He would have been in. Go back and watch.
I forget which foot it was, but it clearly went out of bounds. Regardless, it was a horrible playcall for a Cover 1 and a really bad read. That's a throw you don't make with that coverage.

The whole offense is bad. The scheme is archaic, the playcalling is predictable, the execution is awful, and Dak looks lost when he faces a competent D.

We look like we are in slow-motion out there. Everything takes forever to develop.

It’s like this offense is terrified of working the middle of the field.

Just another horrific display of ineptitude. I am sure the “comeback” will have JJ talking about how we were “hanging around the rim” and such lol
After running the ball, the Cowboys run play action bootlegs, to throw a 1-yard pass in the flat to the TE. THAT's making those LBers pay for stepping up to enforce the run.

After a bye week

McCarthy was NEVER the answer on offense. He's just an old Kellen Moore. Never trusted either.

Having said that, Dak is also likely not The Answer, not without a full roster around him...so, it's time to rebuild, from the coaches down. Can we start at JJ?

I don't think it's all on Dak. There was plays where he was sacked without having any chance. What about the play where he hit Turpin in face in stride? There is a lot of blame to toss around for this crappy season.

Yes. Exactly.

If I never see another slow developing TE bubble screen in the flat it will be too soon lol

I hear you on a rebuild— but they have committed to Dak. They have to figure out an offense that best suits what he can do.

Which is why it is so incredibly bewildering why JJ refuses to invest in a decent RB when it is so evident that Dak plays his best ball when he is backed up by a competent running attack

Yes, the play action passes with the TE in the flat as the primary read is beyond frustrating. It's basically a wasted play action play, and play action plays are precious. So indicative of that McCarthy playbook and playcalling.

Yes, if Dak is the QB over the next few years, then draft a RB and strengthen the offensive line. They have to start in the trenches, on both sides of the ball. Dak needs time, and trust that he will have some time. And this team has to be able to stop the run, so they need DTs and OTs, and then a MLB and a RB.

But really, this roster feels more than just a few key pieces away from excelling, it's simply not built right.

Dak and the offense stunk but the defense was just as bad if not worse. You can’t just ignore how poor the defense continues to play especially against the run. We gave up 223 yards on the ground and were getting gashed by the 49ers 3rd back. Purdy was gashing us on the ground and Kittle destroyed us in the passing game for almost 130 receiving yards. Before you point the finger at one player you need to look at the entire team. I get this thread is about Dak but too many fans are making this bad season we’re having all about him. Some are acting like if we had another QB we would be having a great season.
So you're maintain that the contract was worth it? He would at least be more motivated to impress another team, had we not offered him the contract.

None of these QB contracts are worth it but teams are paying them because if they don’t they’ll be left without a QB. You have to pay the going rate.

Dak is so good that another quarterback couldn't get us to to 3-4 this season? If your team has holes, it is better to do bad, without someone effecting the Cap so much, so you can rebuild. At this point, what exactly is Dak adding?

It's Dak's fault that the running game was averaging less than 3 yards a carry.

It's Dak's fault because the Cowboys ignored the RB position for three straight offseasons.

It's Dak's fault because the Cowboys are practically non-participants in veteran free agency.

It's Dak's fault that he is constantly running for his life as soon as the ball is snapped because the starting O-line has two rookies, including one that was considered a project when he was signed.

It's Dak's fault that the 2nd down average yards to go was 8.1 and 3rd down average yards to go was 6.5.

It's Dak's fault that the top four DE's on the team are injured and opponents can throw the ball at will.

It's Dak's fault that he is the highest paid player because Jerry wanted to prove to the world, once again, that he is an awesome negotiator and waited until the very end when the price was at it's highest.

Which available quarterback, that the Cowboys could have signed, would have won that game on Sunday?

C'mon. it wasn't on Dak. You know who it is on. You have always known. Just because nothing can be done about it doesn't make it any less true.

If you take away the INTs he hasn’t played that bad. He was solid against Cleveland and the Giants. He brought us back from a huge deficit against Baltimore to give us a chance in the end. Despite his turnovers against Pittsburgh he led us on a game-winning drive in the final seconds. There’s a real good chance we would be 1-6 without him. If you don’t know what Dak is adding to this team then this is a waste of time.

Dak can't bring himself to ditching the ball when his receivers can't get open. He'll risk throwing a pick, rather than doing that.
