I was listeningto thefan and there was a storm brewing over what romo said in an article, romo said, i hope to win a superbowl in 5 years. And some fans are still comparing romo to aikman.

Aikman has won playoff games and superbowls while romo hasnt. till romo wins in playoffs and superbowls, no way romo should be compared to aikman.

you can have all the stats that you want, but stats dont win ball games, its protecting the ball and winning when you have to in big games. Romo hasnt done that yet. Just thought some of your would want to know what they were talking about on thefan. 105.3

Guess we can't compare Romo to Trent Dilfer than either?

Teams win Super Bowls and occasionally a QB can carry that team to one but it isn't very often and Aikman certainly never had to carry the Cowboys to a SB.

Romo represents a much higher percentage of our offense and scoring than Aikman ever did. Doesn't mean Romo is better than Aikman but it does mean we rely on Romo far more, perhaps to the detriment of overall success.

Man people get overly touchy about every single comparison.

You can't compare Romo to __________________. You should be shot, dismembered, and then served at a cannibal bbq.

thats true, its like some players admitted that after romo got hurt, they felt they wouldnt win some games; wrong attitude to have, what it means and should mean to the players that said it, then you as a player have to step up your game and help the cowboys win till romo gets back

thats like in the late 70s and early 80s, ed jones and some other players said they didnt play as hard, because they knew roger would pull them out at the end of the game

i think to a large degree some of the offensive linemen and players think they dont have to play as hard, because romo will pull them out of the end of the game; again wrong attitude to have

It's perfectly fine to compare Romo to Aikman because Troy hadn't won a playoff game at this point in his career either.

Here's a name.....

Dan Marino

Was Aikman better than him?
No, he was not. But in a critical game, much like Tom Brady, I'll take an Aikman over a Marino or a Peyton Manning.

i wish romo would just keep his mouth shut and work hard and let his playing do his talking for him. it seems every time he opens his mouth he sticks his foot in it. with the great qb's you never hear a peep from them. i just get sick and tired of the drama. he needs to stop talking about winning post season games and super bowls and just go out and bust his *** and let things take care of themselves.

me too in big games Aikman was there more than most and aikman didnt care about stats but winning the big game baby

its like one game i remember, lincoln coleman came into the game, and messed up on a play, when he came back to the huddle, Aikman grabbed him by the jersey, and told him, your not gonna mess this up .#$%^&**(&%$#@!!

thats what romo needs to do, grow up and become the leader on this team, kinda like fitzgerald the star wr for cardinals, said one time, i thank Kurt Warner, he stepped on my neck when he needed too and kept me focused into i came into my own as a player.

thats why to me more leaders are needed on this team;

Yeah, I never heard a peep out of Elway, Favre, Aikman, Montana, or any other QB their entire careers. He should just shut up. They stick a microphone in his face he should sing Journey's "Don't Stop Believing" and nothing else should ever escape his festering gob.

The tease of Romo is that his failures are mostly attributed to not protecting the ball.

Of course thise directly impacts winning but Wade and Jason don't seem to have gotten that memo.

Until Romeo protects the ball and steps out of the tabloids he'll just be a tease.. imho one fans will grow tired of as fast as they jumped on his bandwagon.

I'd prefer "Faithfully", but then again I've heard Romo sing. ;)

I got this picture of Brendan Fraser as the huge basketball player on Bedazzled with all the canned responses. Minus the sweating of course.

Maybe it's just me but I see that as an indictment against Brad Johnson and is why he was cut and now has been retired. His playing days were simply behind him and Brooks Bollinger has been awful since college.

You can't have a dynamic offense based on the passing game and hand that over to Brad Johnson and expect the team to say "YEA BOY!!!!!"

Dallas needed to upgrade the QB depth and they have. They also need to balance the offense out but last year with a banged up Barber and Felix out, not sure the running attack was as accredited as it is now with three healthy(thanks for the announcement Drew), proven runners.

I'd also say maybe that's why some guys other than Brad were not resigned or simply released. It was time to change the culture of the team.
