Thoughts on the Mingo trade!

I don't like it, primarily because of the weight of the pick given. If this had been one of the later 5ths or preferably a 6th I could see it for a flyer in 2025 but a 4th is a lot of value and could be more considering how the season pans out.

At this point it's likely that the Cowboys pick high in the 4th round, almost surely top 10 and perhaps higher. Consider also the Cowboys own currently five fifth round picks one of which will be their own and also high in the round. The Mingo trade removes the 4th from ammo to move around if a impact player slips in a round.

With the 4th they had ammo to package with a 5th or two to play into the 3rd if they needed someone. It also removes a package to possibly add value to trading with their 3rd to potentially go into the second, and then package the 5ths to get back in the 4th for a late rounder.

So I don't hate taking a chance on a young guys with good measurables that can work into 2025 and beyond, but he's not worth the points value of the pick considering how high in the round the current projection has the Cowboys going.

Maybe he'll prove me wrong, but I really think the Cowboys would be better served trading away players to get added points for the draft rather than giving up points when a lot of positions are needed.

It's a head scratcher. Why dive up a 4th round Pick for a guy who can't even get a snap fotlr the team that drafted him?

If they gave a conditional 7 that can become a 6, it would have been a fair trade. From a pure trade value standpoint it's an absolute joke.

Probably could have gotten him after the season for cheap after the Panthers cut him or put him on practice squad.....just mind blowing.

This isn't a now move, but more towards the future. Mingo is very raw, but does possess elite athletic traits. He could potentially become that X receiver we lack. By trading for him, doesn't exclude the team from drafting another high receiver this year. Probably overpaid a little, but they are banking on his upside. I really liked him in the draft 2 years ago, has some Dez Bryant qualities, but he is more in the Jalen Tolbert level right now and won't make a big, immediate impact.
Do not like the move at all. Jerry got fleeced. Dak, is headed for the IR heading into a matchup with the Eagles. We are sliding is an understatement in the standings; we need to play our younger receivers that Jerry is high on. This is not the same team Rush took over before. I can see at the draft one of the top receivers there for us to take a Jerry takes a pass because he likes our guys. We should be dumping vets not buying.

Don't worry, once Jerry trades Micah for a 5th and it turns into a 4th based on games played, we'll have our pick back ;)

Jerry got a 5th round pick for AMARI COOPER then gives up a 4th for this bum. You can't make this crap up.

All the people complaining about Jerry not making any trades are to blame for this trade. Jerry always gives up too much or receives too little, every time.
I’m not making excuses for Jerry and Co, but the Amari trade was more of a salary purge. But I share your chagrin over how this franchise is being run in the ground right now. The Dak contract sealed it for me.

Dline, that would be nice to actually have one. Could've used that 4th for a number of things including moving up? Nope, worried about a 2nd rate WR considering the ridiculous state of this roster?

Yup, what we need in the draft is RB, NT, linebacker, and guard (especially since Martin probably retires after the season). Jerry doesn't do anything in FA as it is, but we need to be a physical team. Now, instead of possibly getting Jeanty who can likely make us a much better run game, we probably need to try to trade back (if we manage to pick top 10, which we probably will regardless of this trade) so we can try to get more players. Jerry, instead of using his head about how we can tank and make the team more competitive next season, is trying to salvage a car that would currently cost more in repairs than to just rebuild it.

Whenever Jerry feels like playing with his toy, fourth round picks are easily available.

Don’t mind value, he has no idea.

It’s beyond ridiculous and embarrassing.

Irrelevant…he was a pretty good receiver at OM. I’d be excited for him to get a shot in a different era of Cowboys football. This thing needs a reset.

If you have a draft bust, call smiling Jerry and he will give you a 4th rounder for your mistake.

Okay now that Ive calmed myself down and looked into the player.....To be honest his college tape looks good, he was drafted to a crappy team, maybe he'll pan out here who knows......He does look like that big dominant AJ Brown type WR though......only time will tell if this actually works out...

another raw player with potential!!!!!! I'm so tired of
My thoughts exactly. My head is about to explode continuing to listen to some defending what we gave up is somehow worth it if he can be "developed." How about we begin by developing the 2nd round TE (Schoonmaker) we took in last year's draft; and the 6th round WR (Flournoy) we took in this year's draft. We need playmakers who's skills were developed long before they got here, so they can contribute in winning football games. Instead we get a player no better than whom we have on our practice squad, just so some old, senile fool can make headlines.
