This season could go sideways if the Cowboys were to stumble out of the gates against the Giants. It’s not going to be easy bouncing back the following week against Aaron Rodgers who has the Cowboys number. Coming off three straight opening day losses the Cowboys need to figure out how to get off to a good start, because I wouldn’t want to be facing Aaron Rodgers, needing a win to avoid an 0-2 start. The following week the Cowboys will be playing the Cardinals who will be starting a backup QB and we all know our history against backup QBs in recent years. There may not be a team in the league that struggles against backup QBs like the Cowboys.

This team won't be 5-12.

If they are though, so be it. There are worse things in life.

Just enjoy the ride. Call me a loser for that "defeatist" attitude but I can't change a danged thing on this team and neither can anyone else.
It's up to the coaches and team, who we have zero control over, and never will no matter what we say or do on a forum.

Their wins or losses aren't ours. The failure or Super Bowls aren't ours. We do nothing but sit in our corner and say what we say and it matters not, one, bit.

I love to speculate and play at football, but we aren't the people being paid millions to do this job nor do any of us even remotely deserve to be. We are not smarter than them no matter how much you love to say you are. If you were you'd be doing their job.
I'm sure I'll complain but I'm here for the ride.
Very well said

With the Cowboys opening vs the Giants, and then following that with the Jets, Cardinals, Patriots and 49'ers, the dream season could turn into a nightmare before the Cowboys get started.
While they are coasting through the preseason they are heading into a hornets nest with each of the first five teams they face. Only the Cardinals seem to be weaker this season, and that's only because they have uncertainty at the quarterback spot and coaching issues.
The Jets are coming to Dallas with something to prove and with Aaron Rogers at the helm; The Cowboys face the Cardinals in Arizona, the Patriots at home, and then back on the road to San Francisco.
Then they are at the Chargers before getting the Rams at home. By this point it is very possible that the Cowboys could be 3-5. Then they are at the Eagles before again facing the Giants at home. If things are going bad by the time they face the Eagles, this could end up as two more losses.
Then they go to Carolina and get Washington at home. This is really their first easy part of the season.
At home vs the Seahawks is winnable, but then they get the Eagles at home and then go to Buffalo and Miami.
They get the Lions at home, but I think the Lions will be tough. They finish at Washington.
This year could very easily end up at 5 wins and 12 losses. If things start going bad, they will likely stay bad.
This is the year Dak will have to be all that his fans hype him to be. He will have to be the reason that the Cowboys take the next step. The defense cannot hold up if they are having the carry the team by themselves. This is the year that there will be no excuses for Dak. He will either rise to the challenge or the Cowboys will implode.
If he doesn't, the Cowboys will get a high draft pick next year, and probably a new head coach.
Or they could be undefeated with the best defense in Cowboys history!!!

The Cardinals & Patriots will not make the playoffs . As far as the Giants & Jets I don’t see either as upper echelon NFL .
The Cowboys seem to be more prepared against upper echelon teams. I’m more concerned about the opponents they play that everyone seems to be sleeping on. We couldn’t have caught the Packers and Aaron Rodgers at a more bearable time than we did last season and we all saw what happened. Jacksonville wasn’t playing well when we faced them and we proceeded to blow a three score lead. Washington had given up on their season when we faced them in week 18 and we got pummeled by a rookie QB making their first NFL start. This is why you can’t disrespect any team the Cowboys face. We don’t know from one week to another what Cowboys team is going to show up. I don’t think it will be any different this season. They’ll look great some weeks, then out of nowhere lay an egg against a struggling team with a shaky QB situation. You have to hold your breath every week with the Cowboys.

The wheels could come off early any season. All it takes are a few injuries to core players, a close, a devastating loss or two, a bad coaching decision here and there....

But why dwell on that?

Should we at least wait until the first loss?

Why do you think the Jets are overrated? I mean, they are frickin' stacked. #4 D in the NFL and the O littered w/ good players. The only question is whether Rodgers can still play at a high level. That's it. They were 7-10 last season w/ horrific QB play.
Usually when a team gets hyped up like the jets, they don't live up to expectations. They need to show me that they are as good as everybody is saying. Rogers needs to show me that he can still be elite and that Father Time hasn't caught up to him. They very well could be legit. But I'm not betting the mortgage that they even win their division.

In for a long season with Dakota " WENTZ 2.0 " Prescot at the helm. He'll have excuse after excuse on why he's a lousy QB. First one out of the gate will be " It's the new offensive system McCarthy put in place".......LOL!

We struggle against the Cardinals, period. We've beat them ONCE (2017) in the last 5 meetings. 1-4.

Knowing the Cowboys they’ll start off 2-0, then lay an egg against the Cardinals and a backup QB. We’ll be catching a huge break not having to face Kyler Murray, who makes our defense looks like a bunch of Keystone cops every time we face him. It could end up being like when we played the Packers several years ago, and Aaron Rodgers was out with an injury. Everyone thought it was going to be a cakewalk facing Matt Flynn, who ended up having a career day against us, passing for almost 300 yards and 4 TDs. When you looked at the stats, you would’ve thought we faced Rodgers. If we get off to a 2-0 start I would be very concerned about the Cardinals. That could end up being the first egg we lay this season. It will be a road game and three of our five games were on the road last season. They’ll probably be struggling and as soon as the Cowboys pull the fans in making them believe we have a great team, they won’t show up for the Cardinals. I’ll be sure to save this post. Lol

We struggle against the Cardinals because of Kyler Murray, but he won’t be playing in week three. He’s still rehabbing an injury from last year. However, we’re likely to struggle against them anyway if we get off to a good start this season. That could end up being the first game this season where we decide not to show up. The Cardinals will probably be struggling and with no Kyler Murray we’ll get lulled to sleep and this fan base won’t be livid after the game. Lol The only way we show up for the Cardinals is if we get off to a 1-1 or 0-2 start and need a win.

Starting last season with a rotten egg against Tampa motivated us, especially losing Dak. Our defense really stepped up! Our pass rush was the best I had seen from the Cowboys since they last won a Super Bowl. We reeled off 4 straight wins after the stinker on opening day. We all figured we would lose to Philly on the road, so no surprise there. Once Dak returned, we got back on track blowing out the Lions and Bears. We were doing the same thing to the Packers, then decided to take the second half off. All we heard leading into the game was the players saying they wanted to win the game for big Mike…yeah right! Lol That’s when I knew this would be another season without a championship. Same thing happened against Jacksonville, we were pounding them, then decided to take the rest of the game off. I’ll know the Cowboys have a championship mentality, and team when they show up every week ready to play. Every team is going to lose some games, but you don’t want to lose a game, because you didn’t show up or decided to take the foot off the pedal and end up embarrassing yourself.
