if the jones are stupid enough to trade up for a tightend this team is hopeless. i am against trading a first in next years draft for another offensive player when the defense is probably the worst in the league. there is a reason why this team will never reach a championship game again because the jones will again ignore that defense still wins championships.
Let me stop you at stupid enough. Yes they are and yes it is.

This is truly a stupid football team. Sure we can see how things play out, but we already know.

So...Dallas refuses to spend money via free agency on legitimate defensive upgrades (especially along the DL). BUT...will use their 1st pick and premium draft capital (1st, 2nd or 3rd round picks) to get another offensive player.

Cool, cool, cool...R.I.P. Dan Quinn. Yet, after 2021 Dallas fans and the ownership will be wondering what went wrong and how can they address the defense.

Trading up for Pitts scares the hell out of me. First, We’ll be ignoring the defensive woes and likely giving up valuable draft capital to move. That’s two top 100 picks that won’t be used on defense.

I know, I know.. Pitts is considered a generational talent.. But currently our defense is considered laughable. I’m not saying I’m against drafting Pitts.. I’m just saying..if he falls to 10, draft him if that makes folks happy. But the rest of the draft should concentrate on defense.

I won’t be mad if we draft Pitts and I’m sure many will be elated.. but if that happens.. be prepared for another poor defense this year.

I suppose I’m old school. As much as I like offense, I still believe defense wins championships.. exp in January.

Agreed, I wouldn't hate the pick if we filled some more holes in free agency and the rest of the draft. However, would be worried about giving up a 2nd or even more to move up 5 or 6 spots. Cowboys TE position isn't a weakness with holes at every level on the defense. If Surtain or Parsons are there they would be my pick.

All respect my friend, so don’t take my following debate as anything else other than ‘devils advocate’

1) Please don’t misconstrue..No doubt Pitts is a great talent and he’ll show why.. I just don’t think Dallas’s Offense scheme will exploit his talents the way some imagine, exp with the talent already present on offense. That said, as much as I like Surtain.. he might be the best of the CB group, yet still isn’t a generational talent. So I can see your debate for Pitts, but his college competition doesn't exactly strike fear in opponents. Although, Pitts is quoted as saying he hated playing against Jaycee Horn.. if that does something for ya.

2) Almost every draft profile I’ve read says Pitts blocking ability is subpar.. which isn’t surprising for an oversized wide receiver.

3) Bottomline, IMO..the Dallas Cowboys have enough receiving threats on the team. Pitts final stats will only disappoint the masses that envision Kelce-like production.

This team has ignored the Defense entirely to long. After last years worst defense performance.. its past due for Dallas to start investing in the defense. The Offense has plenty of fire power.. it’s time for the defense to atleast be mediocre

Blocking is a relative weakness in Pitt's game but he can block respectably. It would be more than good enough if they tried to cover him with a corner though. I don't think the Cowboys have ignored defense. It's just that the defensive draft picks haven't panned out the way the offensive picks have.

Agreed. People seem to be forgetting that Parsons could be a “generational” talent at LB.. Just go look at his size and his Proday numbers!!

The difference is.. offensive players have always been the sexier pick over defense

I would bet that Parsons would make the biggest difference on the Cowboys than Pitts would from day 1.

Haven't posted for a while, how is everyone? About a month ago I posted Jerry will, hands down, look at Pitts. Most had said Farley, Surtain,Sewell,Parsons,etc...even your talking sports heads did not talk of Pitts to the Cowboys. Not sure how you can't see that? Now,if Pitts gets to 10 this draft gets interesting for us! Somebody will want Pitts bad.Can Jerry pull something off? We need to get back into the back end of the first and have two QUALITY first rounders!(others have said this on here) Can Jerry get it done guys? It all depends on who goes #1-9.

Can’t trade up to 4 - cost too much. Think it’s smoke screen. They want Sewell? Want him drop I think.

According to multiple reports, the Cowboys have fallen in love with Florida tight end Kyle Pitts. Then again, who hasn't at this point in the draft process.

The former Gator is a unicorn prospect who can do a little bit of everything. A solid in-line blocker with the ability to make stellar catches on the perimeter, line him up anywhere and watch Pitts play.
This ain't some middle school crush lol

I don't like it, but if he is there take him. With that said there needs to be a plan in place to trade Gallup to a team with defensive talent. The ravens for example are in need of a WR and have talent on defense I'd be interested in acquiring.

Except that's not really the case if you can't run block or pass block. If you can't defend at all, the weapons can still produce and yield nothing. There is no such thing as "matchup proof" because matchups are not just dependent on talent. A strong game plan can do a whole hell of a lot to close whatever player matchup gap there might be.

True.. If you can’t block you’re screwed.. Heat on the QB overcomes a lot of deficiencies .

Problem is this draft sucks sucks sucks for anything outside of solid semi-starting and good backup defensive talent. I am racking my brain to figure out how they would get an actual impact FS that generates turnovers. Who is the best DT in this draft-Barmore? He isn't an end-all solution. Only plus I see is that LBer is best potential for a game changing starter.

Hence, get on Team Trade Down and get us some semi starters. Sees like a draft where we want to have picks in rounds 2-3.

Would a hall of famer CB shave won us a super bowl during that timeframe? Probably not. And a CB is what we’ll get if we don’t take Pitts at 10.

That kind of thinking will never build a defense. Drafting DeMarcus Ware didn't result in a Super Bowl, either. Well, I guess we shouldn't have drafted him.

The difference is that we already have a top-notch offense. No doubt that Pitts would make it better, but it's doubtful that he'd make it good enough to overcome a pisspoor defense. If we trade away most of our early picks in order to move up to get Pitts, then we continue to neglect the side of the ball that we need to fix the most ... and we've seen that the Joneses are certainly not going to fix it in free agency.

This is why many fans wanted to tank last season when it was obvious the team wasn’t going anywhere with all the injuries. Another loss or two and you can draft a generational player. Now you either don’t get him or have to give up more assets to get him.

Yeah, those 2 or 3 extra wins seem to be coming back to bite us.

I'm thinking this is a smoke screen. With Vander Esch's option not renewed, I wouldn't be surprised if they take parsons.

I liked the short lived rumor of trading Gallup for one of NEs CBs. Then we move up in the draft to get Pitts. The O and D gets better instantly. But just a dream of mine
