Then trade the pick and get more picks. Don't give up other premium picks to go chase a TE in the Top 10.

I mean holy crap. We have to stomach this front office telling us that they will be smart and prudent in FA and won't sign legitimate starters to fill holes, that the draft is where we will find our real talent. And then we have to watch them do little to fix a terrible defense in FA only to then trade away some premium picks they could use on defense to chase after one of Jerry's shiny toys.

Oy.

The Cowboys will be trading around because they are not drafting 10 guys this year. Jerry is short of money this year to buy players but, he has draft chips in this and next year's draft. He's all in on his Moss makeup.

Defensive scheme and not players will improve our defense more than anything.

It's going to be a conservative basic defense but playing bend don't break is going to go a long way for this defense.

I haven't seen us just constantly bust coverage like we did last year. Our players weren't smart enough to run that.

Whatever Marinelli was doing had us playing a solid brand of defense.

If the offense stops sputtering early in games and we get a lead then we will be a better team.
I don't buy into that but I do think that's what they're hoping. The falcons would probably be the first ones to tell us that schemes need good players too.

I'm coming around on going after Pitts. They could see him as the final piece to the offense and necessary to get value out of Dak's huge deal, basically giving him everything he needs to succeed. They would still have 8 more picks to address defense and OL depth. Then there are also some vets still sitting out there who could help improve the defense. I'm wondering if they may have a deal or two in place but are waiting to see how the draft turns out before pulling the trigger on signing them. Feeling confident that there are still veteran options to help the defense may be allowing them to think about a guy like Pitts. I doubt it happens because I think to many other teams are interested. Some team drafting before 10 will likely want him bad enough to not trade back or some team will overpay to move up in front of Dallas for him. Then there is always the possibility this is all a huge smokescreen trying to ensure he goes in the top 9 to push their true target to them.

If hes not there at 10, its trade doiwn time. IMO, I see no player worthy of a 10th pick after sewell,Pitts and others. TO ME, trading down is the way to go.

He won't be there at 10. If Pitts and Surtain Jr is gone by then, I'd trade down.

5 wide will be the only play they need to run. Just let Dak find the open player.

Only Dak will be on his @$$ because no one can block and then we will be down 14-0 in the first quarter every game. We already had the #1 passing offense in the NFL before Dak went down.

I don't know if that's ever been true.

From my latest data, the Cowboys have about 8mil left to pay their rookies and udfa's. They usually keep a few million to get players after the season starts due to injuries. Jerry may not have money but, he has
draft chips to play with. Draft chips are Jerry's bitcoin this year.

Problem is this draft sucks sucks sucks for anything outside of solid semi-starting and good backup defensive talent. I am racking my brain to figure out how they would get an actual impact FS that generates turnovers. Who is the best DT in this draft-Barmore? He isn't an end-all solution. Only plus I see is that LBer is best potential for a game changing starter.

So there is no quality starting or better defensive palyers in this draft? Ill take that bet.

There are none worth taking in the top 10 draft picks this year. None of the CB's are better that those taken in the 1st round last year.

If it's a smoke screen, I guess Dallas is trying to induce a trade up in order to have another player fall.

I feel like most NFL front offices have contingency plans or draft plans that account for this type of stuff. Seems like wasted effort if it's all for show and the team could be costing itself a trade opportunity if the master plan works out and everyone else believes Dallas will take Pitts. Suppose it could create a trade opportunity if there was a team so dead set on having him. Without that piece, everyone else can just sit and wait.
I know that fans think a lot smoke screens occurs this time of the year, but I don’t see it, especially with Dallas. Jerry has always been transparent when it comes to his feelings about a player. There is no doubt in my mind that Jerry is infatuated with Pitts and he would trade up to draft him if the price was not too high. He would certainly take him at ten and I don’t think there is any way that Jerry would pass on Pitts or trade the tenth pick away if Pitts is still on the board.

Jerry just might give his 1st & 3rd this year and his 1st next year to Atlanta to get Pitts. If Atlanta wants players we have a boatload that could go.

Now that would be crazy.

I don't think you can validate 2 1's for anything but a QB or an established NFL Left Tackle.

I think a guy like Surtain is a great CB prospect. Its just that the QB's and WR's and Pitts are getting all the hype in this draft so they are being overlooked. I also think Parsons is a very good prospect. Just what you want at MLB. Guy ran a 4.39 40.

If we have a chance to take the #1 or #2 defender in this draft at 10, its a gift. Im glad all these offensive players are getting overhyped.

Half these QB's will bust, Waddle is 5-10 and 180?

We need nasty, high fb IQ players PERIOD. We are too pretty in the trenches. Been our issue for years. Our linebackers are soft as hell..china dolls...worried about their feelings and standing in social circles..its an illness really. We need to change that culture and the way you do this is having a great draft.

Here is the issue too if we take Pitts....................................Jerry will be scrambling and reaching with picks 2-3 to find defense.
