Everybody needs to calm down & stop shooting the messenger. Even if he's relying everything he heard via Sam Hurd correctly, it doesn't mean Hurd has it right nor does it mean MBIII has it right. Now if Tony Romo was the source THAT would be entirely different.
There's just too many holes in this story -- way too many -- for us to get so excited and upset. Was going to list all those questions which must be answered to lend legitmacy to the story but I got tired of doing that cause there so many.
Frankly, most of us want MBIII resigned but doubt we want to pay out huge starter money until we very sure he can carry the whole load; Jerry probably feels the same way so he's offered a 1 year contract so he can see how well MBIII does. If Romo had to show what he could do, then MBIII shouldn't be offended/upset if he's also asked.
On the other hand, we also gotta be realistic. If MBIII is asking for so much money that there is no way the Cowboys can resign him to long term deal & still resign Ware, TO, Newman, etc. what do you want Jerry to do? I love MBIII but not if it costs us Ware. OK, if we can still afford keep Ware, but not keep Newman, what then? Which of the following players do we part with to keep MBIII? You gotta pick 2 (3 if Hamlin & Colombo are the 2 you pick).
Ware
Newman
TO
Canty
Hamlin
Colombo
vet WR (Detroit's Williams, Cards Boldin, Bengals Johnson)
