When Rick was coming out from under the bed they had found a shirt Michonne apparently had just washed.

That guy appeared to be alive and unconscious.

I know they found Michonne's shirt prior. But they were yelling about a female while they were shooting up the place, inferring that it was a female walker.

It could also mean that they found the guy dead in the bathroom and started going ballistic, thinking the so-called owner of the shirt (female) was still in the house and killed the guy in the bathroom.

Interesting discussion so far.

Any ideas (from those who haven't read the comic) on the maps everyone is following? Think it really is sanctuary? I guess the characters don't care either way...it's at least a sign of hope.

They've mentioned a contest to win tickets to see the season 5 premiere on AMC....how do they know already the series will be renewed? I guess its that popular of a show? Has lasted even longer than Breaking Bad...which is a shock.

Since this show is based off a comic - any chance it lasts for 20 plus years, or as long as the comic itself?

I don't think there's any permanent happy place for them to go to in the short-term... At least not until this series concludes. I could see the last episode where they finally "get there". But up until them it's basically the Robinson's looking for Alpha Centauri.

They may have renewed it for two seasons automatically.

The whole zombie thing in general is going to crest, and it may have done that already.

The longer TV shows go the more expensive they get. And many of the people that now watch the show are going to get tired of the same themes played over and over gain, i.e. search for safe haven, have something get in the way, again search for safe haven.

The other problem is that given the nature of the show, the cast changes over at a high rate so it's difficult to form relationships with characters. Really the only character guaranteed to last to the end is Rick, because this is his story.

I see. Just wondering if that IS the final destination...which would mean they wouldn't get there until the series finale. Otherwise, is it another CDC-type location where all hope is lost...again.

Have you seen any speculation that the series is about the end of the world and Rick will be the only one left in the world who is not a zombie by series end?

I don't know if they'll ever find it (safe haven). I mean totally safe. It may be more likely that safe haven finds them.

No... Haven't come across that.

That could happen but I doubt it. As we've seen so far in the series, there are other living people out there. They may not be friendly... they may have selfish goals but they are out there. And sooner or later groups that are friendly and aren't looking to rape & ransack are going to combine and keep combining... And they'll have kids and the population will slowly grow. The big question will be is there a "cure" to keep someone from turning once they have died? If they do come up with something that would greatly help. At this juncture we don't know if anyone is immune. The guy at the CDC didn't think so, but that doesn't mean it that immunity doesn't exist.

The thing to keep in mind if this was really happening, i.e. a zombie outbreak, that these reanimated corpses would only be mobile for a relatively short-time... Just a few years until the ravages of weather, temperature and wild critters would simply make them immobile. Those decaying body parts are going to wear out.

Also keep in mind that folks in the colder regions are probably having a much easier time dealing with this because the undead are becoming frozen for some period of time. I mentioned in another post that it wouldn't be a surprise to learn that a great many people simply moved north to avoid much of what was going on. I mean some smart folks would have to think, "Frozen bodies can't move." And if they can't move they can't feed on you and create more undead and they're easy pickings to be made immobile permanently.

Unfortunately, there's no realistic way for Rick and the crew to ever find out if living up north would be one of the best options to survive.

Are we to interpret they are still within 50 miles or so of Atlanta?

I would think one of the best venues would be an island of some sort.

also buggin me -

you have a military man who loses not only a hot chick in short shorts, but the holy grail to follow glen.

you have a military man who after all this time, never showed doctor smart how to fire a gun.

early on this show paid attention to detail. they ignore it now.

Again, I have to say that the quality of writing has dropped substantially.

One guy 'knows the answer' and when he's asked about it he says 'it's classified?"

And the group is in some way OK with this?

So that when he dies, this secret (that likely doesn't exist and has never been written) dies with him?

Seriously?

We as viewers are supposed to buy this?

I think the drop off in quality is noticeable and huge.

it would be a bit of a trek, but there are all kinds of islands on the coast. if you have any walkers on it, you can kill 'em from the boat for the most part and burn the bodies.

http://www.goldenisles.com/ - there's 3 right there as a tourist spot and look, horses! rick likes horses. :) i just wonder how "full" the islands would be from other people thinking the same thing.

This "sanctuary" is unique to the tv show

It's that way in the comic if I remember correctly

No, it's not. It has a different name, but in the comic there is a walled sanctuary that comes in right about the same time in the story.

In Washington DC and it isn't even close to the same spot in the story.

No. There were two different safe zones. The one where Rick was constable, then the one with "jesus".

And yeah, it's about as close to the spot in the comics as can be, considering major characters that are dead in the TV show are still alive in the comics.

My point was this didn't follow the comic because, Neither were found directly after the prison, but after they traveled to Washington. They also were lead to the first sanctuary in DC by a man. They weren't guided there by signs along the road and Jesus lead them to the second after they captured him. The show could be alluding to one of those but to me it just seemed like something they were adding it. Never crossed my mind that it was one of those places watching the show.

Well, whatever the case may be, it definitely looks like poor writing to me. And if the TV writers had the option, which they appear to have, they should have corrected it.

I can't see any rational human being presented with that information who would hear "it's classified" and leave it at that.

How about you?

Yeah.

At this point in time (a year and a half after the start of the event) why keep it a secret? What's the point?

In addition if this guy, Eugene, was all that... Well I think he would have been in better company.
