All that means is that Gaither didn't have a Flozell Adams or Marc Colombo in front of him on the depth chart. Gaither had an "on-his-last-legs" Jonathan Ogden in front of him.

:laugh2:

Your sig threw me off. I knew I hadnt commented in this thread in awhile.

Atogwe and Gaither ftw!!

Did Gaither not step up to the plate and perform though?

Give him props for being a beast and dominating that left side.

He's given up less sacks than Flo in the last 2 years.

Please try to rebuttle that last point. Please. Oh wait...you can't.

Bye.

sure fire away Hos.
There are 32 teams in the NFL. 31 besides the Ravens.

Why are none of those 31 teams (not just Dallas and Jerry Jones) racing to make a deal for this guy if he is so damned great?

That sure seems like a loaded question.

I can answer this.

Maybe those teams have the same worries as you.

"oh well he's not getting offers. Dallas isn't looking at them and they need a LT..something must be wrong"

Hence, that causes ripple affects to all teams.

Thats a good question Hos.
Now, are ANY RFA's getting interest yet? I think its more of a waiting game with those guys. It always has been. In that regard you can maybe go to the other team and negotiate a lower compensation package for the player. RFA's typically leave for less than the tender requires.

I mean for example Atogwe has NO compensation, but nobody's in for him, and he's a great S. I think its just part of the RFA gameplay.

Then why should we rush and grab him?

I just don't understand the frenzy over an okay player.

I can dig it Hos. Who would you like to see us interested in or do you just want us to solve our problems with the draft?

Or maybe they think they have someone as good on their team already. Maybe they think they can get someone who will be as good in the draft. Maybe they don't like the idea of possibly over paying for an OT that has work ethic issues and afraid he would only get worse in that area if he got a big pay day.

Again I think the guy is talented...but just because dallas, or any other team for that matter, don't run out and trade picks and sign him to a big contract...it does not mean they are dumb for passing on him.

I think Jerry isn't making a move because he wants to keep his draft picks just to see how the draft unfolds. Maybe a player they like and have rated higher than Gaither tumbles, but because they already gave up that first to Gaither they might kick themselves.

If there's nothing but trash left over at 27 and we can't find a trading partner to move down then Gaither will be a Dallas Cowboy. Book it.

Hos

I am not advocating rushing in and getting him. I came into this thread simply to admonish those that think he's a bad player. If he were on our team now he'd be the best OT we have.

You think he;s just ok. I think he's a lot better than that, and certainly better than Doug Free(who i really like btw).

People here are way overvaluing one of our own(whats new). He had a good run of games ar RT and showed me he can play there. Whether or not he can do the same at LT remains to be seen.
Flo and Colombo are coming to the ends of their careers imo and we need more thasn Free, McQuistan and Brewster going forward.

I think it is exactly the opposite amigo. I think this is a case of the grass is greener on the other side of the fence.

I think there is too much value in this Draft to sell off the draft picks.

I believe we will either start Flozell (and be fine) or start Free (and be fine) over trying to grab someone else's castoff and make him a starter. If he was a UFA, maybe it is different.

I don't dislike the guy, but people are absolutely going nuts over a player who I just don't see as all that great. He is certainly not an upper echelon OT or you would absolutely see 31 teams moving fast since Baltimore seems willing to let him go.

I just think too many people are losing their minds because we haven't made a move yet.

Who? McQuiston?

You put Free at RT and Gaither at LT. Columbo will be done after this year.

You wont have to worry about your bookends for the next 6-7 years.

Or you can put Free at LT and draft a RT later in the draft.

Or you can draft a LT and put Free on the other side.

for me it comes to this: Can Gaither be about as good as the Hotel has been? If the boys staff think so then they should try and make the trade.

Oh and regards castoffs- wasn't Novacek a Cardinal castoff? It has happened many times where a player one team decides to let go
becomes a top player for another team.

then we'll politely agree to disagree. Hell thats what this board is all about.

But there is only value in the draft if they turn out good. My point is i'd rather have the known commodity.

so you'd rather take your chances with an unknown quantity than one who has a proven LT track record?
