not saying much.

So dumpster fire 2015 when our schedule necessarily gets tougher then? THANK YOU FOR DELIVERING ALL THE GOOD NEWS ALEXANDER.
