I have no problem with what the NFL is doing.

Honestly, there are alot other battles to fight with the NFL then this one.

I'm still a little disappointed that they wouldn't let Peyton Manning wear black hightops to honor Johnny Unitas.

The Brewers did a prostate awareness thing awhile back.

They backed it up by giving away free prostate exams.

Is the NFL doing that at stadiums? Why not? Seems to me that besides raising awareness, maybe they should raise early detection?

I dont care as long as they win.......btw, I still feel that it is odd for not one team in the WNBA to wear pink and black....those two colors go great together. It would be a sweet combo for one of the teams.

What's interesting is that the support by the league isn't unusual. Just saw an article from a year ago..

The league and teams will promote breast cancer awareness messages during the month with pregame and in-stadium initiatives, including "Pins That Touch Hearts." Coaches and game staff personnel will wear pink ribbon/NFL shield pins on the sidelines during games throughout the month of October.

In addition, the NFL Referee's Association presented a check for $14,000 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure during a pregame ceremony at Texas Stadium on Sept. 28. EA Sports will sell Madden NFL 09 Pink at Target stores during Oct. with proceeds going to the Deanna Favre HOPE Foundation. Featuring the same gameplay and graphics found in Madden NFL 09, Madden NFL 09 Pink features limited edition packaging displaying a pink ribbon.

Only reason why people notice now is because their efforts have bled onto the field with the players wearing certain pink items.

Instead of simply cutting a check, the league is going to auction the stuff off and give the proceeds to the American Cancer Society. See below

The NFL has teamed up with the American Cancer Society
to fight breast cancer and save lives

Through the American Cancer Society's nationwide Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event, the Society unites communities to celebrate breast cancer survivors, educate people about how to reduce their breast cancer risk or find the disease early, and raise dollars and awareness to end the disease. Yeah..... I'm not touching that.

Judging by the fact that my post got deleted in the "thing smarter than Jason Garrett"... I'd say there are some over sensitive PC types who'd complain.

Not to mention, I don't want down syndrome mixing in with latina breasts in any way, shape, or form.

Breast Cancer Awarness for a month. It aint gonna kill the NFL to support it for 4 weeks and it sure as hell aint gonna kill any of you to watch.

I don't have a problem with it.

As someone who's lost his mother to this disease, I'm all for it. Four weeks, guys, that 's all that 's being asked. Deal with it.

co-sign

it is really that much of a problem to all you?

for just a few weeks will it hurt that the league is trying to help combat something that is affecting the lives of millions around the world.

not just the people inflicted but also their loved ones.

some people just dont care until unfortunately the problem hits home for them.

great job by the league

as well as deangelo williams. hes the one who helped push for this

he not only lost 2 of his aunts to breast cancer but his mom is also dealing with it as well.

Why doesn't the NFL take the money spent on pink caps, pink gloves, pink wristbands and pink goalpost cushions and instead donate it to breast cancer research? -- Phil Mushnick, NY Post

I agree. I like the sentiment, but the NFL has gone overboard here IMO.

And why the hell do we call it breast cancer awareness? Is there anybody out there who still isnt AWARE OF BREAST CANCER? ANYBODY AT ALL?
of course people are aware you fool lol

its not to tell people that breast cancer exist duh!!

but rather encourage those to go out and get tested for it by their doctor

do you know how many lives are lost that couldve been saved through early prevention had someone just gotten a check-up?

sadly most women dont even bother.

a lot of people dont even see a doctor until their sick. honestly im one of those people. until i feel half dead i aint calling my doc lol not good but i always do it.
