Yeah, you're just not that smart are you?
We stick with Romo when he's healthy because he gives us the best chance to win the division this year. Dak has played well and I'm thrilled with him, but Romo is the starter right now. End of story.

This is your 'plan' and then you have the nerve, or lack of awareness to question someone else being "smart"?

:lmao:

I really do realize how lucky we are.
I can't believe our good fortune, actually.
The long term benefits should be enormous.

Where we disagree is that you think Dak needs to be the full time guy immediately...just boot that scrub Romo to the curb. Dak is fully ready to roll!
That is where we disagree.

No, you are misunderstanding.

The best thing for this franchise would be IF.............Dak was soooo good, that we COULDNT remove him from the lineup and we never HAD to look back.

Im not saying that Dak is there at this point. But...............for MY money, if Dak continues to play well and improves to the point where we are 4-2 when Romo is ready.............ME PERSONALLY, I would keep him in there.

ME PERSONALLY, I could care less about a few more wins. I would rather see Dak continue to grow. The Romo era is toast in my opinion. We arent winning a SB with Romo. Defense isnt good enough.

Now I understand there are fans out there that think we can go to the SB every year or are living in 2014 on a pipe dream. For me, its all about winning SB's, not making the playoffs. I would gladly sacrifice a little of the present to speed up the future.

Again, you're just not very smart. How much do you want to bet that when Romo is healed that he won't be the starter? How much?

When Romo is healthy they will bench Dak, get over it. Enjoy the best offense we´ve had in years, with a bright future in Prescott.

I have no choice. Management will put Romo back in there. In the mean time I can glow over DAk and our future while you hang onto to 2014 and get disappointed when Romo goes down again.

If Romo is the better player than putting him back in is not politics. It's just acknowledging reality. You play the guy who gives you the best chance to win, to suggest that it's politics makes it sound like Romo would be playing for some other reason.

If Dak is doing his part for the team to win, and is then relegated to the bench, what else would you call it? Not 'football smart' or 'long-term thinking', that's for sure.

Would you say that Prescott hasn't held up his end to put this team in position to be 2-0?

I am as hopeful on Dak as everybody else but I still think a wait and see approach is called for. I can name several rookie QBs that started looking like the real deal and faded to oblivion. Vince Young, Ryan Leaf, Josh Freeman, Sanchez, the list is endless. So lets see this play out more than a few games before we anoint.
I want to see Dak with everyone back on Defense. I want to see him with an improved run game. I want to see him go deep more. BUT I think we "may" be better with Romo but who knows how this team will be when Romo is cleared. If we have won 3-4 in a row then you ride the hot hand.

Why will we be disappointed if we have Dak Prescott?!

Thats what you don´t understand!! Romo is the better quarterback, we don´t need to worry every time he gets hit because we know we have Prescott behind him, plus Prescott will have time to watch and learn. Look at Garapolo from New England, look at Rodgers in Green Bay, look how many years it took Cam Newton to be good.

So if the Cowboys are 5-2...do you bench Dak? That is what I mean by politics...which rule in a entertainment conglomerate like the Dallas Cowboys...but in Seattle....in New England...in places that are REAL football organizations...they would roll with whomever got you to 5-2. Benching someone who is 5-2 would not be good for the lockeroom.....but wins and losses have not been the determining factor in Dallas in a long time. That is what I mean by politics.

It is laughable to read threads with people just realizing that Witten is not the guy he used to be...that has been the case for a while now...but people who just listen to the owner and coach speak....think Witten is just getting off to a rough start. And while I am at...Romo...who has carried this entire organization on his back for years...is not the guy he used to be.

I am a big Romo fan...and want him to win the Super Bowl. I also don't think this team will be 5-2. But if Dak plays like this...and we are 5-2 in spite of this horrific defense...what FOOTBALL reason would we have for benching him?

This organization STUMBLED into Dak. If Kellen Moore had not broken his leg...we would not even know what we had in Dak. Dak is messing up the "process". So we are playing Dak because we had nowhere else to turn. So my hope is that someone in this organization RECOGNIZES a football player when they see one....and does what is best for the FOOTBALL team long term.

We all know romo is coming back. For how long though? And it seems everyone is trying to rough him up. The pre-season game shot was ridiculous. Either way we have a great one in romo and dak so I'm happy.

Yes,because in game 1, Dak did not drop the passes thrown to him !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's not the point, you're apparently assuming that if they make that move, it's the right one. I'm not.

I want off the roller coaster of relying on a player whose repeated health issues make him unreliable. And I want to keep going with the momentum of a player who has done his part to have this team 2-0.

I would say that Romo is considerably better than Dak. Head and shoulders above him as an NFL quarterback. So when Romo is healthy, he starts. Dak has the tools, he's got the potential, but when Romo is healthy he's just vastly superior to anything you'll get from Dak right now. And that will be best for Dak because he'll be able to take his experience and go back to the sidelines to continue to learn and develop.

It's always interesting how hard an opinion beats itself against a brick wall of realism.

Pretty good OP, erod.

Yep.......its like they dont care how good Dak plays or whatever. They are all just sitting there waiting for the injury prone and brittle Romo to come back so they can renew their laughable hopes at winning a SB this year.

I remember after the 49ers game two years ago everyone doing the same thing.

Romo's done blah blah blah.

I've learned not to count him out. I say he's earned another shot on the field. But that's just me.

And I can respect your difference of opinion.

My own is that - through no fault of his own as a player or worker- his health issues have caused him to have used up that same equity with me.

For what it's worth, all indications are that the team shares your opinion.
