He had arguably the best year of his career in 2014.

That's after Romo said screw it and got more involved in his own game plan and JG was no longer calling the plays. I'm talking about Romo in 2008 when Sprano left and JG was given the full reign of the offense to install his crappy scheme.

I didn't think the playcalling was all that bad. They were patient in establishing the run and they did score 30 points (should have been 32) and that was with Switzer coughing up the punt return.

The only thing I have a problem with the playcalling is that as the game progressed they became more shotgun, 4/5 wide and dink and dunk and not nearly enough showing run and passing instead...perhaps getting 6/7 blockers and throwing a few deep.

But the defense was putrid and had no answer for the jet sweep and play fakes to Austin. Byron looked excellent and should have taken the pressure off Heath, but Heath didn't do anything and missed a tackle on the Gurley TD. We still cannot defend between the numbers.

It's not so bad losing as it is losing the same way and never figuring it out.

The QB needs to do a better job at getting him passes to catch.

Its like some of you skip the game and just read the stat sheets

I can name 3 uncatchable balls off the top of my head

1. Dak throws a deep pass when dez runs an out

2. Dak air mails a pass 10 yards past dez on a crucial third down when Rams had all momentum

3. Dak forces a pass in double coverage in the endzone thats almost picked

Cowboys should have been milking clock and protecting lead in 2nd half. They got away from the run AGAIN and let Rams back into game. Garrett and Linehan have completely forgotten the importance of dirty yards and have gone completely pass happy even when QB was struggling with accuracy early and often in the 2nd half.

D was tired in 2nd half too b3cause Cowboys could not extend drives to save their lives.

Garrett n3eds to get back to believing in dirty yards, especially with the lead. His time management skills continue to hold this team back.

SEVEN field goals, to be exact. And not a single takeaway, of course. The defense stunk. LOL since when is 35 points allowed acceptable as long as it took a ton of field goals to get 35?

As for Dak and the O, 30 points is 30 points. It doesn't matter when you get them. If all 30 came in the 2nd half, the complaint would be that we got off to a slow start.

I just read this tweet that explains my thoughts exactly.
We know what we are and what we are not, this D is not good, it's up yo the O to win, if not we'll have another 8-8 season, JUST MY OPINION.

It's clear teams' game plan is bottle up the run.

If the Cowboys and Dak refuse to attack down the field, then this season is going to be one big old ball of inconsistency week to week, drive to drive.

I am frustrated with Dak's inability or make any plays down the field. Do we attack the mid range passing routes in the middle of the field? Is the inability to make teams pay Dak's fault, coaching?

A year after they went 13-3 lol? Which is ALSO arguably Romo's best year of his career lol?

Problem is, this formula of ignoring the defense will not win us a title.

Yep, that I can agree on, but a good offense like last year can get us to the playoffs.
It seems they are out of sync this year. Hope it changes.

They're not ignoring it....they are rebuilding it.

Sweet.

Only 3 years away I guess from completing a total rebuild where we will have elite talent at every defensive spot to make up for Marinelli's shortcomings and crap scheme.

Ok Sydia so what do you want them to do? You want them to go out and buy a defense? Go out and buy AJ Green? What do you want them to do? You want them to build a contender overnight when its not that easy.

All I See is a bunch of complaints but no solutions.....replace the coaching staff....ok...cool. Replace them now with who?

And by then we will be rebuilding on offense, SMH

I want them to look long and hard at the leadership of the team.

And at the very least, if they won't fire Garrett if his thing ends up a .500 season or so, find a dynamic defensive coordinator who won't play so passive in an offensive driven league.

It's also not my job to tell them who to get. That's supposed to be their expertise. All I know is our current staff is simply not good enough to take this team to the SB. That's pretty damn obvious at this point.

Oh and this moronic logic that the only way to build a D is through the draft and you should never supplement with a key free agent, even if a bit pricey, is just that...... Moronic.

Sprano was still involved in 2007 as the OL coach and you can tell how the offense changed once he left and JG took full control. If you had watched the games you'd know. I doubt you even watched back then.

Its not moronic. What free agent was out there that was going to fix this defense? And with what money? We had to scoop up pennies to bring in Nolan Carroll and Stephen Paea.......what free agent are you referring to?

What's moronic is thinking free agency is going to fix your problems. Free agency is full of guys who other teams don't want or don't want to overpay.

Cowboys did it the right way. You can complain about a lot....but as of right now the defense looks to have the pieces just looks to be inexperienced but what other way to get experience than to actually play your guys?

Back then? That was 10 years ago lol....you're talking like its the 70s lol.....

And its "Sparano".....you might want to get the guys name right if you want to try and tell someone when they were following the Cowboys and pretending to be high and mighty.

To be fair the broncos won a SB hitting big on free agency. It does work sometimes. We need a RDE desperately. If you look at roster breakdowns we’re at the bottom of $ spent in secondary and DL and it shows big time.

I hate this offense and this defense. We need to have a terrible record in order for Jerry to make real changes. We have to stop with the 13-3 records.
