Thoughts on the Mingo trade!

This isn't a now move, but more towards the future. Mingo is very raw, but does possess elite athletic traits. He could potentially become that X receiver we lack. By trading for him, doesn't exclude the team from drafting another high receiver this year. Probably overpaid a little, but they are banking on his upside. I really liked him in the draft 2 years ago, has some Dez Bryant qualities, but he is more in the Jalen Tolbert level right now and won't make a big, immediate impact.
I hate the Eagles and Commanders so much that I decided to be more positive. I question Carolina as an organization and don’t believe they used Mingo properly. I don’t think the Cowboys trust any receiver after CeeDee and I expect Mingo to get a chance. He is 6’2, runs a 4.46 forty so there is talent. Just put him out there and see what he can do. Don’t bury him if he messes up keep him out there.

We just spent next years 4th round pick on him. Maybe we could take another WR in round 1 to pair with Lamb and go full Matt Millen.

Dak is 17% of the cap this year and will never be close to 40%. Next year will be the highest at 32%.
Fun with numbers. He has a higher impact overall. And the future amounts keeps them from getting better players in the very near future.

Next week, Jerry’s gonna go to the locker room with tears in his eyes after a drubbing and say, “I deliver the great Mingo to you, and this is how you repay me?”

Then he’ll go into an early 90s story about an d-lineman who stubbed his toe before a Thanksgiving game and was able to bounce back and play his heart out in a long shot victory before eating 3 whole turkeys by himself.

I hope Mingo works out but performance wise so far this is like getting a 4th rounder for Mazi. Sure there's still a chance they turn it around but it's getting slimmer and the cost for a team that doesn't fill holes in FA and generally drafts well is way too much.

I think its one of those " We had him really high during the draft and now he is available " things. Almost like if they would have traded for Mims when the Jets first dangled him

There were good reasons to be high on him. I was. I was hoping they were aggressive and traded up for him in the 2nd. I think your hope has to be that a change in scenery and a much better QB makes a big difference. My hope is in 2025 we get the level of production from Mingo we are getting from Tolbert now. We dont have a real #2 on the roster. Having 2 guys in the 65/750 range helps alleviate that

They could restructure 2 contracts next year and have close to $100 million.

Also, Parsons currently counts for $21 million next year. That number could be lowered easily.

We just traded a valuable draft pick for an overdrafted bust.

Jerry’s mind:
We really liked him 2 years ago when Carolina took him in the 2nd.
I can get him for a 4th AND get a 7th back….I’ll look like a genius and this will really help my Franchise QB next year.
Carolina:
Ummmm
You’ll give us a high 4th for a WR we realized can’t catch a football and would probably be cut next year?
We hate to do it, but okay…
Hangs up phone. Everyone looks at each other….
All bust out laughing…Bwahahahaha

The worst receiver they had. From the worst team in the league. And we give em a 4th rounder. Everybody is laughing their azz off over this trade. How far have we fallen....
