The Fan just said Brandon Moore re-retired

Great.. Hopefully Waters is still interested.

Can't believe Moore wants to call it quits at 33. What is he thinking? He's got the rest of the life to be retired he should be collecting as many paychecks as he can.

May not feel it's worth it anymore with the physical toll this takes on your body. Especially on o-lineman. Seems many people are retiring at an earlier age in the NFL.

It doesn't matter if they do or do not have confidence in Bern/Arkin or whomever is on the roster for the RG spot.

The roster is what it is and if no one better is available then they use who they already have on the roster.

I'm not sold on bringing in Waters... 36yo... out of football for well over a year now... It's not a "gimmee".

I doubt any of us are sold on Waters, but at least the dude is a multiple pro-bowler, and he most recently played for the Pats in its last SB season as a pro-bowler...

Get him in here and let him compete - he can't be any worse than our other options at RG...

He may not be any worse, but to commit to him financially, which will have an impact on next years cap... that's not a good thing UNLESS you're absolutely sure he's head & shoulders above what is here.

I wish things would have worked out with Moore but have to say I have heard coaches say when a guy starts talking retirement he is already retired. His heart is not going to be in it. I still think Dallas will bring in an OL player be it someone on the FA list or a player who is released late in camp.

not surprising that you could not figure out that moore was indeed head and shoulders above anyone we have right now.

o f course you do

the #1 pollyanna on the O line as it was of course you do not want anyone else.

Huh?

Just throwing retired, old and unmotivated players at the offensive line isn't a cure-all.

Maybe Larry Allen will unretire. o_O

you will have an excuse no matter what is done. You just want to do NOTHING.

I think one thing that is being overlooked. While Moore may not sign with the Cowboys, the Cowboys are clearly insterested in adding to the OL.

We could get him in here for $1.5M, and he'd at least provide stability.

Dude's started 165 games, and he's a 6X pro-bowler who's only given up something like 28 sacks in his career..

No doubt in my mind he'd instantly become the best option at RG, assuming he passes conditioning...

Not true.

I want to do something that means positive change... not waste time/resources on guys that aren't motivated to compete.

He's most likely thinking, "I've been playing this game a long time. I've had a great career. My body is beat up. I don't need any more paychecks. I can do pretty much whatever I want at this point. And I just don't know if I want to put myself through the punishment of NFL football anymore." We've never played, so it's hard for us to have that perspective. And if his heart isn't in it anymore, better he stays away.

Despite all the positives, like the money, the fame, playing a game at the highest level, it's still a very difficult and demanding job, full of sacrifice. You get hurt. You go long periods of time without seeing or being with your family. You miss a ton of things you'd like to do or see. He's in a position to do something else, and he wants to do it. Who's to say he should do otherwise? It's easy to say he has the rest of his life to do those things, but nobody knows how much life he has left, and he wants the quality of that life to be as high as it can be. Crazy as it sounds, that may not be playing football and making more money.

Is there anyone out there that we could make a trade for?

I guess at this point we're just better off waiting to see if a Vet gets cut.

After hearing all the scouting reports on this guy, is anyone really THAT upset about this. It's not like we just lost out on Carl Nicks guys.

I have thought Moore was done since last season. Many here are sold on him from what he used to be and that he played for Callahan. I think he would have stayed healthy which would be an improvement from the current guards, but his on field blocking wouldn't have been much better.
