I think it’s severely overblown how much a hand they have on that. At least with players who aren’t high priced/popular.

I used to think the same way ...... but Jerry and Stephen has made it painfully obvious the last few years ....... they have grown so rich and satisfied that they don't even try to hide it anymore.

We will just agree to disagree on that lunacy lol.

Gregory was basically suspended the first 4 years. Then in his final season he was starter worthy. If you dont think that is considered a bust to the drafting team, then that is up to you. In my book, that is a total bust of a pick. Not to mention he is already hurt again for his new team.

Busts don’t get 70 million……

Apparently they do.

You would have to actually play a full season not to be a bust. He's hurt even now. Looks like that 70 million contract was a complete bust.

Gregory has busted twice.

Zeke got 90 million. Another busted signing.

7 years with the team, 15 career starts and 16 sacks in return, I would also say he was a 2nd round bust. He definitely showed promise at times and landed a large contract so get why some may feel differently. But here he is missing time with the Broncos again and has proven to be an unreliable player. He's certainly not among the top busts in Cowboys history, but he's been a huge dissapointment in staying on the field.

2015 to 2021 with the Cowboys, 2 of them spent completely suspended. Maybe it would be a different story if he wasn't suspended, but even when available he seemed to have injuries that would pop up.

There was a series during the Chicago game in the first half where the team deployed 3-4 TEs and played hurry up. Total chefs kiss of a drive.

His 2nd contract has been a complete bust. Try a little harder when you read.

But overall the entire pick and career here of Zeke has been a disaster. Whatever good built up on his first contract was destroyed on the 2nd one. And who knows how far this nightmare is going to go with Jerry at the helm.

You don’t know what you are arguing…we are talking about draft picks how you get on 2nd contract?

I know exactly what I am arguing. You just cant read very well apparently.

You are arguing about something I never said.

How about this question.......................If a first round pick doesnt get a 2nd contract does that make him a bust?

Yeah it does……the question you just asked is irrelevant.

Say what you want. You could argue they didn't land Cade Otton, or whatever. But I think they still played it nicely. After the draft, I watched lots of film on our players, and I suspected shortly after we drafted Ferguson, then landed Hendershot, that we would be a really good 12 personnel team, as well as 13 personnel in 2023.

I know the stats aren't all that pretty. But these guys are helping our team win games. It's the little things they can all do, including the fact they can be a threat in the passing game, that makes them valuable. I've always thought that TEs make great special teams guys, and playing special teams can teach them things like blocking, so it's a win win.

In any case, what I would like to see Dallas do throughout the remainder of the season is get their TEs more involved in the passing game, as well as blocking game. That should be part of their game-time agenda moving forward during practice is to scheme around their TEs. If they do that, they'll be a tougher team for it in the post season.

I think this holds true for the remainder of the team, not just the TEs. If you know where your weaknesses are, then you should make it a point to work on those weaknesses during the games when it makes sense to work on those areas. Doing that, also makes you less predictable.

You can actually scheme around how to NOT be predictable. And still run some high-percentage plays on which you could convert on as much as the obvious ones. It's really about thinking ahead.

In the past, our coaches and staff haven't done much of that. But this year, you can see they've done some behind the scenes work to get better at it, and them being willing to listen to others has paid off.

Our TE group is why I think we have a good shot moving forward. None all too flashy, but they are all solid weapons. And we have four of them.
Again you are right. McCay and company nailed the TE position. I was upset when Schultz didn't sign a cap reducing long term deal after he was franchised. But now we can move on from Schultz with rookie contracts and not lose production. That's an 8-10 million salary cap savings. I like Schultz but not enough to resign him when Ferg and Hendershot can get it done for less money. That money can go to Diggs and Parsons.
