Thoughts and opinions about last night's Super Bowl!

He had to win multiple games on his last drive and faced far better competition to get to the Super Bowl.
You avoided the question though. Did Montana ever face the pressure in the SB’s that he was involved in that Mahomes faced in his two losing SB’s. The answer is No he did not.

Mahomes, a pick 6, another pick inside the 10, a fumble. Where is the outrage that he choked, again in a SB.
Yes he won 3 as well. But that does not count, only the bad games. :muttley:
Its not like he has only won a couple of wildcard games in his career.
He was bad last night but yeah, 3 SB wins, 5 SB appearances and 7 straight NFCCGs. Keep reaching…

Not reaching. I guess that went right over your head.

My only thought during the game was, “could Dallas ever get to that level of playing defense?”
Nope, not with Jerry and Stephen.

In 2005 Parcells drafted as many DL in the first round (Ware and Spears) as we have in the 19 years since. And the two we did draft, Taco and Mazi have been busts. Jerry is a football imbecile.

I remember the years l despised the other teams in our division and couldn't imagine them winning a SB. It made me sick.

Jerry and the bozo NFL commissioner have pretty much taken my love for the NFL away. I didn't even care that the Eagles won. Still dont.
Yeah its basically getting to that point. I’ve always hated SF, Philly and Wash. But thanks to Jerry the Cowboys have become irrelevant when it comes to the SB and playoff success. With enough time these other teams with competent FO’s will breakthrough like Philly has done. SF has gotten real close multiple times and Wash. is just getting started.

At this point its futile since the Cowboys dont even try. Guess we will just half-heartily watch these other teams stack trophies.

As usual the team that dominated the trenches won the game. The Eagles defensive line was able to stop the run and the pass without blitzing because of dawgs on the dline.

Meanwhile, if Jerry was fortunate to live so long he'd still go 30+ years between drafting a DT in the 1st round
Say it loader for the folks in the back!!

-Thought the Chiefs were badly outcoached, more undisciplined team
-When a defense plays shell coverage, the way to beat it is to run the football against the light box, they ran the ball just 6 times in the 1st half.
-Chiefs playing their Guard at left tackle finally caught up to them, thought Josh Sweat was the best rusher on the night and earned a big payday this offseason.
-Did an excellent job containing Barkley, but allowed too many rushes to Hurts that got them out of long situations.
-Defensive penalties, ball 3 feet over the head and defender has to hit the guy in the head, Bolton with a personal foul when it's 2nd and 20.

-I think the media can now pipe down says Mahomes is the goat. Two terrible super bowl performances in similar fashion. Not sure many are old enough to have seen Montana, but he never lost, period, just like Jordan. I laugh at people who think Lebron is better, same goes with Brady. Montanta/Jordan never lost and were the reason why they won!!
When you can get all that pressure and sacks without having to blitz one time, you cant lose.

I believe he was commenting tongue-in-cheek. Notice the laughing emoji.

Also, a bit of a shot at fans in general that always are quick to criticize one poor game and overlook a tremendously positive body of work.
Oh I know it was TIC and an attempted shot. But it was odd since I havent seen anyone dismissing Mahomes’, or the Chiefs, body of work based on yesterdays game.

Why stop at Montana? Aikman, Eli Manning, Terry Bradshaw also never lost a Super Bowl. Aikman only has 1 less than Montana.

Brady dwarfs Montana and it isn't even close.

7 time champion >>>> 4
10 appearances >>>>> 4
Countless AFC championship appearances >>>>> Whatever Montana had, which I know is nowhere near what Brady had.

To punish a player for making to the last stage and losing but never punishing a guy for the seasons he could never make it to the championship round is wild. Montana and Jordan had a ton of seasons where their teams never even made it to the big stage. Why don't those get talked about?

Brady has more rings than any other franchise total. Yeah, the goat talk starts and ends with him. Not to mention, the longevity of his career dwarfs Montana.

You can still lose, Chiefs had to beat them with a run game and short passes.

Montana faced all time defenses like the Bears, Giants, Commanders to get into the Super Bowl. That was also a time where they didn't protect the QB and you can actually hit him.

Yeah this is why its so tough to compare different generations. Montana played in a different league with no salary cap creating more dominant teams at the top. Mahomes is in a more balanced league but you're absolutely correct in the pressure rates being created today are nowhere close to what it was 30-40 years ago. The size speed and strength teams have along the front four is just insane.

I think down and distance dictated a lot of what they did. but yeah, he also didn't try much. they fell behind early and the pass rush was relentless. they got caught in a buzzsaw of philly defense.
They were down 10-0 and that acted like it was 30. You cannot allow a good pass rush and to worry about a run game.
