Woodson on Witten should of been an advantage for Dallas in the run game, but of coase it is impossible to exploit it when you dont run the ball.

why.. why so many . why does it seem like some games his play calling is reverse of what common sense would tell most men to do.

Ah, and it seems like only last week that we had a thread asking why we never ever throw screens.

Preaching to the choir, brother. I know I've posted this repeatedly, but I just can't understand why Garrett and Phillips don't see this. It's just mind-boggling.

Mind-boggling and frustrating.

We have three good/great backs but we act like we don't have any.

It gets sssooo, ssssooo frustrating.

You defense is playing lights out for most of the game. You're in a hostile environment. The Packers are blitzing.

Why not try to line up and rely on your big guys to create holes? Why not use these three terrific backs we have?

I just can't understand it.

What was the clock at while they were on the goal line?

The play is a safe play if the ball is placed where only the receiver can catch it.

Craig

The clock was at 6 minutes and some seconds...I'd like to say 43.

How about throwing to a back (preferably FJ) past the the line of scrimmage. I thought the whole idea was to get FJ against a LB in the open field. Get him catching the ball moving downfield vs a screen that requires many more working parts to be successful.

what frustrates me isn't necessarily this one play. it's an accumulation of goal line passing plays.

The end of the first half against the Eagles
The end of the Denver game
The Carolina game with the two incomplete fades

They keep calling the passing plays, and they don't seem to work. The one play that did work was a miracle by Romo in the Atlanta game.

I dont think we throw enough screens or passes in general to the running backs. Felix has a lousy 4 recpetions this year, that is joke when you consider how explosive the guy is in space.

Some of the biggest, most important plays we had against Philly were on screens.

The Packers were blitzing on practically every play - screens are one of the tools that you have to use to beat the blitz.

thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if youre going to do a play like that (screen) atleast put players who are likely to be successful doing so.. did we do one to ogletree today though..? i think i remember one and it didnt work out but much rather him that roy williams or crayton.. or barber in the backfield with 8 men in the box keyed in on it.

i wouldnt have been surprised to see barber on a fade.

there were two one to ogletree where the eagles used cowboys style open field play (not well .. venting hahah) and slants and other passes like that cant help when we have two fairly big receivers and a great te.? sorry it seems like garret pulls out the screen in the worst situation possible. and too often for a play like that.

Exactly. You throw to either score or stop the clock, because if you dont get in on a run, another 20-30 seconds run off the clock.

You're not thinking that Romo is going to throw a pick there. At least you shouldnt be.

You cant coach a game scared to make a mistake.

Trust me, I know this far too well, I'm an Iowa fan.

It was a 10 point game with over 6 minutes left. Getting the score is more important then saving 60 seconds at that point in the game. If we struggled with running the ball on the goal line it would be one thing, but that isnt the case.

What's so frustrating to me is that either Wade refuses to say anything to Garrett about emphasizing the run or Garrett simply doesn't listen. Wade has said on several occasions during his pressers how we have to run the ball more, how we have to get Choice more involved (in our regular running game because those comments came after Choice was running the ball out of regular formations in KC) and then come game time, nada.

Further, as a DC, I'm sure he is keenly aware of TOP and how that would help his D.

No, it was a 17 point game.

I'm not saying I agree with the call, because I dont. Run a freaking QB sneak and get a yard.

I'm just saying I understand the thought process of the play-call.

Why is he obsessed with passing period?

Good Question. Jason Garrett is just a dumb offensive cordinator. It makes me wanna puke the way he called that game today. First of all, he don't stick to the run until the pass open up. He just called 85% pass plays.

Garrett sucks.

properly? Felix should be running out of the razorback and getting the screens Choice is getting. More swing passes and sweeps for Jones. They are not using him properly.

Roy Williams what the? Key fumble, key drop.

Flozell Adams sometimes seems disinterested. Need OLine depth now. Proctor shouldn't even see the field.

Scandrick needs to pull his head out and stop with the stupid penalties.

With the LB's blitzing where was Witten and middle screens?

Phillips needs to get a handle on the stupid penalties that are really costing this team.
