Cowherd proves once again how little he knows about football, and the Dallas Cowboys.

First, does anyone believe Cooper Rush could be the franchise QB for Dallas over a 17 game schedule?

And did Trey Lance suddenly become a super star just because he joined the Dallas Cowboys? Have we already forgotten he couldn't beat out Brock Purdy, Mr. Irrelevant, and Sam Darnold? It is a pipe dream to think Lance will turn out to be a franchise starter and I don't care where he was drafted. A lot of first round QBs have failed miserably in the NFL. I am not saying Dak is a great QB, but we already know Rush is nowhere near as good as Dak and Trey Lance got here like 5 minutes ago.

No one hopes Lance becomes a viable alternative to Dak than me by the time Dak's contract expires. But let's keep things in perspective. There is nothing about Lance that indicates he is the next franchise QB for Dallas at this point. Cowherd is a joke for even suggesting it.

People in here still haven’t realized Dak isn’t going anywhere. Same lot told us last year was Daks last year here. These people have no clue. The club has zero room to wiggle. They’re forced to extend his contract.
Probably, but not necessarily. They could eat Dak's contact just fine as long as they aren't paying the next starter a bunch of money.

That requires Lance establishes himself, which I don't know how that is possible.

But if Dak craps the bed again, they aren't champing at the bit to continue the futility either.

This season will ultimately define Dak one way or the other. And he knows it.

We'll see. It would be awesome if he does, but I don't have confidence he ever will

Ponder this, Sam Donald is still relevant after all these bad seasons. Lance definitely has a shot to become better and perhaps elite.

I don't disagree. There is always the possibility that Lance develops into a good QB and it was worth the 4th round draft pick to find out. But that is no guarantee, and all the evidence so far indicates it is more of a long shot than an certainty.

You have no idea who owns this team then. You try to speak logically but this is the business end of things. Jones’ ain’t doing it and they’ve said as much multiple times in the past.

I would agree with you entirely, but there is something lurking here. There's angst in the background among the Joneses if this rinse-and-repeat continues.

They've given him as perfect of a roster and chance as you'll find in the NFL today, and he's been both the weakest and most expensive link in the chain. He has zero excuses this year, and that includes staying healthy, which is becoming more and more problematic for him. He's in his 30s now, so that isn't going to get better suddenly.

How long do they keep doing this if it doesn't take a big step forward this year?

Listened to this live, and respect his views as he seems to be genuine and coming from a nonbias POV. Farrrr too many blowhard so called on air personalities have let their bias run there hard to watch shows, and Cowherd and the guys on his show seem to be a breath of fresh air. I find myself clicking between the usual annoying shows between 9-11am and cannot settle on one. I get a migraine just listening to them, and want to vomit every time Greenberg talks his AR lovefest

I too believe we need to move on from Dak, however, Rush is by no means the answer. Lance may be if he develops within the org, but Rush has shown us all that he is capable of (he’s barely as good as Dak, only reason he’s on the roster is because he is willing to be paid way less than Mr. I can’t get us to a championship but need to be paid mega millions”.

We need to look into developing Lance or drafting a QB (meaning we need to start scouting this college QBs).

There's not an Eagles fan in the world who won't want to see the Cowboys dump Dak for Lance.

Even the most fervent Dak haters will admit that there is a chance he could have a great year. The offense looks set and the defense should be top 10 easily. A playoff run is likely. Say Dak throws for 35/15, 4000+, YPA ~ 8, hand full of rushing touchdowns…that gets him some MVP votes. I think the probability of that is better than 50/50. Then what? Do you sign him to an extension?

The thought that Rush could compete for a starting job is about the dumbest thing I have heard. Rush sucks. Period. He had one good game last year and got worse every week after that. The guy has zero chance of being a starter. ZERO. So can we all just stop thinking Dak doesn’t get an extension and it’s ok because they have Cooper Friggin Rush.

Lance is an entirely different story but he needs work and that may take some time.

We are all in on Dak. Win or lose the 40 million dollar princess is gonna see this thing through to the end. He can either be a hero for all time like Roger and Troy or he can be a turd. We shall see.

He is going to do what he always does when pressure mounts, fold like a cheap suit.

Dak will be obscenely wealthy and happy—wherever he ends up. Perpetually miserable complainers will always meow. Fans will still be fans. What actually changes?

35 TDs and 15 Interceptions wouldn't warrant any MVP votes given the modern day QB friendly rules.
Prescott will likely put up good stats because the Cowboys are loaded and he feasts on jazzing up his numbers against weak opposition. Cousins would do the same if he was QB here but like Prescott, he's a serial loser as well.

What really matters is how he performs in the play offs against solid teams like the 49ers not one of the worst teams to ever make the play offs (Tampa Bay last season).

As a sport talk show host, what comment can you almost always universally state which will come true at the end of the season? SAS lives on this statement.

The Dallas Cowboys will fail again this year. But that applies to perhaps 30 teams in the league.

It's not a prediction. It's playing the odds. And if you make that comment about all thirty two teams, your record will be 31-1.

Give me one thousand dollars, and those odds in Vegas and I'll retire.
