Crazy turn of events: After signing a deal with #Cowboys and scheduling a flight to join the team, G Brandon Moore instead decided to retire
Brandon Moore has a young family and couldn't bring himself to leave them for 5 months, per agent Deryk Gilmore. Cowboys still searching

Hearing Brandon Moore on Sirius just now did nothing to help make you feel better. Sounds like a class dude that didn't want to show up...
And not play at a high level because it is August 7. Had this move been in March/April, he said it would be different. Too late to prepare.
Moore played 11 seasons from his house with his family. Leaving them for 5 months wasn't worth the trouble he decided.

Ugh I was excited about our offense for almost a full day

can't Jerry just move his entire family with him. JJ does have a guest house.

Brandon Moore, who had played his entire career for the Jets, has decided to retire rather than join the Cowboys for this season.

Moore could not bring himself to get on a plane and leave his family and informed the Cowboys of his decision Wednesday morning.

In deciding to retire, Moore passed up $2 million in 2013. He was to receive a $500,000 signing bonus, a base salary of $1.25 million, which was fully guaranteed, and a $250,000 play time bonus in his one-year contract.

Moore, 33, played for offensive coordinator Bill Callahan for four years with the New York Jets. He spent his first 11 seasons with the Jets, starting 142 of 144 games in his career and every game since 2005.

I wonder if a two-year deal would change is tune...

Bah, I'm just clinging to hope at this point.

Just think about it for two seconds: dude is 3 years older than Moore, is considered a step down from Moore, and was apparently the Cowboys' second option.

Since Moore was going to come in for 2M, I'd bet $100 we could snag Waters for 1.5 pretty easily.

Brian Waters walked away from almost double that paycheck last year with the Patriots because he didn't think it was worth it. That's the deal with signing old vets. A lot of them have already made their money and aren't desperate for a paycheck. They're also staring at their longterm health and quality of life after football. The same reasons why John Abraham and Richard Seymore aren't currently in a training camp playing for a 1 year deal.

what is really bad about this was how good it made you feel when the news of signing him first came out. Double downer

The roller coaster of emotions in being a Dallas Cowboys fan! From highs to lows!

Oh well, time to move on. Guy doesn't want to play, so guess they saved themselves a few bucks and maybe some large disappointment.

Amazing, when the OL finally looks like its a RG from being pretty solid, some here are still wanting to go with Arkin. There is a reason why they are trying to unretire some of these old folks, that's because Arkin is no good and Berny is damaged goods. You can't continue to use up a roster spot on a guy who has no chance of playing in a real game. Berny is a good backup, at best.

I hope they continue looking, maybe bring in Hangartner in, he's the one who had Berny sitting on the bench in Carolina. But they can not put the whole season on Arkin or Berny. It's like the 3rd stringer fighting a JV 2nd stringer for the starting job on the varsity.

Wasn't the deciding factor on playing this yearso those numbers don't matter.

What a flake. is there a vet guard out there who is almost broke and needs the money? ;)

Abraham's a Cardinal.

Bleh. This just sucks. Moore signing just made sense. There's not another option out there that excites me in the least.

Man, I feel like a fool.

I wasted two hours last night (when I should have been doing some work) watching Moore highlight videos and reading about him. And I sent a bunch of texts to my brother and two friends who are also big Cowboys fans, telling them how awesome this was and how it solidified our offensive line and bla bla bla.
