Not just money. Ego. JG is Jerry's hand-picked coach. He 'groomed' him and 'trained' him and if he wins a Superbowl with him, no one anywhere can take anything away from Jerry. Unlike what he felt happened with the Jimmy SBs. That's why the moment Garrett had the slightest whiff of success the checkbook came out and he was locked up for a ludicrous 5 year extension. That's why last year's 12-4 is going to give Garrett every excuse to fail for years before anything is done about it.

Honestly I think Romo could come back and we could lose out the whole rest of the way and the only thing that will change will be possibly Marinelli (if a Great Sacrifice is needed), or more likely some more poor slob lesser assistant coaches. But Garrett is the Anointed One who will bring Jerry his rightful greatness Jimmy stole from him.

Plus he'll be damned if he's going back to walking on eggshells with a more experienced coach again. After all, Jerry has been doing his best work...

He also stated why give him all this training and he go off and win a SB for another team. He's said the same thing about a drafted QB as well. Why should we train him and then he leaves to become great.

We are doomed.

Garrett is not going anywhere else and winning a Super Bowl. He failed his training. 0 - 7 equals no future NFL HC job. This is the least of Jerry's worries in my opinion. Garrett's guaranteed money on the contract is the issue. The almighty dollar is always the main issue.

7 straight losses. It's got to be on JG. You have to do something to eek out a win. Everyone Jim a Harbaugh goes, he wins right away. Coaching matters and JG gives us nothing on gameday. I've never been a fan of his as an OC either. He's a good leader and motivator but that's not enough in the NFL.

Now to jerry. Letting players go in free agency is ok. But you have to find adequate replacements. That's Jerry's biggest failures. No RB, no backup QB. No depth at LB after letting carter and Durant walk. Our secondary is bad. Not good enough.

If Garrett goes off and wins a SB with another team it will prove it's the culture of this franchise that is responsible for all the mediocrity.

I hate Rod Marinelli's style of defense. The bend but don't break style has gotten old this year. Rarely does he blitz and furthermore the words exotic and blitz are not in Marinelli's play calling sheet he looks at every single game. Why can't Lawrence, Crawford, Hardy, Gregory, Mincie get to the qb on a consistent basis? Rushmen indeed need to get their not almost get their. Coming into this season I thought the front guys would get consistent pressure on opposing qb's and the backend guys would flourish with int's all year long. Has been anything but that scenario. Heath pulled in two yesterday but gives this defense like 5 for the year I think. Pathetic and unacceptable to say the least. This defense has broken down in the 4th quarter when it mattered most. I don't dislike Rod Marinelli at all and don't want him to be the sacrificial lamb but on the other hand I'd like to see a new DC come in here with fire in his belly and change this defense as well as the weak links in it and put some fear in next years opponents for a change. That's my rant in the one allowed thread in the fan zone.

Jerry is and always will be concentrated on the money-makers. His philosophy is and always been he can win if he can just bring in enough stars.

Contrast that with Parcells, who was probably more obsessed with constantly churning the bottom third of his roster to find talent than who was at the top of it.

He's coming back next year for two reasons:

1) It's too difficult to change coaches and offensive system at this point in Romo's career. The only coach who could conceivably get around the Romo factor is Sean Payton.

2) He just signed a big contract.

Not complicated changing this crap... The blocking system is probably the most difficult, but Callahan already started it..

Experts everywhere said the 49er's had the worst off seasons in league history (possibly in all of sports history) and most would agree. They went the cowboy standard 8-8 last year.

We went 13-4, inches away from an NFC championship appearance against a team we already beat.

.....The 49er's have a better record at the moment.....

A collective failure from top to bottom.

Commanders were a mess this off-season with the GMs wife taking her husband's supposed affairs on Twitter. Gruden was getting bashed for the whole RG3 benching and they had a shuffle OL.

Dumbest reasoning ever...

It's not like the training has shown its effects, other than Dallas needs to revamp its training program as well as everything else..

Well, at least nobody pulled a hamstring this year, I think...

Change is needed in this team in a big bad way. Garrett would be a good coach if he has the ability to make the proper changes to win games. Thats the problem here. If we want immediate change without having to dump Garrett then its all up to him. He should dump the playbook. Get rid of it and go with what got us in the playoffs lastyear.

Don't they have a copy of Callahan's playbook lying around? I frankly, think that we messed up by not resigning Callahan. I also think this started when they let Murray leave so easily. Last years team was a close knit group and felt like it was family. We are no longer that team and it started for letting Murray leave so easily and everything went downhill from then on.

Thus this is the fault of the FO. It could have been avoided if they just took the necessary steps to keep this team intact. But they didn't. Thus the team is unraveling before our eyes.
I agree.

We started off with rationizing we couldn't afford to keep Dez AND Murray and then we go out and sign Hardy for more than we could have had Murray and Hardy is dragging the whole team thru the mud with his behavior.

We have intellectually attempted to improve the team while forgetting what wins.

Callahan is a missing part of what is wrong.

He obviously played a big roll in what is right about the offense.

Making Linehan play caller may have been a mistake..Callahan in retrospect might have been a better choice.

And trying to run by committee has never worked for us and never will.

Having to run guys in and out of the lineup just telegraphs what is coming..

where as having one back in who can do it all is much more of a disguize what is coming.

You would have thought these coaches would have known that and made adjustments.

But they didn't for whatever reason..

whether that was Jerrah or Stephen or whom I don't know.

I just know Garrett doesn't have that sort of seniority to do it.

So I look at most of the problems coming from Jerrah and last year him getting some recognition as GM where maybe he shouldn't have.

The players deserve more of the praise than anybody.

And other than Romo..few get it.

I agree, the jones boys tried to go cheap, and be smart and fix a good thing.
They thought any RB would do, and randle would do just fine, and they let others go like moore who just shut down dez, and durant, carter and others
who were getting the turnovers.
They thought weeden was a good bkup too.

This is an honest question but I wonder if another team would hire JG? I'm thinking no but I'm jaded at this point.
