How about Bortles? He might be available at 16 or 17. Kid has ideal size, a terrific arm and enough athleticism. He's an Andrew Luck type QB IMO.

To be honest tonight's game was the 1st game of his i've watched. I really wasnt impressed. He does have ideal size and a pretty good arm, but wasnt impressed with his accuracy or decision making.

I'm not sure i'd spend our 1st rounder on him. I'd give it up in a heartbeat for Manziel or Bridgewater though.

McCarron would be a decent pickup in the 2nd/3rd range. Stephen Morris or Aaron Murray later on in the draft intrigue me as well.

Drew Brees played at Purdue. It always appeared cold and windy any time I watched him play with the Boilermakers even early in the college season. He really had to learn how to play in the elements during his college days. The transition to playing in San Diego was an easy one and then it got easier going to the dome in New Orleans. He actually has trouble going back to the elements as most QBs do. Manziel will have a tough transition if he ends up in Cleveland. He doesn't have the strongest of arms and often throws off balance. His first couple of years will be a battle for him.

He's one of the more hated players in the country.

Not by me, but by many. Talk about divisive.

3 out of 4 people I talk to about him think he's a disaster waiting to happen. Can't say I honestly know one way or the other. He's fun to watch though.

I'm ready for it, let's do it - if nothing else, as stated above, for the energy and excitement it would bring.

If you can trade up for a cornerback, you dang sure should be able to trade up for a quarterback.

I can see the Texans trading to get Mallet from the Patriots and going in another direction with their top draft pick.

I can see them doing that, but it would be the dumbest thing they ever did.

In general, the NFL minimizes the impact of athletic running QBs and requires much much more mental ability than college. Also, he is small and has questionable NFL caliber arm strength.

Someone should mention that running QB thing to San Francisco, Carolina, Seattle, Kansas City, Indy and the Jets.

The Jets? Geno Smith averaged less than 1.5 yards per carry in college and totaled around 350 rushing yards during his 4 years at WVU. He really didn't run that much this season for the Jets averaging 4.5 carries per game. That is nothing compared to someone like Michael Vick. Even RGIII averaged more carries. Terrelle Pryor averaged 7.5 rushes for carry. That is a running QB. And when Geno Smith ran it was because his passing was just horrible. Since the Jets were one of the worst offenses in the league I would hardly consider that as a good endorsement for drafting a running QB. No one wants their offense to be as bad as the Jets.

Colin, Cam, Russell and Andrew do use their legs and they are all built more sturdy than Johnny. I think the fear is that Manziel won't be able to take the punishment those other guys do.

I have to admit it he's won me over too...

The biggest drawback with Manziel is the fact that he is a celebrity QB, without question.

Love the way he plays on the field as he is as dynamic as a young Romo and is unquestionably a stronger leader. But putting him in the spotlight in Dallas should scare anyone.

Those QBs run far less than Johnny. With the exception of Russel Wilson, those QB are much bigger. I don't think it's too hard to concluded that Wilson is a more cerebral QB than Johnny and probably runs the lest of the QB in your list.

Compare Johnny to RG3. Both were decent passers that ran around a lot in college. RG3 came into the NFL, ran around a lot and had success. Then he got hurt from running around too much, tried to become a pocket passer only and was not very good.

The guy is playing with 1 receiver and one lineman. That's it. So what he's doing with basically no talent around him is astonishing.

You mean one of the very best WRs and Olineman in the entire country? Those two guys?
Most QBs would dream of starting out with those two and dropping down from there.

He's been truly great, I agree. But they have plenty of talent on the offensive side of the ball.

Straight beast. Brees with Vicks legs.

I think maybe you were joking, but I'm not sure.

Brees passing >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Manziel
Vicks speed >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Manziel

Manziel does have wiggle though and he does pass well enough to play at the next level...imo.

I wish he would be wearing a Star. Reminds me of Brees that can run. He has Staubach written all over him. Perfect QB for Dallas!

Jerry loves Manziel. Would not surprise me if Manziel falls, Jerry takes him. I'd be happy as a mofo.

I think Johnny is a better passer than rg3 was coming out and I don't think Manziel HAS to run to be successful. I think Russell Wilson is a better comparison, he too has been undersized but is a great leader and just flat out wins. I will admit that I have concerns as to whether Johnny has a strong enough arm to put the ball into a much tighter window in the nfl than he had in college. But the bottom line is Manziel is the most dynamic and exciting player I've seen since Vick and Barry sanders.any owner that passes on Johnny loses a lot of money cuz he is gonna put tails in seats. I have always hated a&m but Johnny has made them must-see TV for me last two seasons. And he's made a marginal team a contender.

He has made A&M fun to watch, but they have not been contenders. He has height concerns like Russell Wilson, but Russell is a bit more compact and has a stronger arm. He will probably be gone before Dallas picks and Dallas has too many needs to move up to get him.
