You know, Jerry actually feels vindicated by the Commanders going 3-13 with Shanahan and firing him. He somewhat aluded to it on the radio when he mentioned other teams firing coaches with worse records than Garrett. No doubt he watched a name like Shanahan get hired in DC with the power he was given and then end up getting fired. After last year it looked like it had paid off for them. But with RGIII's injury and Snyder's involvement there was a major rift between RGIII/Snyder and Shanahan. It all tanked this season and that was that.

But now Jerry is feeling vindicated that his way, with him in control with a learning on the job HC is better than giving power to a name coach like Snyder did. Even though it's ridiculous it's cemented in his mind even more.

That's another thing that kills me about Jerry. He's always trying to use someone else's failure to justify his position, or way of doing things. Did the same thing with Parcells. Justified not giving up control to the coach, because as he saw it, Parcells didn't have great success. As opposed to just looking at his own body of work, and realizing it isn't working, he's always pointing at someone else, and saying "their way is no better than my way." To me, that's just weak. But you look at a team like Seattle, with Carroll being in charge, even over the GM, and the success their having. Sure, Jerry will look at their success, but all he'll see is a scheme, or a personnel group, without realizing that their overall structure and culture is much more effective than his.

He won't have Lebeau and Arians. He might be able to bring Capers with him though if GB cans him.

He will run into a lot of the same issues that many of the "retread" high profile coaches ran into. Especially if he cannot get quality coordinators. In a league where half of them turn over from year to year, things have to break right.

And he has no problem uses examples of other people's success, like Bellichek, as evidence of Garrett's alleged greatness. Conveniently, bsedes the fact the comparison is plain old dumb, he forgets that Bellichek has absolute control as well. Hell, Kraft paid his whole fine for Spygate by giving him a raise.

Bruce Allen is but I'm sure he meddles. Shanahan's a good coach. He may not be perfect but he's far better than what the team looked like this year. There's a reason.

Still, I would take an owner meddling with a GM at times over what we have in Dallas.

I think you're saying this because of your track record of what you've said here in the past.

If you truly believe what you're saying you haven't payed attention to what was going on in maryland.

Jason is being home schooled by the Cowboys to be the next great NFL coach.

He may be 8-8 year after year but all his teachers like him & he keeps his desk neat.

And he never once has gotten called into Principal Jones office for being bad.

They know what they have. Now if they can just convince the fans..

It is a grass is greener thing for sure.

Allen is a gm, but his record as gm is pretty poor. He was hired as gm for the same reason Gibbsv2.0 came about. An idiot owner is trying to recreate past success with familiar names or similar systems because he has no idea what he is doing.

Sound familiar? It should. Our own idiot gm makes the same decisions for the same reasons.

Allen is more of the contracts person than the talent evaluator with Shanahan having the final say from what I understand. He was sort of the same way with Gruden in Tampa, except he was more of the final decision maker.

you ignore the fans. a gm that makes decisions because of fan reaction is the worst gm in football.
