Jimmy was asked by Greenie/Golic what ails the Cowboys offense right now and he said --right to the point---one of our receivers needs to step it up and make those catches that may look out of reach to the fans but the player knows he should have caught it...until our passing game puts fear into our opponents we will struggle the rest of the way
...he did not mention Roy by name like most of the other TV pundits always do but basically called out all our receiving core as a whole

Good that Jimmy didn't mention Roy. None of them are doing anything.

and he basically said Washington's defense was too good for our offense.

exactly, its not just roy, austin hasnt made any big catches in most of the games till at the end of the ball games. Same for crayton.

So, I still say we need to draft a wide receiver in the 2nd round, hopefully we can get one like the eagles did in the 2nd round when the drafted desean jackson.

i still think that too much blame has been put on Austin for "not stepping up"...

i try to look closely at where Austin is lined up at the snap, and i noticed several times where he is clearly not the first or second read, and some of those instances came where the CB was playing way off on him.

now i understand the play-calling has an effect on the reads and progressions, but i think there are too many plays right now where Roy is a 1st or 2nd read to try and force it to him and it's denying Austin some good opportunities on some matchups.

the other part i don't understand about the "expert" analysis lately is them leaving out that after Austin's huge games the defenses started rolling coverages over to him way more often. it is either him or Witten that get the consistent safety help, and that leaves other people with 1 on 1 coverage that they should be able to beat.

i think too much has been made of Austins #'s as though he's 1) always getting 1 on 1 coverage, and 2) he's already a superstar WR that should be uncoverable.

well that's my rant on this

Take it for face value, but I had a dream last night that Jerry was able to get Michigan WR Roundtree with the 32nd pick in April's draft. Don't ask why it was a guy from Michigan, it was just a dream. Everyone was pumped about it here too.

Wrong. Nobody is saying that the season is over. People are just saying that in order for the offense to get better, either Roy needs to show and start earning his paycheck or he needs to be sat down for someone who will. Up to this point, he has been a major disapointment and has set the franchise back. Show me a company that pays an employee top dollar to underperform without discipline or accountability and I will show you a company that will always fail.

so since we're 7-3 and in first place in our division, i would say we're a success to date, albiet with some issues to fix.

you anti-roy people just go nuts on this topic and let common sense get away from you.

show me a guy running a failed business who makes billions, please.

kinda a contradiction is it not? so if jones knows how to run a business, then they must see something in roy his haters won't see, correct? just using your own logic here.

the antiroy crowd has no shame in the lengths they will make up crap to get their point across, even if it hurts their point in the end.

Really? The offense needs him to step up? Seems like the offense was doing just fine the 4 games prior to the Green Bay game, and Roy only truly contributed in the Philly game. So, if that is true (which it is), the offense failing in the last 2 games truly is a collective effort (unfortunately).

Why is EVERYONE so convinced it is Roy? Tony, who I would not trade for anyone threw some terrible balls Sunday. Several people had drops..there were times when Roy was open and Tony threw a terrible ball. We CANNOT get the picks back....we could focus on that if we were 3-7 and the season was lost. But why are we losing focus AFTER a win. We NEED to do better...we just played the #1 pass defense in the NFL...and guess what, we did not pass the ball well. What a coincidence (sarcasm off). It is bad enough that EVERYONE outside of Dallas wants us to apologize for WINNING...but why are we? Like I said, I see other teams WRs running wide open...so I question why EVERYTHING with us seems to be in traffic...what is efficient about that? Is it it Garrett? Romo? the O-line? The WRs? You cannot tell me the passing game is off and it is ALL BECAUSE OF ROY!

Roy gets paid more for 1, some TO fans are still upset that would be 2 and 3 expectations have not been reached in terms of RW play. As for giving up a ton? We have up a 1st and a 3rd as for the 6th and 7th rd picks in that deal I don't lose much sleep on late day 2 picks.

Like I said, people can slurp on us being 7-3 all they want to. Fact of the matter is, if we don't start executing on offense on a consistent basis, we will get knocked out of the playoffs quickly. That's if we even get there with December on the horizon. Is Miles Austin built for December football? We'll see about that.

I get that...but the picks are gone...and quite frankly, I don't think Roy is UNPRODUCTIVE as he looks. Furthermore, I don't this passing offens will continue to be this unproductive. It's Dallas. Everthing is made out to be bigger than it is...GOOD or BAD. In the past this team was so emotinally fragile that people writing bad things about us after a WIN would distract this team. There are so many people responsible for us winning ugly Sunday (like poor tackling allowing Washington to convert 3rd downs)....like only sacking one of the EASIEST QBs in the league to sack one time....like Doug Free missing a block on 3rd and 1 to stall a drive at midfield..like Barber fumbling at the 8 yard line....like Folk missing a FG. And of course Roy could have made more plays....but MANY guys needed to make more plays Sunday and they did not. Why are we letting ALL of them off the hook because Roy is a popular target?

Because Romo is the golden boy for some so it's easier to to blame a receiver for dropping a ball or saying he ran a bad route than it is to say our QB is average at best.

Romo was awful. He laid Bennett out and almost got him knocked out of the game. His passes were high, behind, late, low, ugly and batted.

He is not a very good pocket passer. His best plays are when he scrambles around and defenses lose a receiver in coverage.

Teams have figured him out and they have figured out this lame arse offense.

Sure, we'll beat the bad defenses and score a ton of points simply because we have better players. Everyone will cheer and wet themselves because of what a stud Romo and Garrett are for scoring 35 points.

But, as I said last week, good defenses shut this team down. And it starts at the top. OC and QB. No receiver is going to look good if Garrett can't figure out how to get guys open and no receiver is going to look good if Romo can't throw a catchable ball or do a better job of reading coverages and anticipating where the ball should be thrown.

Thank God for our defense.

Not only that, but that draft is over and we're still doing fine at 7-3 with a shot to move to 8-3 going into the 5 week playoff push. You would think some people would move on, but fans love to put emotion into it. The only time I would actually be upset is if Roy Williams continues to not contribute and becomes a clear detriment to the team either on the field or in the salary cap, in which case it would be time to part ways. Other than that, I don't care how much money he makes just like I don't care how much money anyone else here makes. If you're wringing your hands or gnashing your teeth over someone else's salary, guess what? They probably make more than you, so just get over yourself.

But, it's what fans do. Breathe from the mouth, and freak out about things.

well had roy williams had not been given so much and so much for draft choices then so much wouldnt have been expected from roy. I think roy isnt playing with a lot of confidence right now.

I agree with you. I think RW has made some mistakes and I think RW has been blamed for somethings that where not his fault. The skins game Romo was off target on many of his passes not just the ones to RW. Romo did seem to find a groove late in the game to help put 7 on the board but through out the game Tony seemed to be high on many of his passes. Prior to that the last 2 games I felt that the timing between Tony and RW was progressing nicely. We have Raiders up next and I'm looking forward to seeing Tony have a big day and hopefully connect with RW for a few of them.
