This year sucked but I really don't think this team is anywhere near as bad they appear

I know you dont want it to be so but last year happened what ever your metaphor
and as waves recede they return again

While waves recede and return, its not often that a perfect storm comes along. Thats the problem with this "hope" mentality that a few Red Apologists are still hangin onto. Red needs a perfect storm and we might not see another one for a very long time.

If we don't get some new coaches in here then it won't matter. I've never seen a team completely fall apart like this one did when Romo went down. That's inexcusable.

Fair or unfair, we'll see Linehan back. No way will they change the offense with Romo entering the twilight of his career. Marinelli will stick. Garrett is a no-brainer. Get used to the hyper-gum chewing, clap-n-spit, helmet slapping, player pushing, red flag tossing HC, because he ain't going anywhere.

Look for lower tier assistants like ST's or DB's coaches to be lanced.

I think you're right. Unless of course Jerry runs out of Blue Label for a few days and looks at where his team is from a sober perspective.

Life is good in Jerry World.

It's his own utopia. Probably has palatial spread under the field with a special knitted quilt made of unwashed jock straps from the 93 Super Bowl team that he snuggles and sniffs every night.

As Cowboy fans we are left with just dwelling in the past . . . . . .

Yea this year sucked but... I really don't think this team is anywhere near as bad they appear. Most positions on this team look like we have a capable person filling it, the entire o-line, WR, the d-line looks to be really good (especially DE), our LBs when healthy are some of the best in the league, and even our secondary is looking better than I thought possible when the season began (coming in at 6 in passing yards per game, and no we haven't been blown out that much so it's not that teams are giving up on their pass game). If we score 3 more points in each of our games, we are in the playoff race, we score a TD more, we are 10-4... try telling me Romo doesn't make that much difference.

We need a few more tools on defense (and hopefully get Hardy and McClain back), we need a new RB to go with McFadden (who has surprised me this year), and most of all we need a guy capable of coming in for Romo when he takes his annual sabbatical. This is a lot like the 2011 Colts or even last years Vikings, we are missing that one guy that the whole game revolves around, but we will be back next year better than ever (with that being said, who knows if I will watch anymore professional football between now and the Super Bowl). *Puts on flame proof vest* okay tell me how wrong and stupid I am, I am ready.

Obviously, I'm not familiar with the football team you are describing... I would say that you have been viewing these last 10 weeks with your eyes wide SHUT!

Haha. I agree. While the Steelers, Broncos, Patriots, Packers, and recently the Seahawks are playoff bound year in and year out with talk of possible Super Bowl aspirations in February, we only hope to make the playoffs once every 5 years or so.

I think I just spilled my half-full glass. There's always next season. Sigh.

We've lost six games this year by a TD or less. Even with a turnstile at QB, we've hung around.

Crappy teams can make pretty quick turnarounds in this league.

Point differential is a very important metric when it comes to projecting a team's immediate future. That's why I've been saying that if Romo and Dez were healthy, we would likely run away with the division. Our losses have been minute. Even the bigger losses like Atlanta and Green Bay were a lot closer in score than they appeared at the end. And that's with Hardy being out for 4 games, Gregory just getting back into playing shape, Scandrick out for the entire year, T. McClain being out for almost the entire year along with the mess we had at RB earlier in the year and Dunbar being out.

Red will take the team back to the tourney and soon

we disagree Iam leaving it at that with you an your last say

A lot of us had high hopes when Red got the job. Hope turned to reality tho. Some of us have been slower to recognize that reality than others and have been willing to give him time. I bought into the change of culture and turning things around building for the long term but I had to face it, he wont ever get it done and it has nothing to do with Jerry and everything to do with what he lacks. You'll get there too, its just taking longer.

Were middle of the road in talent. We have *other* problems, that wont just......................stand down.

I would even say, outside of a few guys, are talent level is slightly below average.

I thought the OL couldve been something more, and they still might, they are still young. But they may develop into something that is strong. but with our "luck" or is it planning(?), it will be after Romo is gone.

Of course this team isn't bad. The only bad thing about us this year has been our luck. Bottom line is if Romo stays healthy, right now we're discussing which players to rest next week because the division would've been long locked up. You can say we have a lot of flaws, which we do, but having an elite quarterback covers a lot of them up. Yes, even the bad coaching. For NBA fans, look what Lebron did with that dimwit of a coach Eric Spolestra... and now look at what he's doing with an even more clueless David Blatt. Great players make bad coaches look good... it happens in every sport. It happened with our Cowboys just last season when we were actually healthy. There's no overhaul needed with this team. You happily take the likely top 5 pick, make a few roster changes in free agency, get Romo healthy and see what happens. This was simply a lost season due to injuries. No other way around it.

I did not.

Brady goes down and Cassel fills in and makes the Pro Bowl. He comes here and looks like garbage.

Weeden comes here and looks like crap but goes to Houston and is an adequate replacement.

We have a serious coaching problem here.

Weeden is a good relief pitcher, bad starter. His best game this year (counting the one he played for the Texans) was when he came in after Romo got hurt against Philly.
