Choc, my agenda isn’t to knock everything Jerry does. My agenda is to see the Cowboys win another SB. And we aren’t going to win one again until we make some major changes in the way we construct a roster.
I'm with you Bob, and I'm not sure how you dont knock Jerry if your being truthfull about what has happened for 28 years...again switching out the players and coaches AGAIN without changes to the "GM's" plan to win is just going to bring more of the same..that doesnt mean i'm good with the current players/coaches..it means if Jerry doesn't change then why would you expect the next players and coaches HE picks would change the outcome..

When you have Mahomes and he is the offensive system for KC, then you can afford to trade Tyreek Hill for draft picks to build the supporting cast (including a 1st rounder that turned into All-Pro CB McDuffie and a 4th rounder used to move up to draft WR Rashee Rice in 2023). That also allows you to make your draft priorities clear as you can afford to go with defense (2022 1st round pick was pass rusher Karlaftis). Even though they're not much of a running team, Mahomes and the passing game can also make a 7th round RB like Pacheco serviceable
Preach it bro.

Precisely.
Its like they totally dont understand the part about the true franchise guy covers over a lot of team warts.

He doesn't need 5 all pro olinemen OR the 85 Bears defense.

His "individual ability alone" can carry a lesser team with holes in certain areas.

This seems to be ignored here cuz they want so bad for the lesser QB guy and team narrative to be proven that it keeps being repeated over and over.
And yearly playoff results keep on disproving that narrative.
Then there’s the side who thinks there are more than one Patrick Mahomes. There’s not! Just like Brady. Sure, there was Peyton, but how many rings does he have?

Mahomes eats a ton of cap space. They are somehow getting it done. Obviously Mahomes is way better but the chiefs have figured a way to have a great supporting cast with the most expensive player in the league.

The chiefs also have one of the best GMs in the league - Brett Veach. When you look at their roster construction vs ours, it’s embarrassing.
can you show me in the last 5 drafts how they are better. i’m driving cross country and cannot look it up.

Here's something to make you sick on this fine morning!!! We took Jaylon Smith in the 2nd round in 16. Chris Jones went to the Chiefs 3 picks later.
And couldn’t even play for over a year……

Peyton never played that well in the SB
Mahones is something else
BUT remember that SB vs TB and Brady when Mahomes was on the run the whole game? He was not able to do much no matter how great he is
You need more than a great QB to win it all; look at Rodgers with only one ring. Brees was pretty great as well; one ring. Dan Marino got none; Jim Kelly got none.

I don’t have that mindset. I would be glad to part ways with Dak. I’m tired of watching him. But if we don’t fix the trenches here it won’t matter who’s playing QB.
While I’d agree with your overall message here in this thread I’m not sure I’d go that far by saying Mahomes wouldn’t matter.

Hes been surrounded with less talent and still matters enough to be the difference even in an underdog role against arguably a more talented overall team.

Since we don’t have that option we have little choice but to try an upgrade all of our other weaknesses hoping it will matter.

But I’d certainly like my chances more with Mahomes.

Great observations here in the thread. Upper tier talent from both teams. IMO the Chiefs coaches put their team in position to win and the players responded and executed as they were PREPARED to do. DC hasn't had that since Jimmy Johnson and Bill Parcels. DC is sadly a long, long way off.

All the Cowboys needed was Chris Jones, a linebacker, and a running back. That's pretty close.
The Cowboys need 2 nasty LBs, probably at least 2 DTs that run stuff, a couple of OL, a RB and some depth. Close? Horseshoes and hand grenade close?

Dallas builds outside in, instead of inside out. We are very weak up the middle on defense and have been forever now. Which is why we get abused come playoff time year after year. We don't value the inside of the trenches. We love the flash of the outside skill players.

This is how the great recent defenses like Tampa, Seattle, NYG, Baltimore, Denver built themselves. Inside out. Every one of those teams won a Super Bowl, too. We don't generate any pressure up the middle. Teams can establish the run with ease on us. We wear down as the game goes along.Pressure, especially right in the QB's face, is the key to stopping any QB. I don't care if you are Mahomes, Brady, Montana, etc. No QB is immune to playing worse under pressure.

Our defense time and time again just sits back and lets these QBs have all day to throw. Even backup QBs at this level will pick you apart if you give them all day. Especially in today's game where defenses can't play that physical in the secondary and you have guys running open at a high rate. But we'd rather pay top money for outside speed rushers and DBs and cheap out where it counts. And yet, it never ever has worked.

a lot of yall don’t get that Mahomes doesn’t need a great supporting cast. He’s that good. He’s probably 10X better than anyone else.
As a huge Texas Tech fan who saw Mahomes play a ton in person when he was in college…he didn’t have a defense at Tech, and they never came close to winning the Big 12. His last season there, he threw for close to 800 yards and 7 TDs against OU…and lost 66-59 because he didn’t have a defense.

Look I’m not intending to diminish Pat Mahomes in the least. He’s the best player in the league. I’m just saying no QB is good enough to win a SB without a supporting cast - especially on defense.

I agree. Their db's were very impressive last night. They were all over the Niners. Late in the game they stuffed CMC a few times as well.
And yet we sit back all game and let Love have his pick of wide open guy after wide open guy. Maddening. Our defense wilts away when it needs to make a play in the playoffs. KC's defense rises to the occasion. Last 2 drives to end the game, pressure got to Purdy and he had to unload 2 uncatchable balls to kill the drive. He had open guys on both of them. Those 2 plays were the difference, especially the one at the end of the 4th. Had SF converted that 1st down, they were already well within FG range and KC only had 2 timeouts left. SF probably wins if they convert that. Also, if they get the TD in OT, their defense against Mahomes can now sell out and be much more aggressive. But since they only got 3, the defense still had to be cautious not to give up a game ending TD on any given play.

This front office has proven they don't know how to come close to build a championship roster. Heck, we can't even come close to building a conference championship appearance roster.

The message i received is to build up and invest in a strong and tough DL, LB and OL....skilled position players other than QB do not have to be paid more than $8-10m per.....if you have one superstar who is a difference maker, ok..but that's it. The first four or five years of a skilled position players are usually their best years anyway. Your franchise QB should be talented enough to raise the other player's levels and not the other way around. . If you don't have one, don't sign him to a big extension that will be an anchor around your neck. Bus drivers do not get paid like Formula one drivers.

oh yeah, and get yourself one great HC and let him coach. Not some lackey you like to drink with and eat nachos and stroke your fat ego.

Lol, my mock had 2 top dtackles, 2 linebackers, that would help a lot. They are going to have to come up with some free agents. I think they will win the division and Washington will jump Philly.
