The Lance trade was the best Jerry move of all time

Only if he can developed into a decent QB, looks like Jerry or Stephen wanted to get a cheap replacement for Dak down the road ( not immediate ) . if it works like that , brilliant or its yet another experiment.
In the video I watched jerry said this move was like finding Romo and later Dak lol.
He also said lance was "high value" the cowboys according to jerry had him on their draft board as a 1st to 2nd round pick lol.
I mean he would have been one of those not both, so me thinks jerry was lying there.

Jerry only wanted him as he was a former 1st round pick, and they ignore he was also a bust.(just like getting whedon)
The team that drafted him got nothing from him and after giving up 3 picks 1st round to get him , was letting him go for a 4th.
SF called jerry, not the other way around. So either they reached out to the sucker, or SF FO is really stupid.

The cowboys have never develop a qb since jimmy was here with aikman.
Romo was developed under parcells and payton, and then developed himself from 2007 onward.
Dak showed up ready to go, and has since gone downhill somewhat under cowboy coaching.

It seems odd that SF wants to give up on lance when all they have is purdy right now. If they thought he had potential I think they would have kept him.

Agree with all of this. Based on Shanahan's comments, I think the game was moving a bit too quick for Trey and he needs reps...but given how the 49ers were moving, they had no more time to invest in a guy who is "getting ready" in year 3. Sam Darnold has been playing for his NFL life for 3 offseasons now and Trey didn't get the memo on how hungry he needed to be. Hopefully this is a wakeup call. Not showing up because you lost a QB competition also doesn't bode well.

Although he is an intriguing talent, in my opinion, his main value is as an avatar for Jerry's displeasure with Dak's lack of playoff progress.

Dak hasn't played well mostly against the 49ers #1 D. Took a miracle play by Rodgers against Green Bay. Otherwise, been fairly decent in the playoffs. Absolutely annihilated the Bucs even though everyone wants to conveniently throw that game out.

I tended to give him some lee-way on the 49ers, especially the first one as the whole team looked petrified but especially with the disaster that was the WR group last year. At the same time, the guy is paid a crap ton of money to do the job. He's also getting long in the tooth, he probably doesn't have much time left if he doesn't get over the hump.

Jerry's always nailing jelly to the tree, so it should really be no surprise all around that he did something like that... Jerry has a a history of passive-aggressiveness towards players when they want big money. He was pissed about Emmitt big time in 1993. I disinctly remember him telling a reported that he was pissed about Emmitt. Lost two games and that was over.

He’s shown absolutely no ability to play anywhere close to Dak or Rush so you think he’s one of those Transformer toys?
When did he have the opportunity? We have no idea what he’s capable of. Same thing when we drafted Prescott in the fourth round. I guess we should’ve quit on him then to

I am genuinely getting concerned that you do not know what speculation actually means. Unless you think units of time are speculation, and while there is something to that there is no way you are talking about that, then everything I was referring was fact based things that have already happened. Time flows in one direction so referring to things that have already happened is not speculation, but fact.

He was not injured this offseason. He played and was not good. Brock Purdy was hurt this offseason but Trey Lance participated and was beat out, straight up by Sam Darnold. The fact that the coaches picked Darnold is not speculation. That word does not mean what you think it means. Since 2019 he has not started more than 2 games (and not started and finished more than 1). That is also not speculation. That is again a fact. You can look it up and confirm the truth of it.

Nothing I have said is speculation unless you genuinely do not know what that word means.
I don’t think you know the difference between opinion, and fact either

When you refer to things that already have happened., And decide that it’s going to continue that way. It’s pure speculation. There’s no fact in it whatsoever. You don’t know the future. You know what’s already happened that is it. Change is inevitable. Unless you don’t think that’s true also

It was a Stephen Jones, McClay, McCarthy move with Jerry the owner and GM figurehead speaking and acting like he was solely participating in the player acquisition battles as usual. Jerry deserves credit for rolling along with the initiative. Jerry's diminished role over at least half a dozen years as GM has been pointed out by media and fans ad nauseum. Yet the contradictory seesaw praise and rebukes persist in here. Certain forum members have post-traumatic Jerry syndrome.

Oh its elementary school reading comprehension that you do not get and not the ability to look up what words mean. This is much easier to correct. The past 3 years have already happened. Him losing out on a backup job to Sam Darnold already happened. This year is the Cowboys coaches telling us the depth chart which again not speculation because its already been said, which has him at 3rd. I have not drawn a conclusion in my posts about the fact that he gone 4 years, and by the coaches own words it will reach 5 years, without playing more than one complete game of football in a season. The reason I have not done that is because the method of argumentation I am employing here is called "res ipso loquitur" or "the thing speaks for itself". I basically presented the undeniable facts and you drew your own conclusion from them, and judging by your replies you do not like the conclusion that the facts took you down but sadly the facts just are what they are.

Lance has thrown less passes in his entire career which includes high school and college, than Geno Smith threw last year.

I no longer care what you have to say. When you can’t distinguish between fact, and opinion. Nothing else matters. Enjoy the season.

The nfl is business, Dak next year will cost 55 Million at the top, and is in a limit that he can or can not sign a labor extension, what this season will be decisive to see if it is given or not that contract extension, all depending on what Dak does, bringing Lance is something logical, is to risk to see if Lance with a second wind, can resurface and still has a chance because he is still young, if this is given will be a Boom, Lance has given to the cowboys right now a projection and a spectacion that Dak has not given to the cowboys, Dak is only the starting QB but they don't talk about him, they talk about rookies and players that are being spectacion, but Dak is only Dak, he is not the player that people are talking about, he is not the player that people are waiting to see, no, first there is Micah, Diggs, Mazi, Deuce, Lamb, Pollard, Cooks, Gilmore, and some more before Dak, there is more expectation to see what Lance is going to do than what Dak is going to be, it is the reality no matter who it hurts.

I certainly can't fault Jerry. Any GM would have made this deal in this case. Low risk, hi reward.

translation, he wont be here at that cap hit number. This trade was made with this in mind. We are anticipating letting Dak leave. That means Jerry is betting on Trey.
