The Eagles and Giants have yet to walk the Seahawks gauntlet

Not only has Philly not played Seattle yet, they got their cupcake W (Jacksonville) out of the way already AND it was one of their eight home games.

We get the Jags on the "road" (London) later on. So that's another advantage.

And I don't necessarily think it's an advantage to get the Seahawks at home... for the simple reason that if you're chalking that game up as a likely loss for Philly (regardless of location), it'd be better for them to get that out of the way on the road as opposed to losing one of their eight home games.

Of course, that depends on if the Seahawks can actually get the job done in Philly.

It's safe to assume that if you think so, and I think so, then it's got to be happening. Stupid Eagles.

I do hate that they've gotten to 5-1 with their ST (until this week) outscoring their offense. Because you just know at some point that stupid Kelly offense is going to get it together and they're going to be more formidable than the very beatable team they've looked like the last few weeks. Let's just hope that happens after we've played them both times here, coming up.

I think their offense will be exactly like what we see it now. D. Jackson was what made Kelly's offense work last year. He caused a lot of mismatches to happen in the passing game. Without those mismatches to contend with their offense is not as effective. Kelly's offense is good. But its mostly smoke and mirrors. If we contain McCoy and Sproles we can beat them.

I am not in any way diminishing our win last week, but Seattle is not playing at the same level as they did last year. Call it what you will, hangover or anything, else but they are certainly beatable this year, especially on the road. They have some more losses coming their way.

Dallas did it. Beat the defending champion Seahawks. Got it out of the way and can move on.

The Eagles and Giants? Not yet.

Despite their loss to Dallas, the Seahawks still remain a very formidable team indeed, and should be favored against both PHI and NYG. This will be critical later on in the season when tiebreakers loom large. If Dallas is 1-0 against Seattle and the Eagles and Giants are both 0-1 against Seattle, that would make a big difference in common-opponents tiebreaking.

Not to mention, of course, that losing to Seattle would knock the Eagles and Giants down a peg in the win-loss standings.

Seahawks SHOULD still be formidable but after that beating they took on Sunday, I just hope we did not crush their spirit along with their behinds. :D

It's a little weird, but if it comes down to common opponents, our win against the Saints hurts us.

To get to common opponents, we would have to have the same overall record as the Eagles, to have split our head-to-head games, and have equal records in the division.
The only non-common opponents we will have are the NFC South and NFC North games. That's the Saints and Bears for us and the Panthers and Packers for them.
The only way to win the common opponent tiebreaker is to have a worse record against non-common opponents. We're already 1-0 against non-common opponents (the Eagles are 0-0).
If we beat the Bears, we cannot win the common opponent tiebreaker against the Eagles no matter what.

Of course, I'd rather beat everybody and not have to deal with tiebreakers at all.

Eagles get them on the road? Man. How does that always seem to happen with that stupid team. Doesn't it always seem like they're getting breaks? Either scheduling or with the in-game penalties. I hate them.

I guess we can't really complain, though, since we get the Thursday Thanksgiving game every year.

They get to go to GB though and we don't have to play them.

By now, I'm pretty confident both the Giants and the Eagles are faced with the stark realization that what the Dallas Cowboys did to the Seahawks just might be a pretty hard act to follow. -- LOL, gotta love it. Yayess.

The Thanksgiving game "advantage" has basically been erased with the advent of Thursday Night football. It used to be somewhat of an advantage because we always knew we'd be at home and, besides the Lions, we were the only team that actually knew they were going to play a Thursday game every year and we got to stay home for it. When every game counts many teams saw it as an advantage to the Cowboys (and Lions) because the game was always a home game.

Now every team plays a Thursday Night game. Very few have actually been competitive. 16 teams a year get now get the advantage that the Cowboys have been "gifted" every year. I always found it funny that other teams would complain about the Cowboys having that Thanksgiving day advantage. Pete Rozelle shopped that game to every team in the league. No one would take it. The Cowboys stepped up and said they would host the game but if they took it they get it every year. Signed, sealed, delivered. The whinefest ensued.

I'm not worried about the Saints but it is nice to have the tie breaker over the Seahawks but sucks about the 49'ers. 49'ers have the tiebreaker over us but if all goes to plan we have the potential to have a better record than them. We have an easier schedule of opponents.

The good thing about the 9ers is that they still have to run the gauntlet of their own division. That division (sans St.louis) is BRUTAL. The Hawks, Cards, and 9ers are going to beat the living **** out of each other (both physically and record-wise) before any of them even qualify for the playoffs. I think we end up with a better record than all of them due to that fact alone.

Completely agree with you. I think we have the best shot at ending up with the best record in the NFC if we don't take any steps backward.

I refuse to believe that NY will be a factor in the end. It looks like the cowboys will playing the eagles for the division again.

Me too, dude. we just have to avoid tripping over ourselves because, honestly, I think the only team in the NFL that can stop the Cowboys, right now, is the Cowboys. We will and it will be a game we should have won. Hell, even the 92 Cowboys lost to a completely inferior L.A. Rams team. They just need to stay focused and make sure they're firing on all cylinders when January rolls around.
