Bottom line is if you throw 58 times with our WRs and line against a sub-par pass defense, you have a real shot at 400-450 yards.
The key was that he kept his TD-Int positive. A lot of times, that any attempt leads to more ints.

Still takes a very good QB, which Dak is, but 400 yards on that many attempts against that defense isn't some unicorn.

Today's NFL is geared to help QBs. Throwing for 300 is average. Most good QBs nowadays throw for 300+ yards on average, but how many pass for 400+?

That should answer your question.

Okay, so would you consider Bridgewater a good QB since he dropped 367 yards against the vaunted TB pass defense in 2020? How about Jameis Winston when he threw for 400+ yards 3 times in 2019 leading to a 5,000+ yard passing season? That said, what about these QB's who passed for over 400 yards at least once in 2020: Cousins, Ryan, Stafford, Allen, Murray, and Burrows.....are they considered good QB's and at the level of Dak based on throwing for 400 passing yards? How about these QB's from 2019 that threw for over 400 yards at least once: Dalton, Fitzpatrick, Schaub, Garappolo, Winston, Goff....are they at the level of Dak?

Okay I did.

If Dak attempted 2 more passes, it would have been the 51st time in all of NFL history that a QB hit 60 pass attempts. For context, there have been 14,000 games logged in NFL history. About 1/5 of those before the forward pass really took off (pre-Unitas).

So no, it’s not common, Dak was approaching NFL record books. Tom Brady, for comparison, has played over 20 years and never threw that many.
Tom Brady, at the age of 44, threw 50 times against the Cowboys this past Thursday night.

It all depends on how good the Defenses they played against. That's what you are failing to understand.

I would tend to chalk that up to the WFT o-line being able to block for him and also Tampa not having any film on him. Let's not get carried away though.. The WFTs put up 23 points and Heineke put up a nice 78.4 passer rating. I think that says a lot about him. Dak put up 100 more yards and 2 more passing TDs.. Seems like to me that's an appreciable gap..

Perhaps but also keep in mind that prior to that playoff game Heinicke had a career total of 92 pass attempts and 1 start (back in 2018) so I would think that Dak's 69 career games provided him an advantage.

Yes, and if we remove Dak's last 8 attempts to match Brady, he doesnt even have 350 yards passing. He becomes another "average" 300 yard passer, as you say.

So that was a big difference.

Leading up to the game all I heard from Dak critics is how Dallas would be blown out and all points would be garbage points. Yet now many of the critics do not have the balls to stand up and say Dak played a very good game. You want to know why some call you haters? because you act like it.

They don't have the decency to admit they were wrong, much less admit Dak is elite.

Which he parlayed into 100 more yards and 2 more passing TDs despite the defense having a thousand miles more film on him. Heinicke was decent against Tampa.. Dak was outstanding.. And lest we forget, Dak had to deal with a full house of 70,000 in full throat on banner raising night.. Heinicke played in front of what? 10,000 fans? I played in front of bigger crowds in high school..

Russell Wilson won on the road, then ya look at his stats, yep, solid!

Winning on the road is a biggie in the NFL.

So it looks like the best week one QB...Russell Wilson.

I will not go as far to say "elite" to me elite is saved for those who perform at a top level every year but then my list of elites is very short so not really a knock on Dak. Having said that by all accounts Dak went out and played an outstanding game and it should be acknowledged but of course some have dug their heels in so deep they can't muster up the balls to say it.

No, it's not!

In 2020,

The Buccaneers PASS D ended up giving up a passer rating average of 94.3.

The Bears PASS D ended up giving up a passer rating average of 94.9.

https://www.nfl.com/stats/team-stats/defense/passing/2020/reg/all

Pretty much proves the Bucs D had a better PASS D in 2020.

I rest my case...

So what about the Rams who had almost 900 fewer passing yards against them than the Bucs in spite of only 69 fewer attempts against them? Washington also had almost 900 fewer passing yards against them in spite of 88 fewer attempts against them?

Oh, and these teams had lower passer ratings than TB:

PITT 76.7
Rams 80.4
WASH 81.4
NO 83.3
BUFF 86.9
Miami 87
Balt 87.2
SF 88.6
NE 89.3
KC 89.4
SEA 90.2
IND 90.5
GB 91.1
SD 91.4
ARI 91.5
DEN 92.1
NYG 93.2

Were all those defenses better against the pass than TB?

:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

You don't understand how a QB passer rating works and why?

I dont think anyone is Failing to understand anything at this point.....the stances are and have been set, If you watched that game and came away thinking Dak is our problem...nothing about actual football will change thier minds. We couldn't run the ball even when our QB was shredding the defense...We have a majoe hole in our secondary that got exposed all night, the ST was bad in all jobs. In the redzone if you have 0 fear of the offense gaining meaningfull yards running the ball pass coverage becomes REAL EASY they stopped the run with 5 and 6 man boxes which means you have 6 to 5 in zone coverage on a short field....again no one is failing to see this, they see what they want to see.

In 2020 Chicago beat TB 20-19 behind Foles so I guess just 20 points was needed for the Bears....and the Saints beat TB 38-3 in 2020 so I guess just 4 points would have been good enough? I do not see your point.
The point was pretty clear. Its a luxury to have to be able to score 4 points in order to win a game lol. What's the confusion?

Russ had a helluva game.. however I think most would agree that the Bucs are a tougher opponent than the Colts and their turnover machine QB.. I could not resist the opportunity to point out that Wentz is still up to his old tricks.. Dude is just really good at turning the ball over at the worst possible time. It's a gift I think..
