See, this is what I am talking about. I never said Romo wasn't an asset to the roster. Its like you are arguing with some other guy.
I sincerely doubt that you do not understand the definition of asset.

Your stance is that Prescott is the permanent future now, correct or incorrect?

Prescott has given every Cowboy fan something to hope for. Thats important. For years there has been nothing real behind Tony...Tony is at or near the end and there can be very little doubt about that... so if nothing else Prescott offers the hope that has been missing for so long. IF he really works out and Club can concentrate on the defense. Then watch out.

I love having Dak emerge as the future at QB for the Dallas Cowboys - and the future for Prescott appears to full of promise for great things to come from him. But the people who actually run the day-to-day operations of our favorite NFL franchise make decisions based on the 'NOW.' As Romo is currently injured Dak, barring injury, will start for at least the next several weeks. However, once Tony Romo is healthy and cleared for play those same decision-makers will have to come to some plurality of opinion on which QB gives the team the best chance to succeed going forward in that future 'NOW'. The smart money says number four will go to the bench until either Romo is injured again - or until it becomes apparent that number nine is no longer their best option on game day.

That the transition WILL take place is nearly certain. But on what schedule is anybody's guess.

Yes the Romo has 5 years left is sarcasm

And as far as Dak being better than Romo was after 4 years , he doesn't make the bone-headed throws the Romo made for what six, seven years? Scans the field like a veteran, knows where is check downs are avoids pressure like it's nothing .

Has had three touchdown passes dropped or interfered with as was the case of Beasley yesterday otherwise he'd be near the top of the league in quarterback rating in his first two starts!
As far as leading the team to the playoffs yeah we had the Giants beat who are the class of the division so I guess we get 4 more division wins and then win three or four other games. Then we take the division, I don't think that's unrealistic giving the kids learning curve.
Or you can bring Romo back and just peel him the ground again before two games go by, it's a shame really.. this should be Dak s team and we don't need to waste any more time

Something to consider.
Whether Tony Comes back and is named starter or he comes back and they Keep Dak as starter.

Just the idea that there is the realistic option that Dak could remain as starter due to how he is playing and if he continues to improve....is a boon to us as Cowboys fans.

In the last few year when Romo went down, there as never really a feeling that the backups in place would keep the job if Romo came back healthy. We knew that chances were that he would come back even before he was ready because the team was going to be such a wreck without him that not only would he argue to get back on the field but the team FO and Coaching staff would let him back even though they knew he should sit.

Now of course it opens up an annoying argument among fans where some fans will take a die hard stance for one player or the other and in doing so would rather be right no matter what and start posting with an agenda already in place and not willing to listen to the other side. So is the way of sports message boards.

However the win here is that we finally have someone on this roster that we can make a decent argument has the chance (large or small) of actually keeping the starting job and even if he does not, has a good chance of being the next starter down the road.

Of course it is still early and things could go south with Dak but as of right now he gives us that hope...and as cowboys fans of this team who have had little to hope for over the last few years...we will sometimes take what we can get and cling to it.

I agree with you.

I'm not 'handing' anything back to Romo. And it saddens when a foolish, old owner says otherwise.

I honestly thought I posted something everybody would love. LOL

You been around long enough to know that someone is always going to complain about something. But I was not really talking about your OP or the Thread topic...more of how it went in a different direction to the normal we most argue for the sake or argument mode it has taken.

Dak is being spoon-fed the offense right now. I'd say he's got about 25 percent of the playbook at his disposal. Teams are selling out on the run, and making Prescott beat them. He's doing a fine job, but Romo would have run up 40+ in both games against such fronts. The offense is painfully basic right now, as it should be. (And this isn't exactly a flamboyant offense here.)

If Cousins played average, the Commanders win yesterday by 20 points. They should have had 45 points.

Next week, I expect Dak will have some more wrinkles, then some more against San Francisco. But Cincinnati, Green Bay, and Pittsburgh are looming thereafter. That will require an elite veteran QB to have any chance.

Oh, I know. That's how I took it.

But I'm a bit surprised by the response. Unfortunately, that tells me that our dumb fanbase is going to ignite a HUGE quarterback controversy when Romo returns. Even more unfortunately, I think it's going to fall on some not-so-pleasant political lines.

Honestly if you still think Tony is an elite veteran QB I don't know what to tell you other than there are programs out there were you can get help

It really is a shame it got sidetracked immediately.

And that's what torqued me. When you take the time to put something down reasonably throughtful, then somebody just reads the headline only and responds with junk immediately, it hacks me off.

Thankfully, the magic of "ignore" has filtered me on that tired front.

Yes. That is the way it will go. I really can not see Tony lasting for very long. Never know.
