Thoughts and opinions about last night's Super Bowl!

I know this is a bit off subject, but l watched the movie "42" for the first time Saturday night. One scene really struck me. It was where the Dodgers owner told Jackie Robinson how he made him love baseball again. I couldn't help but think, what's it going to take to get me to love football again?

The NFL players nowadays are so self absorbed and selfish. None seem to care about their team. Everything Robinson went through for his love of the game and l can't think of even one NFL player like that. The NFL is getting really hard to watch.

Once again a great defense foiled a great QB in the SB. The second time Mahomes was reduced to a struggling QB in a SB by a great defense.

If you would have told me KC would hold Barkley to under 60 yards rushing and to a 2.5 YPC average... I would have bet my life savings on KC.

But Hurts did what our Deer-in-the-headlights never does: he just refused to lose. KC obviously sold out to stop Philly's Plan A (smart move), and dared Hurts to beat the blitz.... and he just stared down the gun barrel and beat them. Our guy would have panicked and thrown 4 picks
Exactly.

This debate is better saved for the future, like if Dak can ever manage to get out of the wildcard round, something we all know will never happen. So let's pick on a 3 time champion who has played in 5 straight AFCCG's instead..

Mahomes had a bad game, sure, but name 1 Cowboys fan on the planet who wouldn't trade Dak for Mahomes. I would do it without blinking an eye.
You are right, but give Dak the Eagles' weapons and support from the Eagles' defense and he wins that game last night too.

Not taking anything away from Hurts, he played a more than solid game, but the depth of Philly's roster top to bottom is what I noticed the most.

You can still lose, Chiefs had to beat them with a run game and short passes.
Very hard to lose that game with getting that pressure with just a 4 man rush. you can have a 5th guy key on the rush and the rest in the secondary to stop the passing game. All while the QB is running for his life. The results of the game says it all.

no Dak does not. The pressure of playing in the SB would have him throwing pick 6's

Really? Look what happened last night. Hurts threw a pick with the Eagles in scoring position. What happened next? The Eagles defense forced a three and out and gave the ball right back to Hurts.

When Dak makes a mistake, the Cowboys defense normally allows a scoring drive, there's a 14 point swing, and everybody blames Dak for choking. Meanwhile, nobody remembers Hurts' pick last night.

It takes a TEAM to win a Super Bowl. The Eagles showed that to the world last night. Only the most myopic fans believe it's all about one position.

Sure sounds like Dak against the same DC when he was with the 49ers with no running game.

As usual the team that dominated the trenches won the game. The Eagles defensive line was able to stop the run and the pass without blitzing because of dawgs on the dline.

Meanwhile, if Jerry was fortunate to live so long he'd still go 30+ years between drafting a DT in the 1st round
Their dline dominated. And chiefs appear to have sold out to stop barclay. That’s why a run game is so important. It forces a D to account for it

Did I see it right that Mahomes wore a Philly Green suit into the stadium?

If so that's taunting the football gods just a bit much...

The Eagles have the fifth fewest unrestricted free agents on the market this offseason. They will maintain strong continuity going into the 2025 season so don't expect a decline in ability.

If the Eagles don't have the best O-line, they certainly have the largest. Their five O-line starters average over 335 pounds and over 6 ft,6 inches in height.

Even if a defense were to contain Barkley, the 9th player in NFL history to rush for over 2000 yds in a season, they still have to contend with a true double threat in Hurts. Their passing game has only been limited by the success of their running game.

The Eagles use Barkley intelligently in that they don't give up on him even if he is being contained. That's because, no matter how limited his productivity seems, he is always one play away from a home-run and opponents realize this and must respect it.

There just isn't that much of a need for a prolific passing game. Even a passing play can be converted into a successful running play. You don't see that in their passing statistics.

What do the Cowboys need to accomplish in order to compete with the Eagles next season?

Priority #1 is to shore up the middle of the defensive line. They need size and muscle at the DT positions. In fact, I would strongly recommend making that position a priority in both free agency and the draft,

Secondly, the Cowboys must establish a power running game and take less pressure off their passing game which plays right into the hands of the Eagles defense. This defense was ranked #1 against the pass in both yards and adjusted yards per attempt.

The Eagles are the team to beat, barring excessive injury.

Defense wins championships. High flying O's get shut down in the playoffs.

The quote from Mike Tyson comes to mind…. “ Everyone has a plan, until they get punched in the mouth.”

The chefs not only got it in the kisser, but also got kicked in the nuts. Never recovered.

-Thought the Chiefs were badly outcoached, more undisciplined team
-When a defense plays shell coverage, the way to beat it is to run the football against the light box, they ran the ball just 6 times in the 1st half.
-Chiefs playing their Guard at left tackle finally caught up to them, thought Josh Sweat was the best rusher on the night and earned a big payday this offseason.
-Did an excellent job containing Barkley, but allowed too many rushes to Hurts that got them out of long situations.
-Defensive penalties, ball 3 feet over the head and defender has to hit the guy in the head, Bolton with a personal foul when it's 2nd and 20.

-I think the media can now pipe down says Mahomes is the goat. Two terrible super bowl performances in similar fashion. Not sure many are old enough to have seen Montana, but he never lost, period, just like Jordan. I laugh at people who think Lebron is better, same goes with Brady. Montanta/Jordan never lost and were the reason why they won!!
Montana was and still is the best qb to ever play the game. that is not question to me.

Brady was a very good qb but nowhere near elite like for instance montana, manning, rodgers or marino.

i dont think and have never thought that mahomes is elite either. he is a good qb, very good when you put into account also his physical skills. but those will diminish very soon.

Dak bots are so funny

There really is nothing to say to such drivel.
except laugh

Both teams are way ahead of the cowboys.
Don’t know if cowboys will ever catch up.

Those other QBs - other than Montana - literally aren't worthy of carrying Brady's jockstrap. I guess you must think his success was due to Belichek?
